  • noob

  • añade el recursivo tontin -rf

  • for flies in `ls`; do echo -n "rm: remove regular file '${flies}'?"; read; done

  • they clearly forgot the -f

  • rm -rf... but It does seem as if they are enjoying it :?

  • -f would save a lot of hassle.

  • gotta delete all that porn

  • yes|rm -r *

  • There is somthing as an server os

  • Learn to rm -f. xD

  • | yes

    just a tip

  • there's an app for that!

    $ man yes

  • @spintriae don't call it "an app"...

  • 'yes ¦ rm somefile' pipes a constant stream of y faster then you can

  • thats a linux terminal

  • and the question is...?

  • cat /dev/ass > /dev/hands

  • well you can user -f and it don't ask you anything

  • yes. run yes. or -f. noobs.

  • Man I really WANT one of them DELL keyboards!!! And the LCD, were and how much can i get one from??

  • @happygamestvfun1 i think i saw one of those on dell dot com. I have one two and they're clunky though

  • Hi,

You can use "yes" command for that :)

  • why not use yes, like this: yes | rm -i *.txt, then it will not prompt for every file.

  • y stands for yes . and they are saying yes to a million questions.

  • Holy crap, put in the -f switch.

  • You're doing it wrong.

  • Reminds me of yaourt. Due to the low resolution of the environment, it looks more like the kernel booting up :3

  • LINUX is not UNIX

    ma sappiate anche che

    LIVE IS NOT LIFE

    quindi

    GET A LIFE!

Musoni saccenti di sto paio di palle.

  • See these guys are so smart they can type random letters over and OVER again and think something will happen. Whoopdee fucking doo.

You don't have to be SMART to use Unix...you just have to not be fucking stupid.

  • Comment removed

  • unix was designed for use of intelligent people, not these idiots.

  • there's a program called yes that does this automatically (=

    type: "yes | rm pictures/*"

  • If you dont want to use flags for rm you could always pipe yes to it.

  • no hay nada mas desesperante q un infinite loop !!!!:s

  • Comment removed

  • wtf are they laughting about?

  • just wannabes. make a script with a name such as funstuff that moves all the filesystems to the /dev/null directory (bwahaha)

  • Wow... as funny as watch a dead bird...

  • why not rm -y ? or rm -f?

  • rm -rfv /*

  • > rm *

    0_o"

  • never heard of -rf eh lol

  • use fucking -f

  • GAY

  • someone needs to learn -f

  • oh, it's really cool :D

  • someones in trouble at schoool lmfaooo

  • lol, you could use the 'yes' program that prints infinite amounts of 'y's until you kill it. that would be boring though ;)

  • GENIALE.

  • @bigalexdotit siete tutti uguali voi utenti "LINUX IS NOT UNIX" :)

  • there's a command called 'yes' that will output endless number of 'y' lines so you can pipe it to anything

  • Geniali!! Il prossimo passo sarà inventare la ruota e l'acqua calda.

  • Unix sarebbe la ubuntu? :( Non dite ste cose please, è come spalmare della merda su una fetta di pane e pensare che sia nutella...

  • All of your respective mothers.

  • FUCKING

  • Hardcore.

  • wget brain

    ./configure --brainqi100

    make

    su

    make install

  • Oh, and please stop writing unfunny commands. It isn't funny when everyone does it

  • Get a room

  • try -y next time..duh

  • @phatdee This is true.

Also, if shit like this happens, Press Ctrl+C to abort and ask someone who knows what exactly you should do instead.

  • @KillaHaakon

i thought it was ctrl +z maybe that's a red hat/debian based distro difference or konsole thing

  • @MrSquishles

Control + Z suspends a program, but keeps it alive.

If you give fg as a command it will pop back up in focus.

bg will keep it running in the background.

    Control + C kills a program unceremoniously.

  • noob

  • boring behavior haha.

  • Are there initilasation layers in the UNIX kernel? I thought that was just the reboot command(as apposed to initial 0 in Linux) or is it just because that's the command in BSD.

But enough about the xoomrnt before mine. This is why we have control characters.

  • Wtf? Just pipe "yes" to it, or use -rf switches.

    ???

  • @mike4ty4 addition/correction: just use "-f", unles you want to toast the subdirectories, too, and it looks like they're all jpgs, so why not just "rm -f *.jpg"?

  • rm command can be aborted with Ctrl+C and used with rm -rf key.

  • WTF they need respect for Unix

  • ctrl+C

  • pkill -9 yourself

    sudo yum reinstall life*

    That's all I can say.

  • Word. Get away from your computer...

  • @purpleravenstar error missing dependencie: brain

  • @purpleravenstar What if you're on ubuntu? :(

  • @purpleravenstar But what if they're not using Fedora?

  • @theif519 Use the proper commands according to the package manager that you are currently using.

  • apt-get = one of the worst package managers ever. Thank God Unix doesn't use it.

    Also, the correct syntax:

    # yes y | rm -rf /file

  • @winrid How is apt-get one of the worst package managers ever?

  • Ever hear of dependency hell? With apt it's even worse than DLLs on windows.

For instance, it won't let you install a package without installing a bunch of unnecessary packages. Seriously, you can't even remove Evolution on the Ubuntu desktop without removing the whole base system. How retarded is that? With OpenSUSE you can at least tell it to ignore the dependences. Apt has no good GUI solution for this.

  • Haha, did you people rate me down because I posted the correct command to use or because apt sucks? It does suck, you are just too blind to see it. Linux can be great, but distros like Ubuntu give it a bad name.

  • He'll be laughing if he got some nerd sex out of that.

  • ROFL! .. so much unnecessary labor if all they wanted was to delete everything.

  • well if that's the case why didn't they type in:

    sudo rm -rfv /

oh and sudo apt-get install a fucking brain

  • @renkinjutsu01 they dont want 2 delete the os, they're just retards let into a comp lab. lmao

  • sudo apt-get install a life

  • Wtf. -_-

  • these f4gs need to be fr4gged

  • Cuzão!

  • while looking a 2nd time i see they where deleting some shit.

    use -f to not prompt

  • @24oscar24 if:

    1. their shell has rm aliased in such a way that it always prompts, or

    2. they have the "noclobber" option on,

then -f doesn't work (it MAY in #2, i'm not sure).

    set +o noclobber

    disables noclobber, and

    calling rm by full path:

    /bin/rm

will (should) override the shell alias. :)
