Apparently the instructions depict what the Prototype Laserbeak's head was going to be. But they wanted to further portray the characters as having a mix of small and large integrated intricate parts into their designs. So what we get with this formula is Frenzy being a four-eyed four-armed psycho, Ravage being a cyclops, and Laserbeak being a bulgy-eyed raptor type bird. And further reading tells that Frenzy is definitely a minicon but its still iffy about the other two. I think they are though

the first time i saw laserbeaks head it kind of reminded me of the bird like creatures from jim hensons 'the dark crystal".

i love this figure too, its to bad he is to big to fit with soundwave (human alliance comes with his own version of LB but cant transform)

they should make a leader version of soundwave for this LB to go with.

Great review as always! I like the sculpt of this figure but the head makes it look like a cartoon style vulcher. The colours are ok but silver instead of grey and orange instead of red would fit better iMO (Phoenix style).

Hey EmGo, did you notice the same thing I did? His "cockpit" in vehicle mode looks like a nice homage to the G1 Laserbeak head...with the hooked black beak and the glowing eye. I just thought it looked nifty :) I'm sure it wasn't intentional.
