@yuowatcher Sorry, but are you mental? In what way would a loaded gun ever help in a situation like this apart from fucking kill someone? One thing about you Americans is that you genuinely believe a gun can solve your problems. England is a peaceful island nation, we see no rational use in machine gunning our problems away. Perhaps you can make your claim stand up a bit more when your country isn't quite so blighted by an utterly abominable gun crime statistic.
@YellingInMyEar Well, go ahead and argue this with Swiss. They all are armed, and their society is as polite as neither US nor UK can't even dream to have. Then we'll discuss who of us two is mental and in what sense.
But I guess we never will find common grounds, as, as it seems to me, you are more likely the one who helped (by your own "believes") the government to disarm the population. Only thing left to you is to ask government to protect your rights - which you don't care to do yourself.
@yuowatcher boneheaded arrogant conservative rhetoric as is status quo for the American right.

that isnt in a shopping centre though its on the street which is a public place, and therefore there is NO law stopping you filming whatever you like! end of!
actually if you were filming in a shopping center you are filming on private property and have to ask permission before you can film. So if a security guard asks you to stop filming you have to.
@29649ron "Criminal offence committed when the guard touched him.without power to detain'
lol where did you hear that BS from. SO if a security guard has to use phyiscal force to eject a drunk from a bar ( or even a supermarket) without detaining him is that also a crimal offence

Im going down there on some point this week, im going to look for this rat and see if he tries to detain me he looks pissed anyways.
I was detained by local police where i live under section 44 of the terrorist act they then said i was tresspassing, but iwas soon let go when i informed them that in scotland there is no tresspass law the only crime they can do u for is a breach of the peace
it looked to me that place was a shopping mall these are often privately owned. therfor when the guard asked you to stop taking pictures it was becuase the rules of entering the premis says you cant take photos etc. he can assist you with leaving the premis (by force) as you are a tresspasser. he can detain you under human rights act if you photo him or record him for the police to come and delete the images of your camera.
no he cant u egg fuck some people talk shit ur allowed to film him its not against human rights at all i looked it up he can only tell you to not film him but he cant enforce that and detain u
funny how most of the comments belowe are in support of the guy taking pics ,hase any one thought maybe he was taking pics of you kids and the gaurd was trying to detain him so police could check him out or maybe he was taking pics of security cams and alarms (possible terrorist) no one knows or should he let the guy go WHAT WOULD YOU DO?
What would I do? Be less suspicious of everyone and everything that the government and the press tell you. You read the daily mail don't you? Maybe you should learn to spell a little better before criticizing other people comments.
so my spelling is wrong what has that got to do with owt ,and as for reading the daily mail no i dont but you probrbly do as your more interested in my spelling than the actual reasons for the way this guy acted but never mind when a bomb blows your wife and kids up you might understad that what he did might have stopped it happening
@anguspaula You are disgusting. As a boy I was on holiday with my parents in a certain town in northern Ireland on the 15th August 1988. Don't you dare lecture me about bombs. We are supposed to be a free society. I do what I want for the most part. If someone has an issue with that, that is their problem. Let me ask you, do you own a camera, still or video?
I would like to know something, what is wrong with taking photo's without anyone's permission, does it mean a tourist will not be able to take photo's of any building where there are poeple involved?
if it isnt a police state then when is it illegal to hold a demostration within a mile of westminster only one man in uk is allowed to protest good old brian haw !!!
This isn't an example of the authorities harassing photographers, but rather a security guard invoking his privilege of requesting no pictures taken of his person. We need to see the rest of this footage.
am i what about london demos even if you were walking to work or a tourist not part of the demo they held you in the street wouldnt let you leave the area wtf HIGHLY ILLEGAL not to metion the murder/manslaughter of the guy walking away from police with his back to them with HANDS IN POCKETS??? btw he was a newspaper seller nothing to do wit riots
Nice hypothesis, but unfortunately for its veracity you would need to highlight where in the law it is stated that a person or persons in a public place can demand that he or she shall not appear on the images produced by other people's cameras.
Well, multiple countries have privacy laws to determine whether photographers can take pictures of other people willy nilly. In the UK, however, Section 58 of the 2000 Terrorist Act makes photographing any enforcement personnel without their permission a criminal offense.
Under section 58 - it is an offence to photograph a member of Her Majesty's armed forces - the intelligence services or a constable - *for the use in terrorism.*
Otherwise you are free to photograph officers (et al) as you wish.
This man is not even a constable - but if he were he would still be in the wrong.
So he is just being an overly officious prick and has no power to "[invoke] his privilege of requesting no pictures taken of his person" because no such privilege exists.
exactly mrs.straightA... persons have few rights if any, and most certainly do not have the right to demand anything, although they may request numerous things, which will likely be disregarded... it's all about YOUR OWN legal status and capacity, the Law has to be obeyed (the causing of harm/loss/dishonesty), statute law does not (it is only law if you consent, and thus give it the force of law)... right on mrs. A...
oh and it was indeed assault, no-one is allowed to put their hands upon you without actually seeing and testifying that you have committed or were likely to commit a breach of the peace... and that goes for an actual peace officer(policeman) too... security guards are brought into disrepute by this chump above, he is outside of the Law, period...
Your wrong. In a public place you can photograph anything for personal use. Children are another matter and rightly so and some Gov buildings also have restrictions.
'You have violated my human rights'. Police seem to sometimes object to being photographed on the grounds that their 'Human Rights' are being violated. This really means the same thing as 'privacy' and there is none in the street as the presence of CCTV and police photographers shows.

to late the security gaurd is a clown its a public place and he assualted him and doesnt have right to detain himBTW THIS AINT CHINA PAL!! but its getting that way no photography or video no right to demonstrate and if you get job with kids your automatically assumed to be paedophile until disclosure form clears
Why is the security guard trying to detain someone for taking pictures. It's not an offence to take pictures in a public place? I think wrongful arrest is an option as section 24a of PACE says that you can only detain for an indictable offence?
Davey I agree to an extent but under data protection issues the security guard has a right not to have his picture taken if the picture and film was used without his permission the camera operator and reporter are in the wrong, I also think what was the reason for the filming? and what happened before hand?
@n1ckotene Free country does not mean what you think it means. It doesn't mean people can be a dick in public, regardless of if there a security guard or any every day wanker.

Why is the security guard trying to detain someone for taking pictures. It's not an offence to take pictures in a public place? I think wrongful arrest is an option as section 24a of PACE says that you can only detain for an indictable offence?
davey235 2 years ago
Davey I agree to an extent but under data protection issues the security guard has a right not to have his picture taken if the picture and film was used without his permission the camera operator and reporter are in the wrong, I also think what was the reason for the filming? and what happened before hand?

your wrong the security gaurd has no rights hes in a public place PS they dont need reason to film or take photographs
paulewing81 2 years ago
WRONG ! Any person in a public place can be photographed , there is no law to stop it and certainly it has nothing at all to do with data protection.

England used to be a free Country - then along came useless runts like that security guard...

@n1ckotene Indeed, what a pikey looking fucker he is.

@n1ckotene Free country does not mean what you think it means. It doesn't mean people can be a dick in public, regardless of if there a security guard or any every day wanker.

@n1ckotene Haha, oh wow. When exactly was England a free country?

So what happened after the film stops?
Did you sue them? Did they apologise?
Did you just give in?
