Very well done... but wanted to drop in a word about the shastras behind Mohiniyattam. One of the dancers acts as Krishna and the other as his Gopi. But, in Mohiniyattam, women cannot play the role of the man... it is the dance of the enchantress. So if one must show Krishna, it must be through the Gopi's eyes, a female cannot PLAY the role of a man. She can only show herself as dreaming of the male character. :)) Hope this helps to improve your choreography.
Anytime.... you have excellent poise.... you should definitely look at learning Mohiniattam from a Guru, and learn the Shastras. While a dancer can perform well by learning the basics, they don't really understand the beauty of each mudra until they learn the shastras behind it.
Just to give you an idea, in the Mudra where index finger touches thumb, the index finger stands for the individual atman (the dancer) and the thumb represents the Brahman. The mudra therefore means that the character has bonded with that universal brahman in her devotion/ misery/ happiness/ other emotion. Also, when we represent Krishna, one foot is slightly raised, while the other stays firm. This shows how while the devotion raises us to divinity, the character is still human. :))
thx for the detailed explanation.. initially we wanted to do a traditional mohiniyattam but then we were asked to do something different because most of the audience were non mallus and a typical mohiniyattam would be very slow and thus we adopted a film song and suprabhatham remix and choreographed it accordingly.. hope this helps..
Nice performance....
