  • hahahahaha....hahahahahaha...hahahaha!!

  • dude i respect what you're doing ..very thoughtful for beginner....but don't you think you brag too much about your so called skills on the congas??

in the music world being humble will make you succeed....

leave the teaching for the teachers and the practice for the beginners just like you and I....i consider myself as a beginner forever..i never wanna stop learning...

  • Its good how you teach. Just I get my congas 3 days ago (today is Dic 17) and I am realy a beginner.

Thank you for put your video.

  • yo your hands are too stiff dude.. tip: congas are like women

  • Just awful!,,,,, how can you pretend to be a teacher if you are still a beginner student???

Go to practice for 8 hours a day

  • huel tip slaap tip salp tip oeopen oeopen lol hilarious lol

  • Thank u

  • this is really for no no's

  • Hello I'm a beginner from Venezuela, I really like your videos man, but can you teach me how to tune my congas?

  • I'm just curious as a beginner, is it alright to begin learning on just the conga or should I invest in the conga, tumbadora and quinto?

    Much appreciated

  • I started with a conga and Tumbadora, that is all you need for a long time!! You can also start just on the conga but it is better to buy a Tumba with it. A quinto is something you can buy after some years of playing!

    Thanks

  • Thanks for replying.

How does a 9" and 10" fiberglass suit a beginner? I was at a shop the other day and they had set of those going for a good price by Toca Percussion.

  • I would say it is too small, better get a Conga 11 3/4 and a Tumba 12 1/2. Of course you invest a bit more, but you will have more fun for a long time from it!! The Meinls I use are fibercraft series 11 3/4 and tumba 12 1/2inch.

  • Great video...thanks for your work. I have a set of pearls that are 10 and 11 inches in diameter. Would these be a quinto and requinto? Should I find a conga and tumba? Thanks again.

  • you say hue tip! what is hue? befor you say tip? you mean bass?

  • Heel or bass

  • Are there latin percussion teachers in the Netherlands? because I'm coming to study and I'd like to play conga as a hobby alongside with my study

  • So you start with the tumbao and THEN start about technique? C'mon!

  • hey man, thanks for putting some of your leassons on hear. i play the bass and guitar and have always wanted to do something in the procussion area. finally bought a nice conga/bongo set a couple months ago and have'nt made anything more then noise untill a few minuts ago. right on dude and thanks again...

  • Hey TJ (I guess?)

Ik hoorde dat je van Nederland bent... Ik heb me zojuist Conga's gekocht!

    Groetjes!

    You are really good ;)

  • our Dutch friend is the best begginers instructor in utube, congratulations

  • Hi there, thanks so much for your instructions. i have taken few private lesson of conga and very frustrated and waist of time. i have learned more from you than my so called professional teachers. keep up the good work . looking forward to see lessons beyound number 6

  • I'm trying out for the Folsom Jazz Band (Number 1 in the US) next week, and this helped alot, THANKS!

  • Good place to start, great stuff.

    Thanks mate

  • thank you so much ;) Great

  • Hey Percussion channel: try to open your left hand fingers to both get a better semi-slap sound and you'll feel more relax...... good luck!

  • not bad ur right there are really some crappy lessons on youtube..

  • hey thanks for a legitimate lesson :)

  • try doing that with one hand :D

  • great videos your helping me alot but please try to improve the video clarity some of your videos are kind of foggy..

  • thanks for this it's great!

  • thanks for taking the time to make these videos, I am learning the Tumbao with my teacher now. But i only get to see the exact hand movements when I'm with him, this helps me practice at home. I Love drums, you never stop learning!!!

  • Thanks for bringing the quality teaching, DutchMan.

  • In the beginning I had some wrist pains, after a while it just dissapears,, so I think your hand has to ajust to the ballast it get's now, it is not used to that yet so it takes some time.

  • lol, u think that u can teach better than most people in youtube... in youtube there are so many videos, some of them of patato valdés, candido, giovanni hidalgo... they played for 40 years maybe, and you think yourself a good teacher with a year and half...

  • They just play too fast for most beginner!

  • that's right in most of solo videos; But they also got videos specially for begginers, and when u begin to play congas, it's really important to get a good base technic, so how much better is your teacher, much better for you.

  • Ok that is interesting, please send me that video, so I can post it also in my favorites and make my channel more complete.. because I didn't find tumbao lessons from the pro's yet in youtube!

  • ok, i will, and good work man, but u must learn to be modest if u want to be someone in the world of music!!

  • I don't want to be someone in the world of music, I'm just trying to teach, I'm talking about the index finger teachers in youtube.. Giovanni, Valdez, Montalvo, La Mole are the best, so to correct myself I'm not talking about them as crapy teachers since they don't even teach the basics yet in YouTube.

  • the players you mentioned are master playes and too fast for beginners i can't even see their hands. if they put a basic video together for beginners, i will be more than happy would be owesom, may be you can convinced them to do that :-)our Dutch friend is doing an excelent job.

  • Very good video....Congratulations

  • thanks for the lessons, it really is a lot more proffshional then the other videos on the u tube. you really should put more videos. thanks again from israel - a non conga contry..

  • thanks for sharing the knowledge. I've been wanting to learn, and now i can at my pace. Thanx

  • Thanks for this. Very nice. I'm 51 and just learning, and your demo of the heel tap is different and interesting.

  • Hi. Nice lesson man. With the compact conga can you practise at home without annoying neighbours or is it just as loud and resonant as a normal conga? Thanks.

  • Actualy it is loud but at least my neighbours are less annoyed.. But I really prefer playing real conga's more in my house, but for traveling this is very good. or for just playing anywhere in the house on the sofa for example just turn it low and play:)

  • Thanks for that.

  • great Idea man!!

  • I wish I could buy a CD and learn the basics

  • You need Tomas Cruz Conga Method. Book comes with DVD. The absolute best! Start with V1 and V2. Enough material to last years then go to V3. Good luck
