if you really want to make your plants small, do three things. start out the plants with 12-12 lighting. use cfl's and keep them close to the plants. and top the plant after the 5th node. good luck

my lights are always about s to 8 inches away from the plants and I'm worried that maybe i don't have enough watts for the. but i don't have that many plants.. what am i doing wrong.

how many watts is the light ..if its a cfl put it closer ...they can be practically almost touching the plant ...they dont get that warm

Ya if its a fluroecent light or CFL keep it around 2-4 inches above the plant.

you cannot use regular incandesent lights though.

you can use incandesent i always use incan for my begining seedlings they reach for the light and thus pruduce longer intervals to keep the bottom leave out of the soil after around 1 week switch to cfl try it and get back to me amazing results and my set up is fliping some household lamps upside down from cieling throw some 100 watt incan in there soft white and youll do fine
