If you had a pipe of differing lengths and they drop at the same time then the resistance of the magnetic field is more connected to gravity than the electromagnetic field is to the magnet. Interesting!
Reminds me of the feather falling the same time as the rock in a vacuum.
As we all should know, when a magnetic field passes through an inductor it will generate current. That current produces a magnetic field. That magnetic field is what is slowing down the fall of the magnet.
Another way to understand this is to think about the resistance you feel when you turn the shaft of a generator under load. That resistance to your truning the shaft is the some resistance the falling magnet is feeling as it falls, thus slowing it. SS

@sailingsolar Yeah but the magnetic field produces by the current has polarity opposite to that induced it.
