Wait, make another video to show me how to get to the point of being able to create the sounds to combine them together so I could start learning this by ear.
it seems to be an easy enough instrument to play along with a band BUT sounding good solo thats another thing and I cannt seem to be able to do a half descent lick
@LiTCHA1 get a honer marine band. c or g. its an awesome harp, and will last you forever. good for cross (blues) and straight (bob dylan type) harmonica playing.
Hi all. I am about to buy a harmonica. I know that as a beginner I shoud buy a C key harmonica....BUT I fell so much in love with the sound of a D-flat Special 20 that i heard recently that I really would love to buy that one instead. What do y'all think about it?. Will it make a big difference if a buy a d-flat S20 instead of a S20 in C ?. I heard that D-flat in a youtube vid called "Hohner Special 20 demonstration" by Ben Hewlett.

Finally a prayer. Id love to see a (free!) youtube vid on bending, that slowly and simply, in a play-a-long style, goes through the proper and precise bends on one or all keys. Id love to be able to sit here and bend along, hole by hole. Would be fantastic practise and allow me to assess my bending ability and progress.
Ricci is over my head. I like the fellow, but I simply dont have the inclination to even more than the most basic music theory. I bet Sonny Boy didnt need that to play the blues either. But as I said, I use selected vids from everybody, many more than mentioned here. If youve been scavenging youtube for harplessons, you know what I mean.
However, some suck less than others. Ronnie is definately one of the guys I return to all the time. This particular video is great for picking up a couple of licks, I enjoyed it very much and it speaks a lot to my level of skill. And Im not some 15 yr old kissing ass on the web. Im just saying, praise where praise is due. Ronnie is in my loosely arranged top 5 utube instructors along with Gussow, Sandy Weltman, that dude from finland Hakon Ehn (sp?), and resojoe.
Sometimes you wonder why Ricci never talks about how hard it is to KEEP THE BLUES while practising all those scales and musictheory, you should think he had experience (ouch!), and again, sometimes you wonder how some others have the audacity to pretend to instruct anyone w their mediocre skills..but they all come through w some help at some point, they all have good and bad videos..continue
I use some from everybody, as long as its free stuff. Of all the "instructors" on youtube, noone is good all the time, noone is bad all the time. Sometimes Gussow seems to be a somewhat shifty fella, filming under time stress in his car (wtf lol) and can seem somewhat arrogant towards players at beginner level, which brings me to Jason Ricci. Continue..
yes do that last bit you said. i bought a harmonica today and i know nothing about them and you seem to know what your talking about so PLEASE UPLOAD BEGINNER VIDEOS!!! :D:D
Nice video, specially with the C harmonica, im new to this, i have always loved th Harmonica, But never really played it(where I live getting one is not easy lol unless i travel far enough) So I bought this cheap 12 bucks Kmart First act Harmanica with a booklet, its not the best harmonica, but till I cant fin one lol, im stuck with this one, just wondering if You know about it and have any tips of a good beginners site, I DONT KNOW HOW TO READ MUSIC NOTES, and please let it be free :)
I've wanted to learn how to play the blues on the harmonica ever since i was 10, later i am going to get a harmonica, which brand would be the best, like cheap in price but not in quality?
Plese, someone help me,im hungarian, and i can't understand completely what he says, some sort of text could help me,when what i draw or blow. If the songs tab were written here, the last pieces i could understand. Thanks :)

hay love the vids. im new to all this love blues ok now for the Q&A i got a harmonica from a friend its a the american ace harmonica by horner in the key of C. well it dont sound like any of the ones ive seen on you tube in the key of C is ther a difference in harps like between mine an a blues harp an can it be fixed to sound like a blues harp?
All right, I may sound like a noob now but really..
I play guitar and banjo, and I saw a harmonica in the music store, and I bought it,..dont know anything about it. But..I just cant figure out how to do those bends and everything. All i can play is the intro part of the Rocky theme song.
(I bought this thing 2 days ago so I don't know much yet )
Hey Ronnie. Great video on the blues. I've just been listening to a bit of Muddy Waters and it got me grooving again. Had my harp away for a while after losing a bit of motivation, but watching your videos again gives me the drive to keep going and learning. Your the man
A bit of unsolicited advice.I bought all of Ronnie's material at one time about six weeks ago. He expedited the order quickly and included extras... really great stuff. I listen over and over and get something out of each session. Great value, really fun and useful material.
Ronnie is a great harp mentor. He is very effective at helping encourage players to experiment and learn new stuff by getting out of the "Comfort Zone". I would not likely have stuck with the instrument without help from great harp mentors like him.
Well some are and some aint, the guy offers heaps for free and with all the others around you should be able to work it out man, just absorb all the feeebies and learn. Good harpin!!!
ya, there is a ton of free stuff out there, including my own youtube videos, but the benefit of paying a bit and downloading material is that it allows you to practice in a more organized and more focused way. it allows you to go back over and over to review it from anywhere (car, ipod, computer etc). plus, it's affordable.
@RonnieShellist Hey Ronnie, I've been playing for about a month, just started bending the notes but can't seem to get my notes to sound like yours in that lick you do at 2.25. It's a C harp I have. Do you have any advice on getting more definitive notes. Great videos by the way!
i just went from folk harpto blues harp in three and a half minutes ... Whoooo:)
