  • ok so just made rhw video bigger.....lol he is sweating.....you would be too ....thay looks like a workput

  • @arch2wifey well when you think about it, the stage lights are really warm and he's moving around up there a lot as well as the fact that he's probably nervous.

  • @BluberryMonkeyMuffin i know.....my comment right after that was the realization lol ^_^

  • he is not sweating.....ita the lights shadows duh! lol

  • Again, your amazing as always! You were my inspiration to continue to learn ASL....I am now on my fourth year of learning....I was asked this past year to volunteer at an elementary school in a class room with deaf children! Thanks again, I probably wouldn't have done it till I saw your videos and saw how cool ASL is.

  • @anhsmna ever signed under stage lights for several hours? it happens

  • I wanna hear him sing. :)

  • Dude, I've been watching some of your vids. I didn't any sign language until I started working with a deaf/autistic 16 year old. Then I met my wife who has a deaf brother and her parents interpret for a living. I have come a long way and still have a ton to learn....absolutely astonished how quickly you spelled "Mick Jagger" hahaha.....finger spelling has never been my strong suit :)

  • man you are really good at asl i like to use PSE because it is easier for me but yeah really really cool and keep it up!!!

  • Nice performance!! You do ASL REALLY (2x) Good

  • the way he does this is amazing.

  • love this guy!

  • at the risk of sounding stupid, what does the sign you do for 'swagger' mean?

  • Comment removed

  • 2:24... i like your pit stains.. lol

jk.. Hey are you deaf because my sister is deaf and we know S.L obviously...

    But your AMAZING

  • @AJPsmoothsailin He isn't deaf, you can read it on his youtube page thingy.

  • @AJPsmoothsailin I thought deaf people talked in a very monotone way? (No he's not deaf)

  • @1313yeahboy deaf people dont talk at all rly

  • @AJPsmoothsailin But he's talking in this... why are you wondering if he's deaf?

  • @1313yeahboy

In other videos i guess he wasnt so i was wondering, didnt even think about that.

  • @1313yeahboy

    Idk, whatever

  • @AJPsmoothsailin Alot of D/deaf do if they're around people they know/are comfortable with.

  • @AJPsmoothsailin actually it depends, I myself am deaf and you would never knew it by the way I speak.

  • you are so adorable i cant stand it!

  • 1st, i love u...2nd, i love you and 3rd, your amazingly awesome and great, ur GRAWSOME!

  • Glee moment- Preforming Tik and also Tok by Key dollar sign Ha.

  • my playlist

  • WOOOO! this is awesome dude !

  • I want to learn how to sign the songs. i wish he would do videos ot teach how to sign the songs!

  • woahohahoh part... What is that sign??? I've seen Ally do it also, I just don't know what it is?? Sorry if it seems a stupid question, just wanta learn.

  • @Frubahboi

Well he took Ally's transliteration so they're pretty much signing the same. But about the sign I don't think it really is a word, just to go with the rhythm. But I might be wrong ^^

  • @KalB971 See, I was thinking much along the same lines, that it's more of a tempo, not-reallly-important-for-the-song kind of thing.

  • @Frubahboi Just means "singing."

  • @CaptainValor Makes sense, thank you.

  • @CaptainValor

No it doesnt, it means oh.

  • @Frubahboi no it means like "wow" so they use it like oooooooooooooo

  • @kellyteeter Yep, I know how it's used. :)

  • @Frubahboi in conversations, i'm pretty sure it can literally mean "wow", "awesome", "amazing", or anything along those lines. i think that's why they use it for "whoa". but i could be wrong. :)

  • @DisneyGirl741

    That's correct :)

  • @DisneyGirl741 You're right. :) I've started using it a lot more in conversation, and it can mean any of those if it's really hot out you can be like HOT+sign and it judst emphasizes. :)

  • GREAT JOB!!!! Im gonna show this to my 7 yr old daughter cuz she LOVES this song!

  • This was really funny...ur great..u dont just sign the song but i feel lik u act it too!

  • This actually makes me think about the lyrics and I must say... Kesha is a bit umm crazy...,

  • Tulsa FTW :)

  • Wow your great

  • love this as someone just learning this makes me want to learn more ; )

  • it gets hot under those lights :D

  • I am learning very basic ASL. Youtube has drawn be back into learning because some of the songs that are done are just so cool or beautiful. I have been practicing this song and have about 80% of it down. Thank you so much for making ASL cool to learn. I take what I have memorized in these songs and learn the word they mean and it has made learning the language so much easier.

  • The seven people who disliked this can go drive off a cliff.

  • this guy would make a fantastic actor!

  • personally i HATE this song...but you make it actually enjoyable xD

i loved the "swagger" and "smack" lol, so funny

  • how can you move your hands that fast to spell McJagger?!?!

  • I'm fluent in ASL, but i'm not too sure what he says between 0:31 and 0:34. i got past "listening to music", but after that i'm not sure. i know it ends with "party" and "tipsy/drunk". anyone?

  • @Mardenator He says "car" and "arrive"

  • @Mardenator "Trying to get a little bit tipsy"..

I'm talking pedicure on our toes, toes

Trying on all our clothes, clothes

Boys blowing up our phones, phones

    Drop-topping, playing our favorite CDs

    Pulling up to the parties

Trying to get a little bit tipsy

I got this from the internet by searching Ke$ha tik tok lyrics

  • OMG u r awesom!!!!

  • major props for fingerspelling mick jagger...

  • @anitsu89 That's my fave part too:DDDD

  • Just "introduced" you to Dutch social media, so deaf people and students in sign language interpretation can maybe use your example and follow your footsteps ;)

    Keep it going!

  • So, when it says p diddy, or mcjagger, are you spelling their names? Because thats pretty fast signing...

  • @Sya101 Yepp ^^

  • @Emmehzz <D That's awesome! One day I will sign as fast as you. I hope :)

  • Wow u would have to be pro at this to do this song... Only couse there fast lyrics.. awesome job!!!!

  • Thiiis has officially made my night XD

  • I'm really dissapointed that you used an interpretation so close to another interpretors. You really are a good signer, and you could have put originality into this, but you chose to copy someone elses. That's just sad. You have a great gift.

  • @haleytwilightfan

In the earlier video he stated that this interpretation was a homage to Ally.

  • @haleytwilightfan You know what you're saying is basically like telling someone to sing "a different type of English?"

ASL is a language, and though it may have different "dialects," there isn't much way to be original. It's like regular singing; there's only so much you can do to make it your own thing.

  • That does it. I'm in love. XD

  • @arbiter343 I personally have never seen pit stains look so good. :)

  • Thank you Stephen, Its been 4 years since i finshed my ASL 2/3 Classes and I forgot how ASL makes me feel. You reminded me of the passion i used to have and have since watching you videos and trying to mimic them Pulled out my old books and have began refreshing and learning more. So Thank you !!! :-D :-D

  • I didn't think i could love asl even more!! this is awesome!

  • I'm in ASL 3 and i get everything yur saying <3

  • are you hearing? or deaf?

  • I'm like in love with your vieos :)

I sign myself and you taught me a majority of the things I know. :DD

  • I think you did a FANTASTIC job with this! Rock on! and thanks for posting! Good work and it really helps me as I am learning. :)

  • I like both signed versions, but i'm used to Ally's cause i've seen hers first

  • I don't really listen to much music by Kesha, but I was fairly certain that I knew the lyrics. I watch this, and I realize that I had a few of the lyrics wrong. >>

Haha thanks for clearing it up!

And I like the way you really get into it. You look like you truly enjoy signing songs and I look forward to more videos from you. (:

  • love the signing and your videos!

    btw, nice pit stains XD

  • Great video! could use subtitles though ;-)

  • Geeze, people. Get over the sweat stains, everyone sweats, goodness. He's under hotlights and practically dancing, cool off.

PS. Great job! I love watching you sign songs! Incredible timing with the music!

  • dude are you sweat with ur armpit

  • @koolhatesme if you listend to the talking in part 5, you will hear his explanation why he copied allyballybabe

  • Calm down. If you actually watched the two videos next to each other they aren't identical, yes many are the same and he probably was inspired by allyballybabe (which is a complement, not an insult) to sign how he did. And what's with everyone criticizing his song choice? Get over it - it's still brilliant!

He's enjoying himself, everyone (except for you apparently) is enjoying, so get over yourself and let people do what they do.

  • @koolhatesme You don't see it in this video, but if you watch the whole video series of this presentation Stephen talks about his developed online friendship with Ally (It's the commentary after his take on Fireflies), and he states there that he's doing her gloss as a "cover" out of appreciation for Ally's inspiring him. He wasn't stealing it. He was doing a homage and giving her full credit for it.

  • @utplagal It is still not polite to virtually copy someones performance with out even asking them first, which he did not. She had no idea he was using her "inspiration"...

  • @jaytalex10 if you listen to the one before this, you''ll understand that he did ask permission to use it, and he does add his own signs

  • @ahadnagy167 really because i did re-watch it, and no where on there does he say he asked her permission... and on top of that, after this came out Ally posted on her page that he never asked her permission

AND the only sign i found different was that he added "TELL" when he says that the police said to go home...

  • Lol. That "swagger" part was really epic. I'm currently in ASL 1 and love watching these videos. I hope to become as good as you one day! (:

  • @CaptainValor

Don't let anyone bring you down by criticizing you. You do an amazing job :)

  • I can't talk on the signing cause I'm not fluent, but his musicality is spot on. As a musicologist, I say that in pop music lyrics take a backseat to rhythm, and he's communicating the rhythm. That's why he's signing so fast. So his gloss isn't spot on - what gloss is? Ally had the word integrity, but Stephen's nailed the rhythm. I think both are valuable and shouldn't be discounted. Either way, he's doing better than I ever could.

  • @utplagal Thank you! You *get* it. ^_^

  • @utplagal Not to mention you really can't compare the two people. I just started asl and even I know that people have different "accents" just like any other language. My teacher said that music interpretation is just that.. How "YOU" interpret the music. Right on dood!

  • this is totally awesome!!!

  • I love how you get all into it!

    it's so funny

  • you make intolerable songs entertaining and awesome! i love watching you do the sign language thats so cool that you are so fluent.

you should sign to Ballad of ST and Epiphany from Sweeney

  • another girl song????are you gay?ooppss.....sorry!1,000,0000+....post more new male song....better fit for you...your awesome!!tnx for reading!!!!!!LOL

  • 1:24 is really impressive. At least to someone who barely started learning ASL and gave up. XP

  • Lol i dont wanan be rude But you shouldnt Put ur hands up because your armpits look like they peed themselvs lol try to find a deodorant lol but your great

  • hahaha, ur funny

  • Wow that was a learning experience! I speak Israeli sign language, and it's so interesting to see the differences and similarities...I was really surprised to hear you say "classifiers"- I didn't realize ASL had that too! Anyways...very cool!

p.s: Do you also automatically translate every song you hear? :)

  • u were hot but your armpits where covered in swet

  • holy thats good hehe nice :D

  • my dream is to sign with you! =]

  • im deaf and this is awesome

  • That was really quite awesome. I just finished my 1st ASL class and performances like yours make me excited to learn more, quickly!

  • I find a song that is sung in sign language is alot more, how do i say, interesting. I myself and trying to learn sign language but don't have a formal class. It's not going very well but I'm trying to the best of my ability because ASL interests me very so. Very nice interpretation Stephen 5 Stars.

  • he signs too fast for me. can anyone tell me exactly what he signs in asl?

  • @elven157 the reason he is fast because the song is fast. It wouldn't really help a deaf person if he was 10-20 seconds behind the song really would it ?

  • Your reactions are priceless! =]

    I love it =]

  • Ally did the song WAY better. you rushed through it, and you shouldn't have stolen it! she had more expression, where as you tried to rush through it. Gave me a headache trying to keep up with your signing, SLOW DOWN!!

  • You are amazing

  • I for one don't mind a sweaty Stephen...hehehe.

I love how furiously you're signing - this is such a fast song. I really enjoy watching your videos.

  • wow u are so cute do u have a girlfriend.....lol joking

  • that looks much harder than party in the usa. My friend and I are doing the party in the usa asl for our school talent show

  • Okay, I think that there has been enough bickering about CaptainValor using AllyBallyBabe's interpretation - credit has been given and AllyBallyBabe has a great interpretation of this song. If I were to sign this song to convey the feeling, I think it would do the song justice to use her version, and I definately wouldn't mean any disrespect by it.

  • you're fantastic.

  • you're fantastic.

  • Whether it's a copy or not..it's still amazing and still sign language. It's kinda hard to not make things look the same at least a little. So give the guy a break-he's amazing at what he does.

  • The problem is that interpreting songs means it's your interpretation!!! Not copying someone else's otherwise it's pointless! He doesn't even do the classifiers correctly! If your gonna copy someone like Ally at least give it justice and come close to hers! I'm just not all that impressed with someone who copies, my ASL I students in 8th grade can do that!

  • @LuvnJAHf

by your logic, no one should post a song cover on youtube unless they've managed to equal or better the original version.

  • @Kitchensink108 By my logic you should not "straight out copy other people's interpretation!" That's lame....anyone can copy a signed song

  • @LuvnJAHf

Just like how no one should straight out copy (cover) other people's songs, because anyone can sing/play instruments? Yeah learning to play an instrument takes a lot of work, but so does learning how to sign. And stealing someone's interpretation? Basically the same as stealing someone's lyrics. I'm not really seeing the difference.

  • Well, I think Ke$ha is better looking, but this is very interesting. Well done.

  • you are amazingggggggggggggggggggggggg

  • Marry me. Please. :D

  • sweat stains dawg sweat stains

  • WOW, this looks a whole lot like Ally's!!

  • @LuvnJAHf it is ally's. read the description

  • Sweat stains or not, you're awesome! I love your videos! No one makes sign language as hott as you do!

  • I love your stuff too but all I could see was the underarm wetness uhhh. Wear just the dark colored t shirt without a lighter one over it :) (they make clinical strength deodorant now that really works.)

  • PUDDLE PITS!!!

  • he does that clock thing the wrong way....... wow....

  • @captainvalor what does ally think of your "version"?

  • This is awesome. i show all your videos to my friends. we like the one with your friend doing I gotta feeling the best. you look so much better than him dancing.

  • hahaha awesome. i love the facial expressions

  • Finnnaaalllly, I am sad to say that I have been really looking forward to this video ever since the last set. Like checking my e-mail each day, looking for that lovely update e-mail from youtube. I know get a life but I'm happy to say you did not disappoint. Well done Captain Valor! Ally does it a tiny (you can't see it but I'm making the tiny sign) bit better. Great job.

  • lol that was super awesome <3 best wishes for you man. too good

  • Holy crap.

  • March 7th is my birthday! I turned 28 then! What a cool coincidence :) I enjoy your enthusiasm. Going to see you sign would of been better then what I did on my birthday sigh :)

  • I like what you're doing, clearly you have some skills in ASL and a passion for interpreting music, maybe get an interpreter for your commentary to involve the Deaf community more, or subtitles at the least. Its easy for hearing people to watch this and think you're amazing, not that you're not,

  • @HobbesWheeler but i think Deaf people are out of the loop during your commentary and since ASL is the heart of Deaf culture, (usually i dont give my opinions on youtube videos lol, but i think you're on the brink of something great) I think it would be a good idea to keep the involvement of deaf people at the top of your priorities out of respect.

  • @HobbesWheeler You have some skill and are developing the opportunity to link the hearing and deaf communities through music and ASL. Good work, lead the way :)

  • @HobbesWheeler so yea, youtube didnt want me to post this hah, so i posted my thoughts on three different posts, read starting bottom up :) again, I like what you're doing, I'm curious where you run with it... maybe hit up D-PAN

  • @HobbesWheeler I think at the actual show they had ASL interpreters. :) But I understand what you mean

  • I laughed like a crazy person at your facial expression (!!!) at "swagger" and the whole "I'm talkin' 'bout everybody gettin' crunk / Boys tryin' to touch my junk / Gonna smack 'em if they gettin' too drunk" stanza.

    WHOOSH! /X sign/

  • I must say somehow I have avoided listening to this song until I watched this video. Everyone has been talking about this song for the past few months. Funny...the same thing happened with Fireflies. Never heard it until I watched your video. lol

    Most amusing dear!

  • I love it! Sweat stains and all

  • You're videos are so awesome! You should more rockish stuff like My Chemical Romance, Fall Out Boy that kind of stuff.

  • @AwesomelyAwsome I'd actually like to see him do something like "I'm Not Okay" that's be awesome
