YES! I was there! I lived in LR from 80-90, my teens. I went to & saw so much of this. I'm so happy to see this docu!
LR has an amazing music scene history. Me and my friends were really into what was going on. I virtually lived at Discount Records. And all these years after LR (left in 90), I've always looked for something that comes close -- and nothing does.
Somewhere I have a box of old faded posters announcing bands. We'd grab 'em from light poles around the city. Wish I could find them.
This is really impressive. I remember going to Vino's in the late 90's for punk/ska shows. I mean hell, I saw Alkaline Trio, The Blue Meanies, and MU330 in 1999 there. Oh, the memories.
But just to get into semantics for a moment, I wouldn't call a population of 200,000 people a "small town". It's not exactly a one stoplight "main street only" kind of place. And if you consider all the surrounding commuters, it's more like 800,000. Just sayin'.
In terms of the actual head count in our home, Arkansas, we're not really THAT small a place. But, in all honesty we have to consider just how many of that head count have ever actually BEEN to the venues that we love so dear, or know our musical history. It's sad to realize how very few is in that number. But hey, what the hell do I know?! I'm only a 16 year old musician filled to the brim with musical aspirations. hahaha
