Michael is my friend but vibrato is still far away from the original. I did the world premier of the NewB3 Ultimo in Frankfurt 2005. The portable is still too heavy and expensive. After more than 35 years at the old consoles let me tell you something: Nothing can replace the original totally!
If you want a B3 portable, look for a good conversion of a old original B3/C3/A100 or one of this great sounding BV, CV, B2, C2 models with added percussion. It´s cheaper and sounds better. T.C. Pfeiler
I've been playing Hammond for 45 years. And sold B-3 when I was younger. I can honestly say that the new B-3's are a very pathetic imitation of the real thing. I'll still stick to my old tonewheels. I'd like to modernize, but Hammond doesn't have it together yet. the discriminating and true musician can certainly hear the difference.
Ummmm..... No thanks. If Hammond REALLY wanted to impress somebody, they would re-release the old B3, tone wheels and all. They'd probably make millions of dollars in the process as well. The Wersi organ that I currently play has a better "B3" sound than this new Hammond. Until I can afford a decent B3, I'll keep playing what I have now.
I was skeptical at first, but despite the "brightness" described by some (it might be superior speaker design) I would imagine reliability is much improved by being solid state.
Not quite the same as the original, however...I feel that its a good thing that these have been developed and sound as good as they do because eventually, there will be no more originals left since tone generators and tone wheels are no longer produced anywhere
I agree with "cheesy" thing and it has NO HEART, a REAL Hammond does and its called a Tonewheel Generator. It is also too bright for a B3. They can put a man on the moon and do heart transplants but still cannot ever replicate tonewheels. Transistors are not and w3ill never replace valves.

it needs more on the grinder to reduce the brightness. amen its brighter than the real B3. why does this dude play cheesy shit, wheres the soul and dirt of B3 jazz
it is and stays digital... and a hammond sample stays a sample... not a real hammond.... you can hear it with or without real leslie.... I did a blind test with this and an original with the same drawbar, played over the same leslie... i heard it instant..... really.. It is a beautiful organ. But don't call it hammond..> A real hammond has tonewheels....
I have the new B-3 (B-3 portable) - - I think its pretty close actually but lacks balls. On full shout chords there's a digital wheeze... but if you play more modernistic, the sound is 99% indistinguishable. You can see a video of me playing the new NORD C1 without a Leslie on my vids... I think they got the sound. - - Of course, nothing beats the real thing, however, I think mechanical reliability and practical transport logistics are serious considerations...
indeed, it is fake :) And you can see and feel that! (if you have pianistic hands and eyes.... sorry, but I can hear it directly!!!!!! . Sorry that I have to dissapoint you... it is digital and you can hear that. That is the great difference between analoge and digital sound. Analoge is authentic. Digital is not..... and a real musician can hear dat immediantly...
According to your profile you're a psychic... wouldn't that give you somewhat of an unfair advantage over most normal musicians? I mean if you can tell things about people by just reading their vibes... then naturally you would just KNOW whether or not the person is playing a real Hammond by reading them... and it would have nothing to do with music. Have you ever considered that?
I really like his style. I thought that first song sounded like Oh Happy Day, I guess I wasn't the only one. Those sound people need to get it together, haha.
Michael, I really enjoyed hearing you play "Georgia" and other songs on your website? Love your style playing this song also. I am a fan of yours. Greetings from the US.
he's afreak - watch him play a very emotional "with a little help from my friends" on our channel!

Nothing will replace the old B3, but this one sounds pretty good. I'm sure it is a lot easier to load and unload! :)

Although the player is amazing, the best part is the horrendous feedback that occurs. Made me laugh.

God why do you organists keep chaning the drawbars slightly during songs it's pointless habit to show off.

One of the best on the B-3. Check out his stuff on the Hammond German website (de)

In the later part of his demo he also played Jimmy Smiths 'Back at the chicken shack'.
Always nice to hear a really good player like Falkenstein with a Hammond B-3.
