sorry to bother you again, but i had one more string of questions about the ending of the song. First, is Bb7 the same as Bb Major 7? If I wrote this down right, the 8 bars after the bridge were |Cm7 F7 | Cm7 F7 | Bb Major 7 | Bb Major7 |Dm7 G7| Dm7 G7| G7 | C7 |. So do you replace the last two bars with F, two strums, Bb7 (or Bb major 7?) for two strums, and then F again for four strums? Or do you add the F to Bb7 to F after those 8 bars?
@jrcboise The chords you describe ARE the bridge. BbMaj7 is different from Bb7. After the bridge you would play another 8 bars that are the same basically as the 2nd 8 bars (which are nearly the same as the 1st 8 bars). The form of the song is A A B A, where A is the first 8 bars, and B is the 8 bar bridge.
i think i posted this before but i'm doing some course work and does anyone know what they Key signature of this song is? not the time sig, the "key sig" ¬¬
I just want to say thank you so much for making these lessons. I recently had a guitar evaluation and chose this as a free song to play. I got an A :D. Just wanted to say thank you so much!
Love your version and explanation! (Yes, I watched your lesson in the right order, as a good boy!) Also love your beautiful brown eyes (tee-hee) But.. Do you know the version of the Cats and the Fiddle? They're lesser known as the Inkspots, but a lot jivier! They made recordings for bluebird in the 30s and 40s.
I really love your style and taste, You inspire me to post my own version of this song..
The last two minutes of this video are worth waiting for, even if you don't own a guitar, banjo, ukulele, lute, etc. MC states that the key is too low, that she has the plague, and that the rest of the Ink Spots are absent -- do we care? Not in the least! Thank you!
Thanks. Have you heard the faster version/arrangement? More of my touch in it, I think. But the ink Spots version is so iconic, it incurred the wrath of Spots-O-Philes.
you are so cool for posting this lesson.. thanks... i'm trying to work on old swing/jazz tunes. always looking for an understandable (?).. lesson.. anyway, you made this easy to understand and play along with. thanks for dabbling into the theory that goes into these classics.. please, pls, pls, post more jems like this in the future... p.s. i really liked your upbeat version, so charming *****
Great stuff!!! Can you tell me why in the US you talk about diminished 7th chords, we (certainly in my experience anyway) here in the UK just call them diminshed chords. Just curious.
splendid splendid! thanks very much.
