  • I love the welsh accent but their language is awful and pointless to learn x

  • it's so weird to hear her speaking with her natural accent, i love it.

  • Shit she sounds as Welsh as Cardiff water :)

  • I am confused. I live in south wales, I sound very similar to Catherine zeta Jones, but my friends in wales always say that I sound really posh, but when I go abroad people say that I sound really welsh, Wtf? Confusing stuff.

  • i am welsh, feels good to have that in common with a very famous actress, also christian bale y'know bat man is welsh, i am proud

  • I love Catherine Zeta-Jones, she's well lush!

  • Love her accent, it's welsh and american :)

  • my dad is from Swansea ^.^

  • Im from swansea and she still has it slightly but swansea girls are really really welsh! haha

  • Well no, actually. If you're a troll, you'd be making up bullshit in order to cause offence. Trolls lie.

Cathering Zeta-Jones is British. She was born in Wales, her mum is Irish, and her dad is Welsh. She's not Arabic, or Hispanic, or any of the things people have suggested. She's British.

  • @reilly500 WELSH, not British.

  • @abigailkristina Wales is part of Britain. Therefore, she IS British, as well as Welsh.

  • @reilly500 welsh first British second most people would say there welsh or English or Scottish they dont say im british i cant think of a single person in my whole life who said im British i think the only people who ever say the word british are Americans

  • @1ukjunglednbraver I said she was British because that's the simplist way to put it, considering she also has an Irish parent. Either way, saying she's British is not incorrect. Saying she's "not British", is though.

  • @reilly500 its not incorrect just as saying all people on earth are earthish alot of people wont be happy with that turn of phrase but yeh i get your point british people as you call them are either welsh Scottish English or northan Irish and they wouldnt ever say they were British first but yeh due to a lack of choice are british

  • @reilly500 You could actually say she's not british as the welsh flag has nothing to show its part in the british flag?, no dragon no green or red, And most Welsh Scottish and irish people don't consider themselves british atall. And if they had a choice they would be out of britain in a shot, Being part of britain gives the rest of us a bad name

  • @robpugh1 The Welsh flag is not part of the Union flag, therefore Wales is not part of Britain? It's still part of Britain.

And that's funny. I'm Scottish, with Irish family history, yet I consider myself British. Nor do I have plans to leave Britain any time soon.

  • @reilly500 obviously its still technically part of britain. And you arent WELSH. You have got part in the flag, If we ere even in the flag I still would rather be known as welsh than british, The british are known around the world as being well dickheads to be honest. And id rather not be part of that, its just my opinion. Always rather be Called Welsh than british, Proud to be Welsh. Cymru am byth. os bod yna unrhywyn yn cytuno codwch bawd ar hwn :D diolch.

  • @robpugh1 I never said I was Welsh. But you put Scots and the Irish on the list of people who don't identify with being British, so I'm pointing out I am a proud Scot with Irish heritage, yet I do consider myself British (although Ireland isn't part of Britian at all, btw). If you personally don't like you are British, that's perfectly fine. But don't start assuming almost everyone else feels the same way.

  • @robpugh1 Correction: the English are known around the world as being dickheads! ;) Actually without the politics, (Great) Britain refers to the island itself comprising England, Scotland and Wales (Northern Ireland not included funnily enough). The word Britain comes from the Welsh 'Prydain' in fact. In Irish, we call Wales 'An Bhreatain Bheag' and Welsh 'breatnais'. So historically and culturally, you are British but politically I can understand why you would wish to be seen as different.

  • @robpugh1 'An Bhreatain Bheag' actually means 'Small Britain'. Anyway, I see the Welsh and Scottish as different to the English being Irish and such. It's probably a sort of Celtic nationalism on my part. Isn't it funny how Wales means 'foreigner's land' when the Anglo-Saxons were more foreign than the Celtic inhabitants though? Éire agus an Bhreatain Bheag go brách - comharsana ceilteacha ;)

  • If shes from Wales then why does she look Hispanic?

Can someone explain this to me

  • @gatheringleaves shes tanned not hispanic, celtic Welsh and i think Irish

  • Just as in many other countries - India, many Arabian countries, Latin American countries, Spain and Italy - the people of Wales tend to be dark skinned and dark haired.

  • @mizsparrow how come???

  • @gatheringleaves A tan? not all Welsh people look the same...

  • Well your all wrong cause she was born and raised in wales so yeah

  • @supermario0192837465 *Northern Ireland is part of the UK. :/ read up.

  • @arthurorchard I am well aware of that. I also know that ireland is predominately catholic while northern ireland ( like the rest of the UK)predominately protestant, no need to "read up" on shit. I meant to word it the way it says on your passports ( the united kingdom of great britain and northern ireland) I had posted the comment and didn't feel the need to change it. how about instead of splitting hairs, you just realize what the point of the comment was.

  • @supermario0192837465 *BrE Realise. calm down, it's not Armageddon.

  • @arthurorchard It's annoying that I get comments from something I had typed 9 months ago. And the part about reading up struck me as passive aggressive, but your right, its not Armageddon.

  • isnt that soundtrack playing at 2:07 from Life as a House....?

  • Entrapment was a cool film.

  • @supermario0192837465 British don't have accents. It's how English is suppose to sound. All other English speakers have accents.

  • @DominicRiv Really? If you don't know anything about language, don't bother commenting about it. British english Has more variation in their accents than australia and america combined. Mancunian, Highland English, Cockney, and Anglo-Cornish are a couple of the so called "non-existent" british accents. Accents don't mean The language is spoken wrong, Its just a term for variations in any language and the dialects within them.

  • this is exactly how my mother talks, she is welsh.

  • @supermario0192837465 I believe the term is Trans-Atlantic accent. For those of us who have lived in both the Uk and the US for a significant amount of time we have our own blended accent.

  • @Fabipunkinola That might be true for a lot of people, but Madonna adopted it way to quick.

  • @supermario0192837465 Yes but the language is called "English", so we naturally speak the correct version by definition

  • stop argumentation about zetah she is real arabic girl from father & mother her brother took her with him when he went to study in england when she were 10 years old why he took his sister b cause they're orphans her brother always excellent in school & university he were recommended to goto england to study from there a big story started for both of them '' they're from arabian peninsula

  • @murgabable She's not arabic her parents are irish and welsh she was born in swansea look it up

  • @shyandavis

she Look semitic NoT iRISH WHY !!!!

  • @murgabable someone used wikipedia...

  • Catherine Zeta Jones she is arabic girl 100% both father &mother she came to england when she was 10 with her brother to study her brother were excellent in school he is very smart why she was with her brother to england cause they're orphan and he took her sist with him and in england big story started to both of them her real name was zetah

  • @murgabable are you a troll, or just really stupid?

  • @reilly500

what i didn't her or see any thing ,maybe i'm both but still ican say and see the truth

    Seytah she is arabic girl

  • Fairplay she hasn't lost her accent :)

  • She is One Hotty especially in The Rebound Dayummm

  • Catherine Zeta Jones, Kathryn Jenkins and Imogen Thomas are so hot, and made hotter by their accents.

  • i've never heard her speak in her actual accent, it's so strange! it's like it doesn't match her face haha

  • fuck ! At the very beginning of the video i thought it was... BORAT :) hahahahah

  • No group stays to their own, you pertained to the interbreeding yourself. The Spanish have a considerable moorish influence in their gene pool. I'm not interested in the beginnings of the Spanish, I was referring to the Spanish today. They have this influence where the other Celtic peoples don't. I used "descended" in the same way I'd say I'm descended from my grandfather. If this didn't convey then I suppose that's because my first language is Cymraeg. Cheers for bringing up a 5 month old point

  • @dimflamingo funny thing now: i was born in swansea.

  • @2threemiles

    Good for you. Me, Bethesda.

  • She doesn't sound Welsh in the slightest.

  • she hasn't got a strong welsh accent..

  • I've only ever heard her speak in an american accent and it seems strange listening to her with a Welsh accent. I love the Welsh :)

  • @fantaXDaddict

    Meh, she's a sheep-shagger in yank's clothing.

  • @fantaXDaddict its nice a few Americans have even heard of the place never mind like the accent and understand it

  • @1ukjunglednbraver I'm from England but don't know if any Americans have even heard of Wales as most of them think that Britain is just England.

  • @fantaXDaddict yeh there stupid and they dont seem to learn geography

  • Is that a Welsh accent?

  • @Castillaleon19

yeah but its really light now because shes been in america so long, you can hear it slightly but other people who are from the same place where she was born have a way heavier accent

  • @Castillaleon19 Yes, she is Welsh

  • she looks amazing, but her voice ruins it!

I've never heard her speak before, I thought she was going to sound as regal as she looks.

    Disappointing!

  • @Hen9207 she's welsh

  • @LeighLeighAdelaide england and wales are all part of the same state, and have identicle cultures. ok accents are different.

  • @saulwilliams56 well i speak we welsh so i wouldnt say i have the same culture of someone thats english.

they are separate country's and we dont have states in europe lol. its like saying americans and canadians are the same.

  • @3cartern ok you obviously dont understand what the UK, is. it is 4 countries one state. and we do have states in europe, there are states for every nation, or group of nations, like the UK. a government is head of state, like here the queen is head of state. and language is not culture, culture is way of life, and english and welsh have a very similar way of life, both go to pubs, both have fish and chips, etc. tbh youve got a chip on your shoulder

  • @LeighLeighAdelaide Que beuno! Vale, te voy hablar en espanol. Me refiero a que Madonna es una Americana que a perdida su accento Americano en menos de un Ano, y ahora habla con un accento britanico , igual como Catherine a perdida su accento por un accento Americano.I find it too conviniant you speak just one more language then me, and dont bother using a translator to answer back, because I will notice. Je pense que vous c'est un menteur, y tu ne parle pas francias, espanol, ou italiano!

  • In two recently published books, Blood of the Isles, by Brian Sykes and The Origins of the British, by Stephen Oppenheimer, both authors state that according to genetic evidence, most Welsh people, like most Britons, descend from the Iberian Peninsula, as a result of different migrations that took place during the Mesolithic and the Neolithic eras,

    watch?v=NJX9O-OgP3E

  • welsh accent! woooooo <3

  • I'm still trying to figure out why she's in Hollywood in the first place.

    Ah, that's it - Kerching!

  • This accent debate is based on some false ideas: people do not always choose to change the way they speak, some are particularly unconciously immitative, and others simply aquire local colouring over time. We are social animals and like when possible to fit in.

  • I think Welsh accents are my absolute favorite.

  • @Exayevie Me too. I've never heard CZJ's natural accent, and I think it's lovely.

  • @LeighLeighAdelaide the welsh would quite happily be their own country, believe me. it's just we aren't allowed to. like northern ireland isn't allowed to be part of ireland.

  • @LeighLeighAdelaide the welsh have a bit more pride than the english. most of us wouldn't give up out accents for anything.

  • Comment removed

  • @LeighLeighAdelaide i will explain it to u again=it is not up to u to choose what other peoples identity is or isnt.Would you like it if i told you what u were ? its funny that u cant undesrtand the basic concept of it not being up to anyone else to decide what identity people are or arent.By your argument i could say "Your Engish,therefore your Norman French or European" do u understand the basic principle here mmm? take issue with the 18 people who back me on her being a welsh woman ,babe ;}

  • i love her accent. Her voice is so seductive! Especially with the accent.

  • She she a good Welsh girl. She knows where shes from and keeps true to her homeland. Bravo Bravo.

  • @markos824 err, I don't think you know more about Britain than us. From what I have seen you are American. We are both English, and have lived in England all our lives, I think we are more knowledgeable of our own country than an American who has obviously never been is.

  • Comment removed

  • @markos824 haha thank you. If you don't know us, just don't make things up (:

  • Comment removed

  • @markos824 In that case, God bless Australia. And God bless me too. A lot. =)

  • Comment removed

  • @markos824 Lol why would god bless a country that has only been Christian for a few hundred years? When countries like Italy have been christian for thousands oh by the way thats if god even exists.

  • @NorthernerMatty123 well i dont believe god exists, but im welsh and speak it, wales is a catholic country not christian, the christians started a revival in 1904, and i fell within 4 years, but its strongly catholic, an ancient and modern people and language, and the best rugby and boxing teams ever haha

  • @6taffy7 I have one thing to say... Catholocism is a branch of Christianity wiki it if you want but yeah the same way that protestantism is a branch of the bigger christianity.

  • @NorthernerMatty123 actually christianity is a branch of catholicism, wiki is not an acurate port of fact, i suggest you look at history books, although i see your point

  • @6taffy7 not exactly

  • @JupeAma ok, explain?

  • @6taffy7 "Christianity: the religion derived from Jesus Christ, based on the Bible as sacred scripture and professed by Eastern, Roman Catholic and Protestant bodies." This definition (Webster's 9th New Collegiate) illustrates that Christianity is the larger religion, while Catholicism is the branch; not the other way around.

  • @6taffy7 Omg thats the dumbest thing ive ever heard what do they teach you in Wales? Catholocism is the original christianity okay? But then in late medieval times a man called Martin Luther who was German decided to break away from the catholic church and invent protestantism. There are many other branches of christianity such as Anglicanism in England and its former colonies also theres methodism, puritism and too many others to list. So basically their all from the same original religion.

  • @NorthernerMatty123 what a load of shit you have been taught, you know nothing, if your rwally sure back it up, ill put money on it that you cant

  • @6taffy7 Not quite. The first ORGANIZED Christian establishment was Catholic, but there were people who fit the definition of Christian before Catholicism.

  • @lookatdoor i went to catholic school for 12 years and catholicism is older and larger than christianity, my personal belief is to believe in god is ignorant and stupid

  • @6taffy7 That's like saying that dogs are older than canines.

  • @lookatdoor haha not at all, read what i said not what yout tiny mind tells you im saying

  • @6taffy7 Lol oh so everyone who disagrees with you and beats you're arguement with fact must have a puny mind? Wtf is wrong with you you remind me of Adolf Hitler i mean even if you're not religious you still have a retarded opinion of how the christian religion works. I along with 3 other people have made the same point and still you dont believe us really you do need to wake up out of you're fantasy world and you might wanna Wikipedia christianity.

  • @NorthernerMatty123 just i thought, you know fuck all then read comments on here then wiki it and paste a reply, not saying everyone who disagrees with me is stupid [just you], you call that knowledge?, for a start hitler was religious, so how can some one remind your of someone else when you know nothing about either of them?perhaps you look to argue online cause you have no friends and hate yourself, my opinion is the best part of you dribbled down your mothers leg and garggled by your uncle

  • @6taffy7 Well you know what my opinion is? My opinion is you're the one that started this pointless arguement in the first place and are much more likely to have no friends as you seem to act like a dick to everyone on Youtube lol. Is that how you act with people in real life? Are you bitter towards humans because you were bullied in high school you must be an ugly self conscious prick who cant stand to look at himself in the mirror. Either way you're clearly a nasty piece of shit.

  • @6taffy7 If you really think that insulting someones personal life on the internet for no reason whatsoever will go unnoticed then you must be a dumb prick so dont think you wont get a bit of banter yerself.

  • @NorthernerMatty123 read your own comments, i throw after you, seems to me you can give but you cant take? no i wasnt bullied and i didnt go to high school, i went to primary and comprehensive schools, not bitter to humans just the pathetic excuses for ones, ugly? thats a matter of opinion, but never been told i am, CUNT

  • @6taffy7 You idiot you've been proved wrong twice stop making yourself look like more of a fool you've obviously been brainwashed by catholic nuns.

  • @NorthernerMatty123 hey idiot, how is someones opinion proving me wrong, noone has stated a port of fact, and what? the catholic nuns have brainwashed me into not believing in god? read all comments and keep up clown, im not religious/stupid

  • @NorthernerMatty123 also italians are catholics, hence the vatican in rome haha

  • @Asxhmoula you know modern australia was founded by brits, sending welsh, scottish and irish convicts there, the most famous irish convict of all NED KELLY :]

  • @6taffy7 Eh... its actually a well known fact that English people have dominated Australia since it was discovered by English explorer James Cook (most English name ever right?) Theres a very small Welsh and Scottish population whilst English and Irish are the biggest but even compared to English Australians they are still a small community.

  • this is th worst youtube video i've ever seen what are they doing talking about nothing i want the answer

  • sometimes she speaks with an american accent, but i really prefer her welsh accent, i love my welsh accent, mine is really strong, i just wish she would use her welsh accent alot more and be proud of her accent and where she is from !! <3

    she is stunning :)

  • your are classed as british if your welsh, im welsh :)

  • @missrockchick11 lol so am i im from Swansea or Abertawe wat about u

  • @Symmonso96 im from Glynneath, the Neath valley, i love swansea :)

  • i know she's welsh and all, but she has a heavy hispanic look to her....i always thought she was hispanic.

  • @MDkid1

The native Britons were from Gallaecia in North-Western Spain. When the Anglo-Saxons invaded Southern Britain many of the original Britons were driven to the mountains of Wales and Cornwall. That's why the Cornish tend to look darker than the rest of England and the Welsh for the rest of Britain.

  • @NormbrettaMod oh! Thats very perceptive of you good sir! thank you.

  • @MDkid1 but i love how she compleatly changes when in character. like in zorro, no reservations, chicago, etc

  • @MDkid1 she's has greek in her, plus natural welsh looks a lot like she does, apart from lighter skin, and usually green to hazel eye's.

  • @MDkid1 thats because welsh people have the same roots as spanish people.

  • @TheRocknRollZebra

What the fuck? Spaniards are descended from the Moors. Welsh are Celtic through and through. How can you say they have the same roots?

  • @dimflamingo spaniards descended from the moors? do your research for gods sake

  • @2threemiles

What are you on about? Of course they are! Are you saying that the Spanish gene pool doesn't contain a huge Moorish influence, even though they were there for 800 years?

  • @dimflamingo you have just admitted to my point. how can they descend from moors if they were there for 800 years? and in truth, like in the middle east, each religion kept to their own. you will find that people in spain have 2 main cultures they descended from: celts and iberians. celts the north and the iberians in the rest, they mixed eventually (celtíberos) but you can see the differences today, look at the país vasco, cantabria or galicia, and then andalucia. "spaniards" are a mix

  • @MDkid1 I know, right? She also sounds like a different person. If I heard only her American accent and then her Welsh accent, without knowing who it was, I definitely could not tell the difference.

Also the the Welsh accent sounds alien to me. It's interesting. I guess this is what happens when your childhood is tied to hollywoodian production movies. Yeah, my nanny was the TV, you ain't gonna find many housewives or nannies in my country.

  • yes. she does.

  • @MDkid1 What exactly is your definition of a "hispanic"?

  • @MDkid1 WORD

  • @MDkid1 or Greek. Just Mediterranean in general.

  • I'd give anything to Catherine Zeta-Bone her !!!

  • holy sheepskin that's a welsh accent if I ever did hear one!

  • She doesn't speak in british accent I thought she's american !!

  • she used to live by me

  • she used to live by me.

  • shes pretty

  • Why does a british telivision network program old american shows... wtf

  • I have Welsh cousins but she sounds different

  • GEORGE STOBBART!!

  • @markos824 Actually we look the same as you we're just not nearly as vain and don't spend thousands on cosmetics and extreme cosmetic surgery... on credit and then can't pay it back :D :D

  • @Leanneeee93 british are cowards aswell

  • @generalgovna and how are we cowards?

  • @generalgovna fight me then if im a coward

  • @Symmonso96 yes, an internet fight. lets do it.....stupid

  • @markos824 She isnt British she is Welsh.

  • @PrettyTigerlilly Wales is part of Britain

  • @Symmonso96 Unfortunately!

  • @PrettyTigerlilly

omg ur so stupid? why wd u embarass urself by sayin tht!?

  • @markos824 You obvisouly haven't seen any british people or are too ignorant and stuck up to see anything other than your view of us. Of course some of us aren't the greatest looking, but you can't say all of us ugly, because bealieve it or not, we're not. So naturally, if we're all ugly, all amerians are fat, lazy, dumb, arrogant, ignorant and self-centered. It's not nice being stereotyped, so don't do it to others when you obvisouly know nothing about us.

  • She doesnt sound too welsh.

  • Hah. Her laugh is so funny xP Put on, oc, but funny ^^
