  • The man with the purple drum, John Fisher, probably knows more about the physics of the drumstick than any human alive today.

  • @mkhammer99 Wow someone who actually knows a bit about John i had the pleasure to be trained by him for months in my life for weeks at a time often he told me the story of him and Jim K. Jim told John he is the best drummer in the world hands down.

  • this is good, and they look so natural and like they're having fun. cheers! =D

  • first rule is -> never speak about the drumclub !

  • No one can argue that Top Secret is awesome at what they do. Their choreography is unmatched. That being said, there is not a drummer on this stage who is not a good enough drummer to be in Top Secret and there are several on this stage who are way better drummers than anyone Top Secret has ever had.

  • @BRICKDRAGLINE Top secret is girl guides compared to all these guys dont ever mention them fools in the same sentance as these men. Its like Girl guides against the British SAS Dont ever speak again.

  • AWESOME!

To take part in a cool drumming contest, check out the Tyfry.com drumming contest sponsored by Jim Kilpatrick, Scott Currie and Cameron's drumming studio. Loads of great prizes to be had.

  • I once witnessed an impromptu battle of the drums at the Aylmer, ON Legion one Remembrance Day after the services when we had all repaired to the Legion hall and were greeted by mugs of hot rum ('twas a bitter cold day). A little later the drummers of the St. Thomas, ON Police Pipe and Drum Band began. It went on close to 10-15 minutes. It was fierce, awesome, primeval. I'll never forget it.

  • HI HO SCOTLAND!!!!!!!!

  • 4:54 Jim Kilpatruck of ALL people drops his stick... that just shows were all human o.O

  • Just as the pipes are the most difficult and complex melodic instrument to learn, so highland snare drumming is the most advanced and technically complex form of percussion there is.

  • @piperbob2 Yes and clearly highland musicians' humility puts all others' to shame...

  • topo secret dont come close trust me

  • This is amazing!

  • mad props guys!!!

    love love the snare!

  • like it!

  • Wow

  • Oh Winter Storm... 2009 was my first time there and I've been looking forward to Winter Storm 2010 ever since. Its one of the best pipe and drum performances you can see without leaving the US

  • All drumming is very good to watch and listen to in its own way, but pipe band drumming is head and shoulders above the rest..drummers at the highest level as seen here would own any kit drummers and every other form of drumming on technicality, expression, ability to play in unison and sheer variety of rudiments. It is so good to see the best performing toether..real masters and in a class of their own. Great show of talent and skill!!!

  • a bit like what the top secret drum corps did, though.

  • Similar, yes, except the drum salute they are playing (by Alex Duthart) was written long before Top Secret existed. Top Secret borrows a lot from scottish drumming, and American DCI drumming.

  • The very best of the best from top pipe bands. Their names are in the video info.

  • There very together - Who r they??

  • the drummers did this at the red hot chillie pipers blast i got dvd

  • I got a hanker for a hunk of cheeeeeese.

  • wonderful coordination!! grreat sutff

  • Yeah go John Fisher!!!

  • great guys ;) 5*

  • This is really freaking sweet.

  • now thats how you tune a snare drum

  • i love the sounds of those snares

  • stop fucking fighting you wankers and enjoy the bloody fucking show...and grow some balls

  • would you two prick,s ever fuck off, drumming is around a lot longer than the two style,s you,s are talking about,

  • Hilarious, good work.

  • some did drop his drumstciks at 4:55 and 4:58 then he picked it up.

  • Wow, these two arguing losers have too much time on their hands to fight like kids over the net.. pathetic and lame! Good video!

  • They kick major ass!

  • trust tyler fry is an arse

  • All the wars should be like this!! :)

  • OMG once again ty fry never fails to impress us an i right or what i take tenor now but think i might want to take snare next year think i should????

    ~~~~ty fry is so cute!!!~~~
    ~~~~ty fry is so cute!!!~~~

  • Meh, it's good and all, but... the drum is sound is REALLY irritating. Gah.

  • trust me, once you listen to it for a while, its not that bad.

  • Its amazing what people can do with a pair of sticks. Jimmy Kilpatrick and Tyler Fry are awsome with sticks in hand. Blair Brown and Eric Ward aint bad either

  • hey reid maxwell is in here and i can play this fanfare LOL

  • GO SFU WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

  • I love how from 3:15 to 3:21, Jim Kilpatrick plays the 16th note triplets with one hand, because he can!

Truly a great line up and one of the tightest versions of Max Rayne I've heard in a while. Which one was J. Reid Maxwell, and which one was Eric Ward? I couldn't tell from the vid (really bad eyesight...)

  • Comment removed

  • Well I play Scottish snare drum, so I've researched the guys who play. This is awesome to see all of them together!

  • the better question is "HOW DO YOU NOT KNOW WHO THEY ARE" !!!!?

  • that's sick, I may have to rip a few of these licks for my drumline.

  • wat no black people

  • what a stupid question, they picked world champs at scottish snare drum style, so if there isnt any black people there then its because there aren't any scottish drumming world champions who black, dont bring your ignorant "know black people" crap in here

  • I hope you people understand that half these people are all from different bands and they put this amazing set together in just the two days that they'd been there.

I was there. I know. It was awesome.

  • This is grand........gonna show this to our drum sargent...good to see drum corp doing it for fun....(we're just a street / parade band Va. Highlands P&B(no comp)...if your not having a good time with it..becomes more like work.

  • Well that is the most well-known fanfare ever. I know it.

  • C'est tout simplement génial!!!

  • your an idiot, this is just for fun you fucking fanny. DCI has no where as much skill as pipe band drumming

  • eh? watch your toung there, DCI has the skill, just not the flash, and look at it this way, in Drum Corps it's kids from 16 - 21 not (from what it looks to be) 2? - ?? so just chill out saying stuff about drum corps.

  • you sound tuff on your keyboard bt i would like to see you say that to one of those drummers, you have no idea how much better they are than DCI drummers

  • sick singles at 1:40

  • u copied that from the tattoo? top secret drum core from bazild in switserland:)

  • dude, people have been doing that for years, albeit not as awesome as swiss drum corps lol

  • That was really tight!

Old men in dresses out play young guys in leotards! ;-)

  • jim kilpatrick (i think) dropped his stick! as if he would drop his stick!

  • Doesnt That Look Remarkably Similar To Top Secret Drum Corps?

  • thats salute to max rayne... written many years before the top secret drum corps even existed.

  • the way it should be done great stuff

  • Love it! Always have, always will.

  • ok first of all secret is a corps that plays together this is just a bunch of the best scottish drummers getting together to have some fun second the sword fight thing was from secret third secret is playing a completely different style of drumming from this there doing more DCI which is nothing at all like scottish drumming its like comparing apples to oranges

  • Not bad, considering it was basically unrehearsed. This is just a bunch of instructors and gold-medal drummers from different bands playing after a workshop.

  • @causticpuppy Doesn't look unrehearsed to me.

  • oh the dirt haha pretty cool though

  • lol dude in the corner drops his stick at 4:54

  • ROFL NICE NICE NICE!!!

  • That was so sexy...

  • Watch the Top Secret Drum Corps videos on here sometime. They fall very heavily under this category of playing. Nifty stuff. Very clean rolls

  • thats pretty rad... but i prefer full battery percussion more.. like 3 quads, 5 tonal pitched basses, and about 7 snares... thats my fave line... pipe doesnt realy appeal to me.. but thats pretty cool still..

  • john fisher and scott robertson both my private teachers for a while. both super good

  • Ahm In A FLute Band But Drummins Nothin Like That . thats Amazin !!!

  • I don't really like pipe band drumming that much, but I really enjoyed this for some reason.

  • Well yeah.. it's better when you remove the bagpipes. :-)

  • @causticpuppy Drums are nothing without the pipes :-)))

  • i wish the motha fukin people will shut up

  • does anybody know aubrey adams? retired USAF percussionist?

  • Yea. He used to be my teacher, but for some reason I stopped taking lessons. He's great though.

  • North Texas State, 1979. Wind ensemble percussion section

  • Aubrey Adams, NTSU, 1979

  • hell yeah he's the man how do u know him?

  • ya, it was better in person. But still loved to watch it again and thanks for posting

  • Where can you get the music for this? It's great!

  • 3 points sleepysancho.... 1) Pipe band drumming is heavily based on swiss drumming. 2) I've seen your videos and you DON'T do anything like Swiss drumming. 3) I've seen your videos and you're a pretty poor drummer with very little technical ability.

  • I have to agree scottish drumming is based on it but it has Jazz and Trad influences

  • all my videos are of drumset...... i'll post some swiss stuff if that's what you really want, just let me know. and i'm only 17 so im not really going to be tommy igoe or anything

  • if you are seriously telling me you watched some videos or even saw the top secret drumming corp and think that scottish style drumming is a copy of that then you have no right to tell anyone that they suck or not. there was scottish style drumming LONG before the top secret drum corps

  • The top secret drum corps is a drum corps from Switzerland that use various influences in their playing. Traditional swiss drumming has been around for years...every bit as long as Scottish pipe band drumming. Alex Duthart, one of the biggest developers of pipe band drumming took a lot of his influences from Dr Fritz Berger...a top SWISS drummer! Get your facts right!

  • maybe you need glasses, i said copy, i did not say that swiss style drumming had no influence on MODERN scottish style drumming but maybe you havent realized that a lot of MODERN scottish drumming is original work, some use jazz, even latin styles to infleunce and create unique pieces, i also said that most people on here dont hav e any right to say ANY of these featured drummers suck, so tell me, are you alex duthart, or john scullion, or john fisher, or even jim kilpatrick? didnt think so

  • Maybe it's you that needs glasses! If you read my original post, I said "much of Pipe Band Drumming is BASED on Swiss Drumming"..at no point did I say it was a copy of it! You don't need to tell me what Pipe Band drumming is based on...I've been doing it for 26 years, many of them in top grades.

I'd have a hard job being Alex as he passed away almost 22 years ago! And I don't need to be any of the others to be entitled to an opinion.

  • I'm thinking that maybe you think I'm arguing that Scottish drumming is poor...far from it. My comment was directed against "sleepysancho" who commented that "scottish drumming is so gay swiss is the only way to go". I then viewed videos of him playing...and he's a very poor player, so therefore I felt the need to berate his comments. I'm not apologising for defending pipe band drumming which, in my view is the most technical genre of drumming out there (with occasional exceptions of jazz).

  • no i would defend scottish drumming to and will admit i am amazed to hear you have been playing for 26 years, its my goal to be that dedicated to it to, what bands have you played in?

I apologize for the other stuff, i thought you were some noob drummer who thought they knew everything and was making the statement that scottish drumming is just a bunch of copys of other styles. yes you are entitled to your own opinion, just thought that you were making scottish style drumming sound bad...

  • so i had to defend it, you understand. I agree with your opinion that scottish drumming is the most technical style of drumming except for "some" jazz, both styles which I have had the pleasure of playing.

  • scottish drumming is so gay swiss is the only way to go

  • Hum yeah it's 2 very different styles, keep your's we'll keep our own...

  • Buhaha. Swiss is third when compared to Scottish and American drum corps styles. Swiss style sticks are fun though.

  • you did not see them at tattoo, so

    caus they really shocked audience.

  • whats that flag doing behind a scottish drum line

  • Nice rendition of three camps!

  • i alwase go to winter storm but i cant this year. they do this almost every year. cool video! i whent up to go see john this year though.

  • Ok well... I'm going to actually comment on this and say that this year's drum salute was WAY better than last year's! >.<

  • that was great
