• personally I think it is very important that poor people have there television or they may wake up realise how badly there are getting screwed and do something about it.

Personally as long as my mind is suitably numbed with entertainment I really can't be asked with activism, take that away and I could be dangerous. I think anyway it's way to much effort to experiment.

  • As media student I disagree in some of your statements. Studies show that people use television as relaxation, away from the every day stress. So most people actually dont want to do something else. There is also a difference between being entertained and entertaining yourself. Smart-tv, internett and gaming, all call for you to interact. You can't compere these two actions. Finally, age matters.

  • As of February 17, 2009 Teletubbies will no long work because they receive their television through an antennae on their head.

  • Rosie Jones you are opinionated, and I love you for that.

  • I agree with everything you've said. I watch so little TV. :D

  • I don't think it was really the transition to digital television that people were upset about, but the fact that the government was mandating it. There are plenty of things I want to happen but don't want the government to mandate. For example, I want everyone to stop smoking around me. I want people to start thinking with their brains and not their emotions. But I don't want the government involved in any of it. Especially the mundane stuff like television.

  • Lol "okay?"

  • Most TV's made in the last five years contain the digital receivers and most people who have older TVs have satellite and cable services or stand alone digital receivers.

Many people believe they will have to do away with their analogue TV altogether and no matter how many times I tell them they already receive a subscriber service or a digital box, they still think their TV will not work.

I have a friend who thinks this with his games consoles too.

  • I live in tornado alley and it's extremely important to have access to a TV during severe weather. One would think that tornado sirens would be enough warning but for some unknown reason they will set them off for an entire county when the storm is on a far edge and heading out of it. The radio isn't much help either, the meteorologists don't focus on it and you can never really know where exactly the storm is by listening. That's my only complaint.

  • this transition was rubbish, very laggy. the sligghtest breeze sets it off.

  • This has been a ZJ PSA. We will now return you to your regular broadcasting...

  • Dont give a fuck, i got netflix. Better for the brain. I only watch something if i like it and choose to.

  • I used to be CFO of a Moscow Tv co called DTV.

  • Dude, you are hilarious!

  • I spend all my time in my house. Besides the therapist my parents make me go to every 2 weeks and school (which is out now), I don't go anywhere. At all. Even so, I can't remember the last time I watched TV. I think it was sometime in February when my dad made me watch Two and a Half Men with him. If I want to watch a show, like Penn & Teller Bullshit or Cowboy Bebop, I either order it on Netflix or watch it online. I don't see why people need TV.

  • I get something like six channels, and I never watch any of them. I just use the internet for looking at TV broadcasts.

  • the only channels worth watch is discovery, discovery science, discovery world, natinal geogephic and history.the rest is usually shit.

  • Don't you just love how all these services that used to be free are now getting more and more expensive? The internet was originally designed to be a free flow of information. TV used to be free. Radio is still free, thankfully. It's the only thing that stayed true to the idea.

  • Television. Valet parking for the mind.

  • You know, Iw as planning on making a video VERY similar to this back last year, but work just took up too much time for me to make it. Glad someone said basically the same thing I would have :D

what killed me were the idiots who thought this meant they would have "HDTV" now.. on their 10 year old TV.

It was impossible to explain to them that the signal transit method and the viewing device were 2 different things, and without one or the other you get SD only. That simple.

    HD source + HDTV=HD

  • You may not mean to project your priorities onto everyone else, but that's exactly what you've done.

DIsabled people, like me, give a fuck if our TV stops working. This transition has cost people like me money we can't afford, for something that didn't need to be fixed. I was fine with analog TV. With digital, a weak signal is the same as no signal, so I've actually lost channels.

You have cable? FIne. If this effected only cable TV, I wouldn't care. I can't afford it.

  • I couldn't agree more. The more I watch your channel, the more I love you, ZJ! <3

  • Screw T.V. READ A BOOK!!!

  • you give some great options

  • This transition is due to 9/11. Just read the PUBLIC LAW 109171—FEB. 8, 2006.

It is all about HOMELAND SECURITY. The patent #20060007222 for this technology states that "An integrated sensing display is disclosed. The sensing display includes display elements integrated with image sensing elements. As a result, the integrated sensing device can not only output images (e.g., as a display) but also input images (e.g., as a camera). " Which means yout Tv screen is a camera.

  • Hillarious.

  • Awesom rant !!! :)

  • Could THIS be the advertisement? This is sooo much more encouraging and constructive.

  • but actually when you think about that she will still have the tv it isn't sound that convincing.

  • ", i think that you are weird funny retared cause you kinda look like it "

Wow, nice job showing off your arrogance and prejudice.

Your intelligence isn't on your face in the way you talk, its in your brain. There's no way you analyzed his brains capabilities during the coarse of an internet video.

  • I think you need to take an english language course because I think you were speaking in another language. :D

  • I glad that you state all the facts unbiased to begin with THEN you give your opinion.

  • It's all about Youtube now anyways . . .

  • It beams pictures into my brain‽

  • One of my TVs is old, running on Attic antenna.

I was getting around 14 channels. Some perfectly clear,

some a bit snowy, but, none the less, 14 viewable channels.

I did get converter box, and hooked it up, only to find out

that now all I get is 2 channels. The ones with the strongest

signal. What no one said is that for the converter box to

work, signal MUST be strong to begin with. If it doesnt

meet certain strength, it gets ignored. What a f*&^%d up

    deal this is

  • The quote "willfully ignorant" people will never get a converter box until they have to. No amount of proaganda will make difference... they are just "willfully" this way.

  • The only part that needs correcting is where you say it only affects antenna users. This is not true. Many cable providers still allow people to hook the cable directly to their analog TV without a cable box. Unless their TVs have a digital tuner built in, they too will be left w/o TV service. If you are using cable service WITH a cable box, then you are correct, they will not be affected.

  • I dislike the blanket statement that "television is trash anyway so you should just suck it up", but it is worth noting that those who disagree with you will almost exclusively subscribe to cable or satellite anyway. I simply do not forsee a scenario in which an individual enthusiastically enjoys television yet has not subscribed to cable and will not pay $40 for continued broadcast. Refunds can be issued after the fact if any anally-retentive cheapskates bitch about their $40 deficit.

  • Yeah I'm not exactly practicing what I preach here. New season of 24 tonight!

  • shit I completely forgot

I even watched the movie in preparation!

  • @faber939 tv sucks they air the same programming over and over again you cant watch what you want and when you want and there are regulation on what can be aired so screw it in my house i have 3 tv's one for video games ,second for computer display, and third one for dvd's and blu'rays

  • Will I need to get this converter box in order to watch this channel in February?

  • I watch house

  • Just glad that I don't live in America....

  • Most of my friends don't even have a tv. I have one, but only watch a few stations - I have cable though (you don't get shit if you don't have cable in Canada)

  • lol i love this video

  • What is this "TV" of which you speak?

  • That's a great question. Let me know when you find out.

  • I don't even own a TV set; I get all my shows as podcasts.

  • The "OK?" at the end sounds funny.

  • I was thinking the same thing. It was like, "GRAAAAAARGH...! Okay?" Heh.

  • Son, you need to take an anger management class if this upsets you so much.

  • ....WOO....,
