Can anyone tell me what the best settings are for movies, not just home videos that you would take for peoples birthdays, but for movies. I don't expect it to look like a professional camera for the big movies. But you know what I mean, right?

If it's night use sunset mode. Or go to scene selection and try out different modes that suit you. You wil see the screen changes according to the mode. Never use night plus mode if you need a quality movie in the night or in darkness. It hugely saturates the colours (in fact comes in black and white. I use also a Ultra Vialate (UV) lense to protect the lense.

I just got one of these for my birthday. I've only had it for a day but here's what I think about it so far, Pros: Optical zoom (40x) Digital zoom (2000x) Nightshot plus Price (it's not too bad) Picture is very good Battery life is long Carl Zeiss lens Steadyshot Cons: If you're wanting to take still pictures, you can't. No other cons.

Yes, I really like mine. Got it about 4 months ago now. A pro IMO also, is the size of the camcorder--very small which makes it easier to handle. Thanks for the list of pros and cons though--much appreciated! :-)
