I take it martin wasnt happy with the royalities for repeats at the time of this doc.I remember seeing it on ch4,thats why he wouldnt approve the repeats.Hey,now you have it with minder, and my personal fav the sweeney on itv4.Fantastic.
There was a lot of racism there yes, but for me the main thing about that ep was that it was AGAINST racism really and even venom-spitting Bodie had the sense to apologize in the end. LOL it was fascinating to see how uncomfortable Lew was when talking about that episode, he seemed to be really ashamed of Bodie there!
That is so true. It also portrayed the racists as stupid as there actual master was coloured. Also at the end Bodie came round and it showed that racism was a problem that could be dealt with (as it was a big problem in that era!)
Thanks so much 4 this upload greenheart45. I have never seen this documentary until now, and have always liked The Professionals above any programme I have watched to this day. Lewis,Gordon and Martin were so perfectly cast, despite 1 or 2 misgivings on their part at times! For sheer action, grit, humour, interesting plots it is unmatched in my book. A pleasure to watch when I was aged 8,and still just as much aged 36! If you want the best - get The Professionals!
love the pros but martin shaw comes across as a total knob end. would love to hae a pint with lew though he seemsa dead down to earth guy. bet the banter with him would be crackin. good post:)
Sooo glad it's back on telly. I didn't "get it" when I was 6! All I knew was "Doyle had fluffy hair" :-)

I know that MG's in the 70's were ropey, but how soft was that door when Bodie punched it?

Priceless clip, this. I only read their interviews on papers and mags before, never a tv interview. Nice to see the guys talk about Pros.

Does anyone think that Lewis Collins is more than a little camp?
Especially when he says 'The big taboo one was when we did Klansman'.

i saw the pros today on ITV4 @ 11am.....they are always showing it.......which is nice.
keefybaby2007 3 years ago 7
Yes, but they don't show all the episodes nor in any meaningful order. Plus the Klansmen episode is still taboo, though you can get it on DVD.

The story goes that he relented on the showing of repeats when it was pointed out that Gordon Jackson's widow could do with the money.

I can't believe that The Professionals have not been on screen in UK since 1988... such a shame...
