It is a real shame this historical buidling will be turned into scrap metal and a parking lot because it is old and not used anymore plus this Pittsburgh historical society lost its bid to make it a historical landmark. RIP civic arena you had many great memories. Never raised a Stanley Cup in the burgh but many many happy memories.

Sadly its time has come... Demolition started on Sept. 26. It won't be traditionaly demolished though. It will be disassembled over time. It's supposed to be done in May of 2012

This is just awesome. Great job putting it together. Though I'm a born and bred St. Louis Blues fan, the Pens have always been my Eastern conference team. My first and last game at the Igloo was 11/14/2009, when Bill Guerin scored the game tying goal with 0.4 on the clock. That was probably the most exciting game I have ever attended. It still seems surreal that I was a part of it. I'm looking forward to my first game at CEC on 11/15 this year!

I cried the last game of 3 I ever got to go to at the igloo because I knew I'd never get to go back inside. Never have another moment when I first saw the fog coming off the ice as soon as the gates were open and the lights were coming on. Never get the chills that you had sitting inside. I'm a huge Flyers fan, and I absolutely hate the Pens. I can't deny the fact this is probably one of the greatest venues in the NHL though. Lots of history in there and I have to say enjoyed watching games in the igloo

the shark fin comes from the first run at the playoffs in 1990 thru 96 they would play the jaws theme for the start of a power play and the shark fins were put on the seats before te start of te game and sold in the news papers. it was a sight to see a whole arena of them.
