  • does it hurt when it got pricked and how you prick the finger?

  • @imalittlechicky There is a setting to how much the needle prick the finger. With the correct setting it does not hurt.

  • but wait wasnt it 66?? she is supposed to eat something not get a shot! rite?? oh well idk it must be different where they live probably

  • It was 6.6.. That is a metric thing.. lol.. i was thinking the same thing til i heard the guy say "point"

  • Y is she wearing a mask? just wonding :)

  • She was playing doctor at that time...

  • haha that is so cute, my mother gave me her scrubs when i was young and i use to dress up as a doctor :)

  • When I was diagnosed with this, I was 12 and had to be hospitalized. According to the doctors, they said I was over 44.5 (in mmol/l) or over 800 (in mg/dl). I haven't been that high since, though I've had high sugars in the 400 to 600 (mg/dl) range (22.2 to 33.3 mmol/l). It's a long story and there's not enough characaters on YouTube to tell you it.

  • 6.6 is what my blood is around now but it normally goes from 5.0 to 11.5 depending on my sugar levels. I was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes a couple of days before last christmas. It was a HUGE shock but Ive learned to adept to everything it throws my way. When I was diagnosed my blood was 15.5. But it's gone down a lot now and it varies :).

  • My daughter's blood sugar level was over 40 when she was diagnosed.

  • Wow that's very high! I hope your daughter is getting used to the blood testing and insulin injections. It takes a while to do so though, I wish her the best of luck :).

  • @ShineMystics hi my 8 yr old son was diagnosed last year and when he got admitted to hospital he was 26.9!!! now things are more stabilised he between 4 and 10, but more often than not quite low at around 3! hope ure health care is good as we do not have a great system here! more often than not left to get on with it!!

  • @MsJiggy45 Hope your son is doing well. My blood has come down a lot since my last post, so everything is getting better. :)

  • 6.6? my machine must be a different type of thing because my target range is 70-150 o.0

  • Most countries use mmol/l. USA uses mg/dl. 6.6mmol/l is 118mg/dl.

  • She is so much more brave than I am! I am almost 23 years old and diagnosed type 1 yesterday, I am such a coward with the needles :( But I am looking forward to see a 6.6 on my meter, right now it is saying 20 :O

  • She was diagnosed with type 1 in January 2008. She is nearly 8 years old. For a parent, it is hard to see your one and only child suffer.

  • Wow, then she is very new with it too! And already looks like she doesn't mind it too much. It is never easy to see someone around suffer :( I remember when one of my best friends was diagnosed in 2004, I was quite sad then, but luckily she doesn't mind living with diabetes. It was my friend who diagnosed me... I can't even imagine what it must be like to have a child diagnosed with diabetes

    :(

  • At first, it was quite sad and devastating. 2 weeks before my daugther was diagnosed with diabetes, my dad died. He was 65 years old and also had diabetes (type 2). It felt like I was given a double blow in the heart.

  • Oh, I am so sorry to hear that :(

My friend, who has type 1 too, she said to me that being diagnosed with type 1 diabetes is not the end of the world, to me it felt a bit like it was going to be, because of my needle phobia, but now, after 2 days, it starts to feel less and less bad and I can manage the needles better too. Your daughter is so brave! When I watched the video, I thought she had been diabetic for much longer, she looks so experienced with it!

  • Yes, it is not the end. You to adjust your lifestyle a bit. I think the hardest past is the food. She always asked me what she can eat and when to eat. There is always hope. Probably the will be a cure for diabetes in a few years time, just hang on for awhile. There is a research done by Dr Denise L Faustman to cure diabetes, you can google her name.

  • I find the most difficult part is to have time for everything. Now I have to take a pause from things to check my blood and maybe eat or inject, most of the time I need to take some more insulin. My blood sugar is going down now though :)

  • i have a question... im just watching these vids because im bored but i thought a normal glucose level was like a hundrerd??? what is the difference why do you want yours so low???

  • a normal glucose level is between 4 and 7

  • i coping perfectly at 13 years old and i was only diagnosed on the 31st of may 2008

  • She was playing doctor at that time :)

  • Keeping it clean is good, but i just have to ask... Why the mouthprotection and hat just for a small fingerprick and insulin injection? It's definitely not needed.
