  • but that would be weird since they already casted luke and *SPOILERS* darth vader is his father and all...

  • george lucas intended darth vader to be black

  • MUFASA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @Hurrican3AJ1 What? CGI nowadays does NOT look more realistic than these models and its still incredibly obvious when its being used in a movie. When CGI was first being used in movies like Jurassic Park and T2 it looked great, probably because of how incredibly little they used it, but nowadays its the biggest intellectually lazy crutch used. I cant imagine how bad these movies would have looked if Lucas was able to go the prequel route with CGI

  • John Williams is simply the best there is, even today. A pure, musical genius.

  • RIP James Earl Jones

  • @sexynelson100 He's not dead.

  • @sexynelson100 James Earl Jones is still alive. What on earth made you think that he's dead?

  • @MeTube2476 IS IT ??? I heard it on a UK news channel. SORRY !!!

long live james earl jones x

  • @Hurrican3AJ1

LOL again. "Sure, they LOOK real ..."

Actually, I hate BAD modelling as much as I hate bad CGI, but CGI always looks bad.

What does a REAL "Super Star Destroyer Crash" (sic) look like? (I think there's some documentary footage around here somewhere, snicker.)

You're just a young person who's a bit hotheaded and eager to dispense with the past (like, y'know, where Star Wars comes from: 1977) .

  • @MadHighway "They look real" is accurate. After all, the toys and actual objects that exist.

  • @Hurrican3AJ1 Wow, a model "looks more real", but CGI "isn't THAT bad" because it's "infinitely easier."

So in other words CGI is easy way out and it doesn't look real. Gotchathanx!

  • THat's right hippies, you actualy needed target, quota's and work ethic to get something done. Otherwise, stay in bed and be fanciful

  • im so happy vadar wasnt a scottish douche

  • the way this film was created is a lesson in it self. think outside the box!

  • Thats an intresting take for a suite(the excecutive guy) he was right, knew exactly what he was seeing

  • Imagine..... A Scottish Darth Vader.....

  • But the model of bluescreen (or greenscreen) matte is actually better than CGI unless they have weird edges.

  • @phantombest1220 However sometimes CG makes the shot more 'clean'. Maybe that's why Lucasfilm Ltd or ILM mixed up between CGI and original bluescreen shots in 1997 Special Edition or 2004 DVD release of the Original Trillogy.

p.s By the way, why am I answering myself?

  • 7:16 i was like WOW!!!

  • Wow, John Williams doesnt actually look that much older today than he did back when he did the first star wars.

  • one of those rare films where every collaborator does their job perfectly making a solid idea for a film, grand and genius.

  • I miss the days before CGI.

  • After watching this I cannot believe it has become as successful as it is today

  • they wanted the voice of brain to be darth vader 0_0 but then i mean james earl jones, orsen wells or morgan freeman or sean conry all could easily be the voice of god lol

  • burt is a genious!

  • Vader's breathing is epic.

  • Thank the Force for John Williams!

The music is as integral to Star Wars as all the characters and special effects.

  • Vader would've been shit without James

  • best star wars ever !!!!

  • I really respect george even though the SW prequels were shit

  • LOOOOMAOROFL GNR! AT THE DARTH VADER VOICE BEFORE JAMES EARL JONES TOOK OVER FOR HIS VOICE.

  • they were very mean to prowse

  • How is it possible that the plastic models and puppets they used back in '77 actually look better than the crappy CGI effects used today?

  • Thank God for John Williams !

  • I think he is talking about Mel Blanc, he was known as "the man with 1,000 voices"

For you youngins here, Mel did bugs bunny and daffy duck to name a VERY few. He also did the voice of the dad in the movie "Strange Brew". For those of you who are old enough to recall that.

  • 7:44 Who is Anthony Daniels imitating?

  • Anthony Daniels aged very well...

I wonder if its because he's gay. lol

  • @kzundiverus He was not gay man his chacter C-3PO was gay

  • i was always skeptical about vader on episode III, so now i ask the following question - did jones also made the voice-over of darth vader in episode III?

  • yes, yes he did. hayden was in the suit also during the NOOOO!!!! scene.

the script says vaders tries to lunge at palpatine to kill him as he cries NOOO aswell, i dont notice said lunge though.

  • Yes, only his voice was uncredited.

  • @ramonesaudibert yes he did

  • Fans can eat my balls. Star Wars succeeded that's all that matters. Do you really think George gives a damn whether his true fans like or don't like sequels?? Star Wars is one of the most successful franchises of all time anyway. So stop eating pizza and realize how hard is to make as EPIC as this.

  • The fans give him the movie, don't be an idiot.

It's like Sarah Palin not caring about the GOP. You need those votes, honey.

  • I want to be a filmmaker when i get out of college. If all else fails, it'd be awesome to be a sound designer, especially for a science fiction movie. Ben Burtt sounds likes he has a blast when he works

  • What amuses me the most about this clip is that David Prowse sounds curiously like Rick Moranis (as Dark Helmet) underneath that mask!

  • My thoughts exactly hahaha

  • @LadyVader33 Well probably thats why Mel Brooks choose Rick Moranis as the actor for Dark Helmet.

  • You know whats funny?

That those toys they used look way more real than CGI effects.

  • @EuthanizeReligion

    NO SHIT

  • @EuthanizeReligion some CGI can be done just right. but most of it you can tell.

  • @EuthanizeReligion I agree. I wish Lucas hadn't done CGI effects in the prequels, that really ruined them for me.

  • @EuthanizeReligion That's because, as apposed to CGI, they are real!

  • @EuthanizeReligion Although I totally agree with you in the sense of current CGI, I must dissagree with you as CGI is getting more accurate and accurate by the year. CGI will look realistic at some point in time, the question is when, and will you care.

  • @conman2317 Listen, with models and effects like Star Wars people have jobs. So there. Toys are good. CGI use for Video Games.

  • @Masterlink981 The argument is better for jobs is of the point, films are art and you should do what ias te best for the films not econmy, plus thiousads of peoplw work on that CGI that is incredibily hard to make!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @reviewreviewer1 Dude, people work hard to make "toys" as opposed to CGI. This movie was made with no CGI. Impressive, isn't it? He only used CGI in 1997 to get stuff that wasn't in the original because of the budget.

  • @Masterlink981 Well actually people do work hard on CGI cause it means they have to create everything from the basic image themselves often one shot takes multiple hoyurs to make ande the CGI for an entire filn takes months too make. A movie with no CGI isn`t as impressive as one with only CGI cause in one with only CGI everything is created in the mind.

  • @conman2317 Well wjhat about some of the curret CGI likw most of the ILM wirk, I mean in the prequels it was just perfect fr the most part, or T2 and Back to the future!!!!!!!!!

  • @reviewreviewer1 T2 and Jurassic Park had fantastic CGI, but it was also barely ever used and done at time CGI became the biggest crutch ever. The prequels did fucking horrible job with CGI, its a movie not a video game. Its so unbelievably easy to see that 99% of the backgrounds were CGI and it looks so fake and bad and ruins any chance of emersion that the original films pulled off so brilliantly

  • @conman2317 Real things STILL look 100 times better than CGI today, the best directors understand that and use CGI sparingly, like Christopher Nolan, or Spike Jonze's Where the Wild Things Are

  • @zzyzx0788 you didn't understand me but whatever

  • @EuthanizeReligion Your right, conman2317 doesn't know that these toys look more real.

  • @EuthanizeReligion glad to know that I was not the only one thinking this; Avatar looked like a cartoon!

  • @EuthanizeReligion im sorry i usually ignore dumbass comments on you tube. but i could not let yours go. Why is it funny that something that IS real looks more real than something thats NOT. And the props they used in the movies were not toys. they were highly crafted models. works of art. not toys.

  • tht´s what i keep saying all the time - long live the models

  • @EuthanizeReligion That's because the toys WERE Real LOL

  • LOVE JAMES EARL JONES!

  • lol he said "George wanted a darker voice, NOT in terms of Ethnicity"

    lol

  • HAHAHAHAHA! i was just about to comment on the "darker voice" statement until i saw your comment - hahaha, fucking hilarious!

  • basically the reason why the new SW movies are bad is fear of that mess Lucas has gone trough

  • they are not a mess.. they are just not the same. That's why the old fans don't like the new films. Like fans of anything else, they think it all has to be exactly the same

  • i always wanted a real lightsaber when i was young and i thought by 2009 we would have them by now fuck global warming and carbon footprint crap all the best scientists should be concentrating on is making light sabers.

  • well if you we would ignore global warming you might die as soon as you got your bloody lightsaber!!!!

BUT I agree with you they should build lightsabers.

  • I think it would be much better and more fair and more entertaining if wars were fought with lightsabers and lazer guns.

  • i know right

  • ya seriously, screw global warming and cancer research, GIVE ME MY LIGHT SABER!!!!

  • Ben Burtt is a sound design GOD!

    Long live the Wilhelm Scream!

  • 1:39 - Glad to hear we're not the only ones resenting the CG-only stance movies are taking now in favor over blowing shit up and slicing that footage in.

  • I can't stand cg effects! They have no feel! You can always tell an organic effect and it makes the movie so much more charming and amazing.

  • ope! 0:41 75 GMC Sierra, lol,, this shits awesome by the way...

  • I had no idea James Earl Jones was a stutterer. Anyway, he was a better pick for the voice than Prowse. From the original fotage, Prowse could barely act.

  • hahaha that bit where they talk about Vader's Accent, Bill Bailey does a joke on one of his stand up dvds about it :P James earl jones, best voice ever :)

  • i think lucas modeled the character of the emperor on the evil executive heads that made his life a nightmare during production

  • thank god for james earl jones

  • @chriskoob Yup

  • Anthony Daniels sounds synthesised even in his interview :P

  • I freaked out the first time I saw this, because I remembered that as a kid I walked up to a guy wire and smacked it with a stout stick, and it sounded just like a blaster shot from ANH! I wish I could go back to the late 70's( I was seven when ANH came out )and take a couple of those Force FX lightsabers with me; there would be NO rest for anyone! The first sabers were basically flashlights with a blow-up blade, ala an air mattress. Sadness...
