were full scale traction eng. run on distilled water too? Must have been hard to transport all the fuel and water in the old times!? Does it consume a lot of steam for draught?
how long does this take to get into steam from cold and like how long does the water last in the tank and how do you put the water in the boiler is it with a injector or pump and would this be ideal for pulling small things along using the drum winch
Allow five to ten minutes for getting pressure up,the water tank will hold enough water for twenty minutes or so running. There is a hand pump (separate bottle) and a crankshaft pump (tank feed).
The winding drum can be fitted with a cable, just be carefull not to overload the drum as it has a single mount on the bottom of the boiler.
It will pull one adult on a smooth flat surface. The riding car needs to be on ball race bearings and it is advisable to put rubber strip tyres on the wheels.
How controlllable are they? In the videos they always seem to be running like the clappers! Can you get a slow rotation of the mechanism and flywheel?
The regulator on this prototype has been re designed on the production models to give you a much more control on the power, once they are run in you can get it to rotate slowly.
Hey your in the Maxitrak company right. Well can you tell your boss or whoever sets-up the new businesses to put one in the U.S. so i don't have to go to Britain to buy one please.
We are starting with charcoal soaked in lighting fluid and then running on anthracite. We sell the correct size fuel in 20KG bags for running this engine.

Axbent 1 year ago
@Axbent no they run on any water, rain, tap, river you name it!
maxitrak 1 year ago
@maxitrak I just read that distilled water can harm the boiler, since its deionized; causes dezinkification of the brass?!
Axbent 1 year ago
@Axbent yes apparently that is true, you should use rain or tap water!

Sweet, 1" scale plowing matches sooner or later, so long as you make a plow for it.
