i haven't seen this hit in so long, it still makes me angry. why the fuck would you hit someone from behind when they were going to the bench, way after they got rid of the puck. i would've like to seen what gaustad or mair would have done to ovechkin if he didnt hide behind his big players and the referees.

Even as a Sabres fan, I don't have much love for Briere and his tendency to dive, but OV hit him square in the numbers when he was a couple of feet from the boards. That's not just a boarding penalty, it's a very dangerous hit. There's no way that Briere could have taken a dive on that one, he couldn't see it coming. I doubt OV meant the hit to go that way, but it wasn't a clean or legal hit.

Horribly dirty hit. Ovechkin even knew it as soon as it happened, the look on his face says everything. Briere was obviously coming off the ice, the door to the bench was open. He was not in the play anymore
