'Africa,' collectively, was not a civilization. The Pyramids were built by Egyptians. Sub-Saharans had different cultures and societies, as diverse as those of Europe. We tend in America today to lump all of these together as Sub-Saharan, 'black' African culture when, in fact, they were distinct and vibrant in their diversity of language, custom and societal expression.

I don't know why this post received negative reviews. Thank you, no doubt. As a fairly young dude it just frustrates me to see our people impressed by material items and having street cred. Malcolm did the street thing, wisened up, and elevated from there. Had he "stayed in the hood all day" there would've been no Malcolm X.
