  • this paper is amayzing

  • 0:57 uuuuuuuuuuh XD

  • Why does it have tears on the edges?

  • @kentellis It's hand-made paper, that's the deckle edge - not a torn edge. When you buy paper, the deckle edge will usually be cut off already, in this case they aren't - which I think is really nice.

  • @AdamsSara hi, i come fom another country so its hard to get paper please help

  • @AdamsSara i tried to buy it ones but it didnt work

  • :( i want the tissue foil but I live in the Philippines plus I`m 10 and I'm still young to ask dollars from my mother.

  • @cyrusrom Can you explain to me why not?

  • @factiz501 Why not What?(not offending)

  • ONE HUNDRED AND SEVENTY DOLLARS?!?

  • Jeez! I couldnt have waited to open that. I would have opened it the minute I got it. I love origami

  • frien i am trying to understand better folding paper only for books, my works in origamis is very easy for video, i can make any work only watching video, for that i would like to know if you can make totorial in video only for peaple can understand origamis books better¿ you dont have to show or maked som work of satoshi kamilla, just teach waht tha mean this ------- or this --.--.--.--.--. or the zig zag , just step buy step, for that people want video because dont understand books.

  • @alfman3 In some of my more recent videos I show the step in diagrams in the top left corner. Perhaps that can get you started.

  • @AdamsSara use a big paper for the scaled koi. or use origamido paper for robert lang's origami scorpion varileg

  • and i decided to buy a gold and copper tissue foil

  • hi sara, can you help me and explain to me what that mean some instruction say wet fold o some time say; dry fold. my cuestion is if the king of paper is wet or dry fold¿ I think wet fold, mean tissue paper - and dry fold mean arigami paper or tant paper. please just explain to me.

  • @alfman3 Wet folding means you dampen the paper before folding. The paper fibers are then soaked and bend, rather than break when you fold the paper. This allows you to work differently and achieve other effects. Wet folding doesn't work with all papers. actually, tissue paper is probably not very suitable for wet folding, and Tant should work quite well with wet folding. So you got it a bit wrong. ;)

  • @AdamsSara jajajajaja yes you have reason, i got it big problem, i nknow now when roman diaz say wet fold - that mean i have to wet the paper, but i dont know how¿i put the all paper in the water¿

  • @alfman3 You should only slightly dampen the paper. For example, wet a cloth and wring it out. Then move the slightly wet cloth over the paper. On the front, on the back, then start folding. One thing to realize is that you want to finish you fold by the time the model is almost dry again. This does mean you may have to work faster than usual.

  • thank you very much for your video and for you advice, i am living in florida, I will oeder a lot tant paper and tissue paper and tissue foil paper, and cuestion for you please, where can I buy the glue spray for tissue paper and foil? i am excited too. tomorro i will buy, i love make origamis, i got the book works of satoshi kamiya but i dont like it because the instrutions is really bad, the works is amaizing but i can understand hin book

  • @alfman3 Check your local craft store for glue. By the way, I think using spray glue doesn't result in as nice origami paper as when you roll on thinned down white glue. I know others disagree with that, though. ;) Satoshi Kamiya has highly complex designs, and they are indeed very hard to fold, so don't be discouraged by that.

  • I just got some origamido paper recently and I was wondering if you've folded any models with yours. I've folded an ancient dragon and it looks superb.

    Thanks-

    DragonOrigami

  • @DragonOrigami I haven't fold the time to fold anything from the origamido yet. I'll want to spend considerable time prepping before I fold something nice from the origamido.

  • 12:05 Yugoslavia :)

  • hello, I just got the discovery pack from origami-shop. i was wondering if you could tell me if i can wet fold with the tant paper without having to resize it. thanks!

  • @syko66613 Tant probably isn't the best paper to wet-fold with. It will work, but I believe the paper stays too soft, even when dried completely. I'm not sure what you mean by resize: cut to a square again, or add glue? I believe Tant doesn't expand too much/irregularly, so you shouldn't have to cut it, although it wouldn't hurt either. As to adding glue, that might help get the paper to be crisp in the dried state, rather than soft. I haven't tried.

  • Did the package cone in the mailbox or did it arrive at your door? :)

  • @BlueYoshi250 My mailbox isn't big enough for that big a package. :) I'm not sure whether I was at home, the neighbor took it, or whether I had to pick it up at the post office. But does it really matter? ;)

  • i wonder if they could send some things to Iraq? I really hope so

  • @VesterCrowley9 origami-shop delivers worldwide. This should include Iraq. :)

  • Definitely the best way that I know of to get a hold of the best origami paper available! I just ordered two sheets of Origamido which I've never tried before, so exciting and great vid!!

  • 5 people with papercuts disliked this video.

  • how is tant as apaper, do u recomend it??

  • @CirciSurfMusic Yes, it's very nice both for tessellations and for folding animals that don't have a color change.

  • is origami-shop

     a us based store?

  • @TheRuizo1 It's based in France, but it ships worldwide.

  • at first i thought u were a dude becase adam first name sara last name

  • maybe you can make a origami ancient dragon from the origamido?

  • @lucabluewaterfall Ah, probably not. I'm not that taken with dragons. The ancient dragon was a good challenge for me, but it's not my most loved model, I have to admit.

  • that paper is big!

  • how much is 170 euros

  • @omarvela100 Well, pretty much exactly 170 euros. If you want to know what that is in your currency type "170 euros in (your currency)" into Google, and get an answer there. E.g. for US dollars, type "170 euros in us dollars". Today that's about 236 dollars.

  • can you order this paper from the U.S?

  • @IHeArTrOcK20 You can get it delivered to the US. There may be US shops that sell this paper, but I don't know them.

  • Nice video :) I also ordered from Origami Shop (books) and I'm happy with their service. I usually don't use the kind of paper you bought, but it's nice to see it on video.

  • Thanks for informing me about this site. I think I'm going to buy origami essence, tant and tissue foil.

  • Quite a weird hobby, but seeing/hearing you so exited just makes me smile..! :)

It's good people have a passion/hobby, no matter what :)

  • ooooooooooooohhhhhh nice squeek

  • god I wish i loved paper that much.

  • It's allways fun to see you happy. Watching you do what you love to do makes me happy^^

  • 170 euros WOW

  • @swaging554 At the beginning of the video I mention that it cost me about 170 Euros.

  • Which would you say is thinner from all the paper besides the origamido?

  • Just so you know hawaii is pronounced ha-why- eeee ( no offence)

  • Advanced Eagle? Would it happen to be Nguyen Hung Cuong's Eagle? If so, '06 or '0y model?

  • @origamiguy91 Yes indeed. :) The diagrams say they're from 2008, so I don't think it's the 2006 version. :)

  • @AdamsSara =O

Diagrams?! Would they happen to be Andrey Ermakov's messed up diagrams? I haven't seen any diagrams for it anywhere... only CP's... :(

  • @origamiguy91 Diagrams are in the book "License to Fold", which is available in origami-shop

  • @AdamsSara =O

I'm going to buy it now. :3

  • They are good papers, I'm looking forward to your next origami with one of these papers ^^

But, what is really the Origamido composition ? ; is it hard to fold it or an "easy reeper paper ^^" or anything else ?

  • @Virusrag It is very thin, takes creases very well, and is simply beautiful. It is perfect for showing off the beauty of paper, or for folding super-complex models.

  • @AdamsSara what is the diff between origami and origamido

  • @howtoguy17 Origami is the art of paperfolding. Origamido is superb origami paper produced by Michael LaFosse and Richard Alexander. Or rather, origamido is their brand, and "origamido paper" is often just called origamido.

  • @AdamsSara thanks please check my channel please i do origami too but not as much as you make your a true master

  • why isnt the paper square?

  • @pr0ph33r You mean the Origamido? Ah, you have to cut in any case to get rid of the deckle edges, and getting the whole sheet lets you decide on the size, rather than the producer. And I think I know better what I want. ;)

  • adam sara do they deliver in the philipines and is the shipping free and how much that it cots and ho long that its take to get to you

  • @tecken5 Yes, they ship to the Phillipines. Shipping costs are not included and depend on the weight of your order. I am not sure how long delivery to the Phillipines will take, it also depends which delivery method you pick. If you are impatient you can probably choose the express delivery (which is more expensive, of course).

  • I got my origamido paper just three days ago (dragon red), and am trying to decide what model to fold. Maybe Kamiya's Hermit crab. Or his divine dragon? So hard to choose with paper as exclusive as this! :D

  • could you post a tutorial then?

  • @godfreak100 I'll think about it. I also haven't been in touch with Brian Chan re permission yet, either.

  • could you post a tutorial for the rose by brian chan? if not, where are the diagrams?

  • @godfreak100 Diagrams can be found in Tanteidan 12, but I fear it's out of print.

  • Haha, I'd be excited too

  • You have a very sexy voice.

  • "oh my gosh!" <- <3 you and your paper are very cute :)

  • luscious lol. I cant help myself. The satiny reflective stuff is drool-worthy. I love opening a shipment of art supplies, its so inspiring!

  • yum yum PAPER

  • 170 Euros!

    So teuer!

  • Hi, Sara: I really enjoyed to unpack all this amazing papers with you ;-) My real language is Spanish, however I understood every sentence you said, almost as if the paper were on my hands, I got a little bit excited too... In fact, I think you convinced me to try to buy some of this stuff (from Argentina, tough task!). Happy folding... =) >Gastón Giambelluca. {BTW: I'm Gastón O'rigami on flickr, may be you already know...}

  • Sara says in her head OMG OMG I FINNALLY GOT IT

  • Thanks. You kinda rock :D

  • congratulations!

  • the box seems to radiate an amazing aurora of origaminess

    :)

  • I ordered some a few months ago and remember how exited I was too :0)

Michael was pleasant to talk to as well. He really loves his work and seemed very happy to talk about it.

  • Hi AdamsSara,

I would like to know, what do you do with all the folded origamies you create?

Do you keep all of then, like on a shelve? or do you put them away?

  • @Jessy6210 It depends on how happy I'm with the fold. If I'm happy, I'll keep it on my shelf or put it in a box. On some occasions i also give away models, but it's harder. I understand that many others do not appreciate folded paper as much as... well, us crazy origami people do. My "rejects" I recycle. I go through my folded models every now and then and decide what a "reject" is. Right after the fold I'm usually more enthusiastic than after a couple of months. ;)

  • What an amazing variety of both materials and colours and textures: the one at 09:20, for example, is... wow!

To think that I only use copy paper, all coloured and printed by myself... haha, shame on me!

    ^_^;;

Oh, well, don't know if I'll ever buy it... but, anyway, thank you for this video: very informative and interesting!

    ^_^

  • awesome haul.....what do you recommend for good practicing paper?

  • i almost freeaked out, thank goodness it was only paper

  • @StumpGrinder12 As Nicolas Terry noted, tant seems to be the best paper for tessellations. I haven't folded with it yet, but will have to give that a try.

  • How do you cut squares for models needing larger paper?

  • @elboberto7 Define large. :) I've got templates for different sizes. My largest one is a 48cm square. I use the templates to add marks to the paper, then cut with a ruler. For the 96cm square (scaled koi) I also used the 48cm template. I often combine two sizes of templates to get in-between sizes, actually.

  • Someone went on a shopping spree :3 - love how enthusiastic you are about these papers =D

  • @Adoriakashite Well, I don't spend that much money on origami paper all too often. ;) And it really is awesome stuff.

  • @AdamsSara Well, with your folding skills it sure is worth buying it. You're really very talented and committed - I admire that! =D Do you also create your own models?

  • I assume it is sprayed.

Many people when I show them a finished model say I spray painted it xD

Tant... Oh it's pretty alright. I tried some, it's okay. But without some damping, I think, gets too thick too quick. That stuff is just amazing.

I hate the fur paper D: I'll have to try wet folding it though... Satoshis Kilin looks amazing in it :D

You'll have to tell us about the oigamido. I haven't seen it and it looks nice.

The natural stuff is too thin for me >< fugu... No.

  • @HomoCyborgZombie Oh no, it was the textured paper I got. Either way, it was too thin, and didn't hold the best.

  • Those sheets are great, Sara! I love the blue origamido paper and I can't wait to see what you eventually fold with the 'natural tissue'. You seemed SO excited in that video but I would have been too if I had waited five days to open a package I had been waiting for. I hope you have fun folding all of that paper, Sara.

  • oh how I wish, I could spend that much money on paper

  • What can you tell us about the tant paper? Do you have any examples of models folded from it?

  • Wow, i didn't know good origami paper is so pricey!! But i guess quolity has it's price!! I just practice folding with simple A4 offece paper sheets!! And it's so bad, sometimes it tears, cause it gets weak at corners and stuff... gggrrrrrr. But this paper you showed us seems amazing. Especially the goldy one, i know you will make something beautiful out of it!! :^D

  • I think the violet paper would be perfect for an orchid.

  • Origamido is great looking paper but simply too expensive. You can't practice with it unless you're rich and even a serious attempt at a model can go wrong so that's $10 down the tube. Well made tissue foil is probably just as good and costs next to nothing. I must say though that Terry's online shop is really good; the service is always first class.

  • @GJ0KYZ Actually, Michael wrote that if you re-wet the paper and iron it out you can re-use it without significant degradation. Don't try that with other paper, though. ;)

  • Sweet! what thickness is the papers?

  • @pappaskalman

Origamido: super-thin, my guess is 25gsm, but I have no real idea

    Tissue-foil: 40gsm, quite thin, too

Tant: 78gsm, thickish, quite stiff - probably amazing for boxes and possibly wet-folding

  • @AdamsSara

I see. Btw the "last waltz" origami is neat (perfect as gifts) . thumbs up for the tutorial and keep up the good work!

  • Aww Sara... is it possible for paper to be mouthwatering?? I wish we get to touch the paper through video, because they look so lovely. Thank you for sharing the unboxing of your paper :)

  • @StumpGrinder12 I'd probably go with the natural tissue paper for tessellations.

  • The best paper for Tesselation is probably Tant Paper.

Check for example the Work of my friend Lydiard here :

    flickr . com / photos/lydiard/

All made using large sheet of Tant Paper

Anyway, thanks for your nice words, and above all, thanks to Sara for the kind review.

  • Where do you get your diagrams from? I'd love to fold more of the type of origami that you put on youtube.

  • @yearoftheniceguy You can check the books I own on happyfolding(dot)com/books

  • lol, i know ur lieing! ur like " ohhh beautifull" all lies

  • @102gab You're just jealous, admit it! :)

  • @AdamsSara he definitely is jealous. He can't even spell "lying" correctly.

  • @BABBYlonian lol i tipe to fast. Gosh

  • @AdamsSara maiby a little. But i do sound like ur lieng. U sound like a little happy girl in a good way :]

  • I have a friend in South Korea that used to live here who sends me origami paper from there because it's so cheap there! I love all the colours :D

  • really nice paper ...
