  • I had never seen this performance, which I think it's the only one of hers I missed.

It is so funny how she went for the triple salchow at the end but then changed her mind (she was always gutsy and going again for triples she had missed earlier).

Her triple loop is the highest she's ever hit, afaik.

I never understood why the triple flip came in so late, so that she would always underrotate it. When she was doing at the beginning of the program, it was good (e.g. her 1993 Europeans SP).

  • One question, is she inspired by Katarina Witt and do they know each other?

  • I think this was clearly enough for top 3, no matter how far behind she was in SP. I had her 2nd in the FS.

  • great Marina !

  • I always enjoyed Marina's skating, ever since her SP at the 1994 Worlds probably. She started off strong here then ran into problems.. but nonetheless, I've seen her do worse actually. Marina actually competed once as a professional, at the 1997 Ladies Pro Series. She didn't qualify for the final, but her second program was really different for her actually - a medley of "Love Song For A Vampire" by Annie Lennox, and various music from Dracula and Interview With The Vampire.

  • Is her roller skating background to blame for her horrid music (except for maybe the last cut which sounded like calypso)!? Also best loop sequence ver. I wish every skater did at least one cool combo like that!

  • LOL... no, the responsible for her choice is her passion for Italy. Those are all italian songs. The title of the song of her last section is "Marina" ;-)

  • The first song seems to be "A Lover's Concerto" (a modern remake of Minuet in G Major, attributed to Bach).

  • Let me correct you, Marina once was a silver champion on roller skate championships, in ice skating is more powerful and fast than the other girls, if you prectice artistic roller skating you woul'd realize that is easier go on blades. The jumps are also more complicated to execute. !Marina you are great!!!

  • actually she was generally starting that combination with a double axel which made it much more difficult.
