This performance was actually a benefit show for Axis of Justice, and the artists would join each other after after their main sets for impromptu jams. That's why it sounds a little sloppy. It was more a matter of "who wants to jump up now, and what song are we going to do?" This was an amazing show. I was there, and I'll never forget it.

I'm less likely to believe that Tom motherfucking Morello doesn't know how to play any given song than I am to believe that Ben Harper is an insufferable prima donna that doesn't like changeups and creative guitarists. Anything to believe Tom wouldn't play like this if he had any choice about it.

@04mader in reggae the guitar is seen as more of a percussive instrument, it can really help guitarists to learn more about rhythm by playing a bit of reggae

@monkeyboy6676 its not seen as more of a percussive instrument, most reggae guitarists play an electric guitar (which has no percussive abilities at all) but it is very rhythmically centered... but that still doesn't answer the fact that only one chord is being played throughout the entire song which lays the melodic responsibilities directly on the singer. he could of at least played different variations of the Bm as bob did, giving it some sort of tonal change...
