Wow, lots of negative comments on this video. I read the first couple of pages and didn't see a single one that actually addressed the topic discussed in this video. It's mostly just a bunch of vague accusations and generalities... a lot like listening to most politicians speak.
Brian Mclaren is a communist pretending to be a Christian and perverts the Kingdom of God making it into economic and political system, communism. Hence Mclarens new christianity helped to lead astray many. Jesus said, "My kingdom is not of this world”, Christ came to save sinners from the wrath of God. He is the substitute for those who believe in Him and those who do not believe in Him will receive the wrath of God. Repentance towards God and belief in Jesus saves until the judgment day.
he's a nice enough guy but that's so besides the point. I read his book naked spirituality and it made no sense...it was almost the opposite of reading the bible...even the bible verses in the book were so drawn out in a confusing way and it was almost reading philosophy...I've heard about him but I still wanted to look into it his teachings myself...

The Bible nowhere says homosexuals will not enter the Kingdom of Heaven. I'm aware of the incorrect translation of the Greek in I Cor.6:9 and I Tim. 1:10. The word some translations render as "homosexual" is not the word used for homosexuality. Jesus spoke in parables so the blind would not see and the deaf would not hear. I'm very surprised by the resistance against Brian McLaren and his messages. I would be careful when calling someone a "wolf in sheep's clothing"...those are very powerful accusations! While I may not agree with everything McLaren teaches, I find his approaches compelling in their appeal to the state of society. What happened to the passage of scripture where Jesus says, "I am the way, I AM THE TRUTH, and I am the life." He also said That He "was the door to the sheepfold" and "if you came in any other way you are a thief and a robber"... In the same narrative he also said "ALL who came BEFORE ME are thieves and robbers"...Jesus excluded all other religions and philosophies to proclaim his exclusivity. There is one thing that is clearly evident from Brian McClaren, he has not developed his theology from Scripture. He missed Genesis. We are KICKED OUT of the Garden. God provided a way, through the PERFECT SACRIFICIAL BLOOD of His SON , to return to Him.
The Kingdom is a way of life, but the core message of Jesus' teaching on the Kingdom is the premise that because of sin our world is out of sync with God and the universe, and that we need to be forgiven & reconciled with God. This is why Jesus said "repent, for the Kingdom of God is at hand." There is a big difference between a heresy and a theological difference in opinion. I may not agree with everything Brian says, but that doesn't make him a "heretic". Read my examples of heresy- they go against the core values of every Christian denomination from the Catholics to the Baptists. You can't disagree with someone's opinion and label them a heretic. Read the Nicene Creed of 381- anyone who believes that is a brother and should be respected.

I don't think Brian was denying the fundamentals of Jesus' message that we all adhere to. He's emphasizing the complexity and mystery in some of Jesus' sayings. No mention of sin, repentance or judgment. Jesus came to seek and save the lost. He came to live a perfect life, die a substitutionary death and rise again for our justification. The Bible nowhere says homosexuals will not enter the Kingdom of Heaven. I'm aware of the incorrect translation of the Greek in I Cor.6:9 and I Tim. 1:10. The word some translations render as "homosexual" is not the word used for homosexuality. I'm aware of Rom. 1:26-27, which is not an anti-gay text, but an anti-idolatry text, for which there is good support. As for the Mosaic Code, again, not anti-gay, but against male cult prostitution, again with good support. Gen. 19 is about rape.

I'm very surprised by the resistance against Brian McLaren and his messages. I would be careful when calling someone a "wolf in sheep's clothing"...those are very powerful accusations! While I may not agree with everything McLaren teaches, I find his approaches compelling in their appeal to the state of society. People want a world-view that they can be involved in...they want to be a part of a meta-narrative. The Kingdom of God is now and we are a part of it.

It's refreshing to hear a christian that is not arrogantly proclaiming his brand of truth as the way. As a Christian, I agree with Brian. If we honestly accept the truth that we "see through a glass dimly" doesn't that leave alot of room to be wrong? How does anyone really know if they have it right? Jesus came to abolish the law and injustice, but many christian attempt to resurrect it again with their rulebook and finger pointing.

What happened to the passage of scripture where Jesus says, "I am the way, I AM THE TRUTH, and I am the life." He also said That He "was the door to the sheepfold" and "if you came in any other way you are a thief and a robber"... In the same narrative he also said "ALL who came BEFORE ME are thieves and robbers"...Jesus excluded all other religions and philosophies to proclaim his exclusivity. I would rather believe him than Mr. McLaren. You would be wise to do the same.

The Kingdom is a way of life, but the core message of Jesus' teaching on the Kingdom is the premise that because of sin our world is out of sync with God and the universe, and that we need to be forgiven & reconciled with God. This is why Jesus said "repent, for the Kingdom of God is at hand." As Newbigin put it, this is not simply a call for moral reformation, but to do a U-turn, to turn around and believe the gospel, to be transformed by the renewing of your mind. It's God's redemptive reign.

Arianism- denying that Jesus and the Father are One; states that Jesus was not divine but merely human.
Manichaeism- teaching that the body is irreconcilably evil; that whatever sins the body commits are free from judgment because the soul is good. Also teaches that evil and good are balanced forces; that no force of good can overcome a force of evil and vice versa.

There is a big difference between a heresy and a theological difference in opinion. I may not agree with everything Brian says, but that doesn't make him a "heretic". Read my examples of heresy- they go against the core values of every Christian denomination from the Catholics to the Baptists. You can't disagree with someone's opinion and label them a heretic. To do so only makes you an elitist.
Read the Nicene Creed of 381- anyone who believes that is a brother and should be respected.

6 They are the kind who worm their way into homes and gain control over weak‑willed women, who are loaded down with sins and are swayed by all kinds of evil desires, 7 always learning but never able to acknowledge the truth. 8 Just as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so also these men oppose the truth--men of depraved minds, who, as far as the faith is concerned, are rejected. 9 But they will not get very far because, as in the case of those men, their folly will be clear to everyone.
