  • Landsdown;Whom the beep ,are you addressing this message to?

  • Wow, lots of negative comments on this video. I read the first couple of pages and didn't see a single one that actually addressed the topic discussed in this video. It's mostly just a bunch of vague accusations and generalities... a lot like listening to most politicians speak.

  • Brian Mclaren is a communist pretending to be a Christian and perverts the Kingdom of God making it into economic and political system, communism. Hence Mclarens new christianity helped to lead astray many. Jesus said, "My kingdom is not of this world”, Christ came to save sinners from the wrath of God. He is the substitute for those who believe in Him and those who do not believe in Him will receive the wrath of God. Repentance towards God and belief in Jesus saves until the judgment day.

  • Well said, thank you for standing up for your beliefs...

    whatthehellbook . com

  • he's a nice enough guy but that's so besides the point. I read his book naked spirituality and it made no sense...it was almost the opposite of reading the bible...even the bible verses in the book were so drawn out in a confusing way and it was almost reading philosophy...I've heard about him but I still wanted to look into it his teachings myself...

  • By the way! How much money you make Mr. Brian McClaren on the s.h.i.t you make?

  • July 4, 2011, Brian McClaren is too intellectual. McLaren.

  • July 4, 2011, Brian McClaren is too intellectual.

  • This guy would make a good Multilevel Marketing Salesman. lol

He is no follower of the Biblical Jesus Christ though.

  • People need to read the entire bible God, yes homosexuality is wrong yes all sexual sin is wrong and yes if you are not forgiven of your sins you will go to hell Jesus died for your sins that you may put them to death if your are living in sin with no real conviction and true repentance if you passion and love is not for God but for what God can do for you or even other created things than your r not of God, God hates you and will crush you. You r in the path of his wrath the only way out is to

  • The Bible nowhere says homosexuals will not enter the Kingdom of Heaven. I'm aware of the incorrect translation of the Greek in I Cor.6:9 and I Tim. 1:10. The word some translations render as "homosexual" is not the word used for homosexuality. I'm aware of Rom. 1:26-27, which is not an anti-gay text, but an anti-idolatry text, for which there is good support. As for the Mosaic Code, again, not anti-gay, but against male cult prostitution, again with good support. Gen. 19 is about rape.

  • Jesus spoke in parables so the blind would not see and the deaf would not hear. The gospel is foolishness to those that are perishing but it is the power of God for the salvation of those who will believe. It is not ours to interpret scripture for mankind like the priests of Luthers time, the gospel is simple enough for a child and the Holy Spirit will guide us into all truth. expose the carnal teachers of fleshly wisdom, they are not of God.

  • Nothing but a Heretic using fancy words to suck in the uninformed and naive. Read the Bible and learn the truth. This man is not speaking truth.

  • False prophets these days, always thinking they are sent from heaven to change Christianity to it's "original form".

  • Why is this heretic still breathing?

  • @FillTheirVoid Parable of the wheat and the tares. Angels ask whether they should pluck out the tares. The master tells them to wait and let them grow side by side so the wheat doesn't get uprooted too. At harvest time the seperation will be made.

  • @FillTheirVoid Are you asking God or other violent radicals?

  • @sfeltmate

Radical? No, just honest. This man makes the devil look honest.

    The question is rhetorical.

  • @FillTheirVoid Wishing someone dead is not rhetorical; it is violent. And this type of violent thinking - this hyper-aggressive, over-the-top response to dissent - is the exact opposite of what Jesus taught.

We are not here to defend an empire - we are here to serve, to lead and to be a light (not a flame thrower) to the world.

  • @sfeltmate

Actually we are here to fight, for Christ and His Gospel which was once delivered to the saints. Though of course our weapons are not carnal.

If you can listen to this disgusting heretic blaspheme the Gospel of Christ and yet feel completely apathetic ... well ...

  • @FillTheirVoid We are here to attract disciples not enforce conversions at the point of a sword. I was under the (perhaps mistaken?) impression that the Church had learned that lesson already.

We are not jihadists nor should we use the language of jihadists. We may not always agree with each other however we should be thankful that Jesus is being preached. At least that was Paul's approach.

  • @sfeltmate

Jesus isn't being preached ... heresy is.

I'm sick and tired of women who pretend to be men preaching humanity worship and calling it "the Gospel"

  • @FillTheirVoid Thank God for modern prophets like Brian McLaren! He has a handle on how the Gospel of Jesus Christ is fleshed out today!

  • @landsdown44

Truth and the Gospel are both immutable ...

  • @FillTheirVoid You are making up what the Bible was saying in the 1st Century. McLaren is biblically accurate.

  • @landsdown44

Making up? The scripture clearly states that the faith was once delivered unto the saints ... that same faith persists today ... immutably. Mclaren is a secular humanist ... he knows nothing about biblical theology.

Indeed, the 1st century faith will be the faith of the 1,000,000th century.

  • @FillTheirVoid Obviously you know nothing about McLaren, or you are willing to simply lie about him, which would be a worse shame. Clearly, if you have read or listened to McLaren speak, you would have to admit he loves God with all his heart. Further, his awareness of theology is spectacular. I have heard him several times and read three of his books. McLaren is a 21st Cent. prophet, calling God's church to discipleship and faithfulness in the midst of an empire that cares little for the truth.

  • @landsdown44

I know what the falsehood and ignorance which he continually asserts. I doubt mclaren loves the God of the bible. The God who said: but those Mine enemies, who would not that I should rule over them, bring hither ... slay them in My presence.

There are no "21st century prophets" We hold to the faith which was once delivered.

Galatians 1:8 Though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.

  • @FillTheirVoid I suggest you take Galatians 1:8 to heart because it probably applies to you. It certainly does not apply to McLaren. And there will always be prophets. Funny how people who need to hear the prophetic voice are the ones who claim there aren't any.

  • @landsdown44

I'm not the one who is declaring that the Gospel changes in order to suit different cultures. Mclaren even denies the propitiatory sacrifice of Christ, does he not? This is blasphemous heresy ...

You need to return to the bible and believe in the LORD, or you and your false prophet will be thrust into hell.

  • @FillTheirVoid I've got a news flash for you. Brian McLaren is NOT declaring that the Gospel changes in order to suit different cultures. McLaren does NOT deny the atonement sacrifice of Christ. Here you are defaming a couragous pastor and you don't even have a clue what he does and does not believe. That's just sad.

  • @landsdown44

Does he not declare a new christianity, and a different gospel? I defame despicable unbelievers who pervert the Gospel of Christ, not courageous pastors who defend the Gospel of Christ from such as himself.

  • @FillTheirVoid In no way does McLaren distort the message of Jesus. You have no idea what McLaren has said or written. You have taken your cue from a few modern day pharisees who are defending a theology that has taken the power out of the Gospel of Jesus. Before you continue making more ignorant judgments, you would do well to know something about the subject. To demonstrate that you are knowledgable, quote the places in McLaren's works that trouble you. If you can't do that, shut up.

  • @landsdown44

    watch?v=8SOUfsX2fbk

  • @FillTheirVoid If you really think that video does anything to support your view against McLaren, you are so badly mistaken. McLaren is assisting Christians to be more consistent with the teachings and actions of Jesus, nothing more. What opposes Scripture there? That would be nothing. All the texts about hell are image language. Hell is hot, it is fire, it is cold, outer darkness. The only accurate description of hell is that God will never join you there.

  • @landsdown44

lol ... no ... this is absolute demonic heresy. He is literally boasting that he is better than God in the matter of forgiveness. He is rejecting the notion of both hell and the propitiatory sacrifice of Christ.

    This man is a satanist.

  • @FillTheirVoid If I were you, I would be very careful before I'd go throwing around the word "demonic". BTW, he is not rejecting the notion of hell, just your distorted, unbiblical view of it. You should know that C.S. Lewis also held the same view. Gee, better buy up all those copies of Mere Christianity and Chronicles of Narnia and burn them.

  • @landsdown44

A man declaring that the propitiatory sacrifice of Christ equates to kicking a dog is unquestionably demonic. What view? That hell is a place of God's punishment?

  • @landsdown44

A man declaring that the propitiatory sacrifice of Christ equates to kicking a dog is unquestionably demonic. What view? That hell is a place of God's punishment?

  • @FillTheirVoid If that is what you got from McLaren's statement then one of two things are present. Either you just aren't capable of a significant discussion on the atonement, or you are blindly following modern day pharisees who are not interested in reclaiming the Gospel and real discipleship.

  • @landsdown44

Are you joking? You actually believe that comparing the sacrifice of Christ to God kicking a dog is a significant discussion? You need psychological counseling.

  • @FillTheirVoid You pretty much made that accusation up. I saw the video. Clearly that is not what McLaren said. That's just your twisted version. You either have difficulty with the truth or maybe you could use a therapist.

  • @landsdown44

    Are you deaf?

  • @FillTheirVoid you only hear what you want to hear. Your mind is so closed, I'm afraid God might even have difficulty getting in. I have read 3 McLaren books, heard him lecture a half dozen times. I'm guessing you have read nothing of his. You badly need a reality check.

  • @landsdown44

God has no difficulties doing anything, and I don't care what heresy's you've read. This man is a blaspheming heretic.

  • @FillTheirVoid Let's paraphrase what you just wrote: "I don't care what the facts are. I don't care if McLaren is completely misinterpreted, I'm sticking to my guns even though they are blasted empty." You know, for a Christian, you ought to have more integrity than that.

  • @landsdown44

I've heard everything which I need to from this man and his despicable blasphemies. I'm not interested in hearing "the facts" about a man who compares the sacrifice of Christ to God kicking a dog. Then goes on to tell us all how he has a greater degree of forgiveness than God. Then goes on to state that we are to be a different kind of Christian. Then goes on to state that he is willing to be joined with unbelievers and false teachers, having no integrity.

    You defend this maniac?

  • @FillTheirVoid Yup, you got all you need which is nothing but wild accusations based on lies. You just continue to make up what McLaren said. You don't give a damn about the truth. and that is a horrible shame. In your self righteous way, you do nothing but hurt the precious body of Christ. the church could do without Christians like you.

  • @landsdown44 brother, any word of hate is not from God, if any says he loves God yet hates his fellow man, he is a liar and the truth is not in him. Test yourself to know that you are indeed saved, if you are the fruits of the Spirit will abide in you, goodness, kindness, gentleness, faithfulness, self control.

  • @servant714 My comments in no way indicate hatred toward anyone. I simply called a lie what it was. If the truth abides in you, please make sure you are not coming across as self righteous. Both the Apostle Paul and Jesus expressed anger and frustration. Jesus even called Herod a name.

  • @landsdown44 After looking at your channel and your comments I fear greatly for you.Someone has convinced you of lies. Did you know that no homosexual or adulterer will enter the kingdom of God? To repent of your sin means to stop sinning, to put the carnal deeds of the flesh to death. Do you understand what Jesus said "let the dead bury the dead." Those outside of Him walk in death, those in Him have put the deeds of the flesh to death. There is no compromise.

  • @servant714 Unfortunately, many have abused texts to find support for their or prejudice. BTW, I'm not gay, but that's not the point here. So, don't fear for me, fear for yourself. Please don't try to keep homosexuals out of the Kingdom. While you can't do that anyway, what you may possibly do is is go against the purposes of God. Here's a fact: no one chooses their sexual orientation. Jesus never judged anyone who was in a situation out of their control. Jesus never mentioned homosexuality.

  • @servant714 those without sin cast the first stone...those outside of him would be people those who dont follow him,do not judge lest you be judged, judgement is for God alone, with what measure you judge you will be judged,Jesus has ransomed all mankind with his LOVE and started a kingdom of peace(kingdom of God) on earth, Jesus"s message gave way to CHRISTIANITY a Roman invention,

  • @servant714 You think someone stops sinning after they turn to Jesus Christ? It's God's grace that saves and NOT our so-called good works.

  • @FORMETOKNOWONLY I know how severe this sounds, but it isn't our righteousness, it is a righteousness from God that comes through abiding in Christ. You might accidentally sin and for this we repent daily as Jesus taught us, but willfull sin is quite different. To think adulterous or murderous or covetous thoughts, to sit at the computer with the intention of viewing pronography, this is an act of will that opposes the grace of God, anyone doing these things is not in Christ.

  • @servant714 According to your logic no true Christian sins willfully? Uh, huh. So, essentially you are saying a true believer in Christ can lose grace and salvation.

This isn't addressed to you but to those that may be reading this that they know: When you confess your sin and ask Jesus Christ to save you that settles it. Your sins are forgiven past, present, and future.

When he died for me 2000 years ago ALL of my sins were in the future btw. A word to the wise is sufficient.

  • @FORMETOKNOWONLY the false gospel gives a false security that you just ask forgiveness and now grace is a license to sin, if you knew what sin does to the heart of God, if you loved God, you would run from sin because of what it does to Him. You walk in the flesh and cannot accept spiritual things, lean not on your own understanding but in ALL YOUR WAYS acknowledge Him. The Christian life isn't possible by any fleshly attempt, it is by faith through grace.

  • @servant714 Didn't say anything about a license to sin...now you are trying to speak for me. As far as I am concerned this little discussion is over.

  • @FORMETOKNOWONLY do not follow the false teachers, read 2 Timothy 3:1-9. These are evil days friend and many are being deceived, I want you to know the truth not to win a debate, debates do not glorify God, I want you to be like me, a watchman to warn the sleeping virgins, the day of the Lord is very close.

  • @servant714 26 If we deliberately keep on sinning after we have received the knowledge of the truth, no sacrifice for sins is left, 27 but only a fearful expectation of judgment and of raging fire that will consume the enemies of God

  • @landsdown44 Yea, he is a post-modern prophet, alright.

Jesus Christ came to save that which was lost. Somehow that gets lost in McLaren translation. I am a babe in Christ myself, but know enough of the Gospel not to buy what this wolf in sheeps clothing is selling.

    BE NOT DECEIVED!

  • @FORMETOKNOWONLY Apparently you don't have the capacity to know what it is that Brian McLaren has said or written that is offensive. Just how does McLaren miss that Jesus came to save that which was lost? So far I have not seen one post that can show just what McLaren has produced that is against the Gospel. Huh.

  • @landsdown44 He doesn't seem to take a position one way or the other, which I opine so that this new doctrine doesn't upset the sensibilities of the world. No, I don't have the capacity to accept it.

I remember Christ saying something about salt, you get what I am saying.

This movement is just another indicator to me of the "emerging" ecumenical movement (which in my mind isn't a good thing).

  • @FORMETOKNOWONLY Why is McLaren required to make a theological about everything in just the way you think it should. McLaren is making the Gospel clear to many more. It is the same Gospel as in the New Testament. You should be rejoicing.

  • Comment removed

  • crackhead.

  • finally someone who is waking the fuck up..

  • What ? is this guy takin about he should run for office. I think Jesus message is pretty simple but not easy "repent the kingdom of God is at hand".

  • Is this guy an apologist for sexual perverts?

  • the gospel is simple repent meaning turn from your sin and believe the gospel if you truely believe the gospel Gods grace will transform you it is written in the new testament be transformed by the renewing of your mind

  • Brian McLaren is a liar and corrupts the gospel of Jesus Christ

  • I heard that Jesus restored some bald dude's hair. But I'll believe that when I see it.

  • Jesus. Lol.

  • Gotta love the bible for giving you an excuse to do whatever you felt like doing. Example: Shellfish. It's either a delicious food, or an abomination before god, depending on your personal preference in scripture-twisting.

  • He is correct on the Kingdom of God. Of course when Christ first started the kingdom of God he preached Repent and believe the gospel which is fairly straight forward. He is reading his understanding into what the scriptures teach-eisegesis.

He speaks of religion as a way of life which is not wrong but this way of life supposes Christ is King and he is the one we obey. Do not be folled, the modernists liberals also preached the kingdom of God and this is exactly what emergent teaches

  • get off the slippery soap box McLaren. . You opinions of Jesus /Yeshua, are YOURS alone. Problem is , your effecting peope, The Jesus you speak of , is not the Biblical One. Jesus came to SAVE SOULS from an ETERNAL HELL which is what WE all deserve as WE make our choices for Good or Bad or Both, But Jesus Shed blood is payment of our sin. repenting from evil( Deliver us from Evil" LORD:S PRAYER) struggling in this world to overcome sin is work. by the Grace of our Lord Yeshua

  • Please, give us a break... the Kingdom of God is exactely that, don't try to related Jesus to a message of mystery as OTHER mystery religions. Jesus came to GIVE life, after death, in the kingdom, His Kingdom is NOT of this world, but will be in the grand finale. This is Satan's world and those who chose to follow Jesus, are not of this world, but are of the Kingdom to COME. not this world as it is. Stop confussing Jesus message, If you haven't the wisdom to see, then, so be it.

  • endtymsnatzal, but what about when Jesus said that his kingdom is within people? (Luke 17:21). And what about the fact that Jesus taught us to pray, "Let your kingdom COME ON EARTH as it is in heaven"?

  • I love that Yeshua made His gospel messege so confusing.... I just find it so intrigueing

I wish I had a better relationship to the land...

    *vomit*

  • In this three minute video he is supposed to talk about the message of Jesus, yet did he use even one scripture!?!?!?!

  • So the Kingdom of God is a way in which we are ALL connected? NO! There is but ONE way to Heaven and that is through Jesus. I know some people want to create their own theology, but its all just a bunch of intelligent sounding words. Of all religions, Christianity is the only one with a risen Savior! I will not candy coat what my Lord did for me on that cross!

  • @ilovealan1000 amen your rite on

  • There is no SECRET message of Jesus!

  • Problems and debates arise whenever we leave out one or the other. We are chronic pendulum swingers. Again, Scripture teaches BOTH.

  • The Gospel of Jesus is not either or! Substitution or the restoration of earth. Salvation from sin or social justice. It is BOTH. Through the life, death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus, believers are rescued from God's judgment, welcomed into the Kingdom, and invited by God into a new way of living patterned after the way things are in Heaven. A way of life that we seek to increasingly nurture here, until the time comes when God brings the fulness of his Kingdom to earth at the end of time

  • This guy is going to Hell and takin' many with him. The Endtimes docrine of Demons is the Ecumenacal and Emergent churhc movement, moving away from BIBLICal practices Jesus set up for us , A simple Gospel, that this guy is polluting. He's Satan's Angel, working full time. Don't be decieved

  • strong words towards a video where a guy is saying Jesus' message relates to every dimension of our lives... he's going to hell for that?

  • He is going to hell for not having faith in the finished work of Christ which he denies Christ died for sin. He twists the scriptures to his ends and does more prooftexting then anyone I have seen. He is a liar. Existentialism is a modernist phlosophy totally built on individuality and he uses it all the time. So if modernism is bad-why does he use all these modern philosophies(communism/helegianism)

  • @daveme7 Haven't met a Christian yet who doesn't twist the "scripture" to their own ends. Speaking of which, nice to know you fancy yourself God, and get to personally decide who goes to hell.

  • MICK77 doesn't seem aware that Mt. 5&6 are about kingdom principles we should live by: but who of us can claim to be perfect "even as your Father in heaven is perfect"? Failing to live perfectly in Gods commands is by definition sin ("harmartiah"-to fall short of the mark.

The Gospel has been and always will be to repent of our sins, receive salvation freely offered by the blood atonement of Christ Jesus by faith, through grace in the written Truth of God's Word. Any other definition is false!!

  • McLaren is a breath of fresh air which Christianity sorely needs. The gospel of sin and redemption and the blood atonement is an affront to God and has been Satan's most effective tool in keeping Christians away from the true gospel, which Jesus explains with great clarity in Matthew 5 and 6 and especially in Matthew 26. Also in the Gospel of John. Sin and appeasing an angry God is, again, the greatest heresy that ever existed. Time to wake up brothers and sisters, and be free of Satan's big lie

  • Jesus first message was to repent for the kingdom of God is at hand. What part of this don't any of you or Brian McClarin understand?? We do not come to God our way - it is on Gods. Brian McClaren is a heritic. Look at the rest of his teachings and compare them to the scriptures before sending me an unfounded personal message. I have studied this mans doctrines and I am sad to say that they do NOT line up with the scriptures. Don't get mad at me - I didn't write the Book.

  • New age devil

  • But Jesus also said that His kingdom is not of this world. While it impacts this world, i'm sure, it is greater than this world.

  • Comment removed

  • How is Jesus' gospel absent from this message?

  • Well, according to those who vehemently oppose him, because he's not solely talking about sin and repentance, which is a part of it, but it is not all of it. The Gospel is about more than just repentance.

Yes, Jesus died for our sins, but the Gospel or "good news' is that because of his death, there is no longer enmity between God and humankind.

Unfortunately, that message has been twisted into a message that produces guilt and condemnation, and presents God as if he's still bitter and mad

  • Face it, The days of the Right-Wing Conservative are over. God is coming for all the people that you have run out of church with your legalistic, dogmatic, doctrines. Your empty churches show your failure. You have forsaken God by using his name to support Hate, Slavery, Racism, War, Gay bashing, and Sexism. People have finally woken up and starting to actually think for themselves and you can't stand it. Because your losing the control that you once had.
  • Wow...lots of fighting words!

I'm very surprised by the resistance against Brian McLaren and his messages. I would be careful when calling someone a "wolf in sheep's clothing"...those are very powerful accusations! While I may not agree with everything McLaren teaches, I find his approaches compelling in their appeal to the state of society. People want a world-view that they can be involved in...they want to be a part of a meta-narrative. The Kingdom of God is now and we are a part of it.

  • I don't know much about Brian McClaren but I absolutely agree with him in this video!

  • This is so much doublespeak. The Gospel of Christ is absent from his message.

  • agreed. the kingdom is here. now. human flesh and bone. love god. love neighbors. love enemies. love the least. in all things, consider others better than yourself. it is the kingdom.

  • Thanks Brian for your message. While I do not endorse all of what you teach I do appreciate you emphasis on what the Kingdom of God encompases. It's not just about salvation but yes lifestyle and social action. Praise God!

  • there is never any real truth as to the gosple ever presented, this movement is always about there feelings, and what they think should be right, becouse it makes them feel comfortable, and this false movement calls its self christian, it could not be farther from the text, the bible is not there final authority, and thats one way you know there not christian, there wolves in sheeps clothing,

watch out for them, and check everything out againts the bible, see what the word says

  • I haven't heard a stitch of Gospel.

  • you "haven't heard a stitch" of the message ABOUT jesus that has been driiled into christians for a long time.(what you call "Gospel")....what if the "gospel"was the message jesus actually spoke of?????

  • That's funny, this is the Gospel I grew up with: "...I declare to you the Gospel which I preached to you, which alos you received and in which you stand, by which also you are saved, if you hold fast to the word I preached to you- unless you believed in vain. For I delivered to you first of all that which I also recieved: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again on the Third day according to the Scriputures." 1 Corinthians 15:1-4

  • I think youll find Jesus came as a fullfillment of the law. The law was there to highlight our sin , Jesus was God manifest in flesh, he was perfect man ,he took on our sin as an antonement for sin on the cross. Hebrews 9 & 10 shows thisand anyone who is in Christ should not be deceived with this postmordern, man centred faith

  • Amen.

  • It's refreshing to hear a christian that is not arrogantly proclaiming his brand of truth as the way. As a Christian, I agree with Brian. If we honestly accept the truth that we "see through a glass dimly" doesn't that leave alot of room to be wrong? How does anyone really know if they have it right? Jesus came to abolish the law and injustice, but many christian attempt to resurrect it again with their rulebook and finger pointing.

  • What happened to the passage of scripture where Jesus says, "I am the way, I AM THE TRUTH, and I am the life." He also said That He "was the door to the sheepfold" and "if you came in any other way you are a thief and a robber"... In the same narrative he also said "ALL who came BEFORE ME are thieves and robbers"...Jesus excluded all other religions and philosophies to proclaim his exclusivity. I would rather believe him than Mr. McLaren. You would be wise to do the same.

  • EXCLUSIVITY in religion borders on DOGMATISM. :Pure dogmatism. 50 million of Christians and unbelievers died under the Inquistion in Rome, England, France, and Spain. 5O MILLION!!!!

Dogmatism is the work of SUPREMO FASCISTS WHITE SUPREMACISTS who wants to build a ONE WORLD RELIGION....

    Fat hopes...

  • Christ preached that He was the way the truth and the life,,, NO ONE would see the Father except through him! Exclusivity is taught throughout the bible, if you have a proclem with that, feel free to be a hindu... but do not call yourself a follower of Christ...

  • Right on brother...beautiful message but they always want to do it without God.

  • What bible is this man reading?

  • Wow, is this guy a Liberal college professor or just a straight up messanger of deceit? Mr. McLaren, I can see you are an educated man, from a worldly prospective; however that won't buy you a ticket into heaven. You are truly spewing nothing more than deceit which the Bible clearly warns about the beguiling of Christian paths by those who would deceive you. Jesus loves you too, but you have to confess your a sinner and accept him as your Lord. Living for Jesus far outweighs worly views.

  • Living for Jesus far outweighs wordly views that is. Big words and sounding important doesn't make your views correct Mr. McLaren and you will answer for all those souls that you and your movement are deceiving. I am praying for this country and especially the youth of this country that the Emerging belief system, will simply go away like every other ridiculous fad. Why don't open your heart to Christ and stop trying to prove him wrong through science. Only one way to the Father, through Jesus!

  • siralbone2001 is seriously deluded. He's obviously sold on the lopsided notion that Christianity is about "buying a ticket to heaven", and getting his butt in there after he dies. He's mistaken if he thinks Jesus came to start another Religion, in even approaching Christianity as a religion.

Jesus incarnated specifically to show us a radically different way to live than what was then, and is now, going down in the world.

Approaching Christianity as a Way of Life is the only sane choice.

  • Noone buys a ticket to heaven my friend. Salvation is not bought. It was already paid for at the cross. The Bible is already the perfect truth, and it does not need to be changed. I never said Jesus came to start another religion. Jesus came to save sinners from an everlasting Hell because he loves us. The Emergent belief is radical alright. So radical indeed, that it will take you down a broad road to destruction. I will pray for you heart and mind songster that you find the truth. God Bless!

  • Then why did you suggest they are available for purchase? And I quote (from YOU): "Mr. McLaren, I can see you are an educated man, from a worldly prospective; however that won't buy you a ticket into heaven."

  • Ever heard of an exaggeration? I realize that no one can buy a ticket to heaven. I also know that you are looking for an argument just because I made a play on words. I don't want to fight with you so I will "turn the other cheek", and just say; read your Bible, especially Revelation 22:18,19. The Emerging Movement and this whole "New Earth" garbage is damaging the truth about Jesus Christ and the Word of God. You don't just add to or take away from the Bible to make your faith comfortable;;;;

  • or pleasing however you want to see it. That is why you need to read those two verses. It's not so hard to see the truth. God Bless You, I will pray for you and those who fall victim to "Emergent" movement. It is a broad road that leads to destruction my friend, and falling for deceit will take you down that road. Have a Blessed Day!

  • Google "Brian McLaren quotes" and read for yourself the heretical garbage this guy promotes. The "Apologetics Index" is another good spot to read.

  • taking quotes out of context doesn't sound like the best way to refute someone. imagine how ridiculous the Bible sounds when you google a text from it...

  • Thank you Brian McLaren for making the Kingdom of God a more clear picture for those of us in 2008.

  • Rev 1:5-7

And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood,

6 And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

7 Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen.

    KJV

  • This is the most unbiblical answer that I have ever heard!

  • There is one thing that is clearly evident from Brian McClaren, he has not developed his theology from Scripture. He missed Genesis. We are KICKED OUT of the Garden. God provided a way, through the PERFECT SACRIFICIAL BLOOD of His SON , to return to Him.

  • Amen!

  • I meant sinner

  • Jesus' core message was and still is "believe in Him, confess you are a sinnir in need of a savior, and repent.

  • The Kingdom is a way of life, but the core message of Jesus' teaching on the Kingdom is the premise that because of sin our world is out of sync with God and the universe, and that we need to be forgiven & reconciled with God. This is why Jesus said "repent, for the Kingdom of God is at hand." As Newbigin put it, this is not simply a call for moral reformation, but to do a U-turn, to turn around and believe the gospel, to be transformed by the renewing of your mind. It's God's redemptive reign.

  • Real similar to Tony Campolo's message. The "mystery" part nailed it pretty well for me. But let's not understate that Jesus came to provide a way to the father- for salvation.

  • Brian McClaren is a Liar & False Teacher.

His doctrines are from the Pit of Hell !

Don't believe this wicked man !

  • XJayX7,

There is only one Lawgiver who is able to save and destroy. Who are you to judge your brother? (James 4:12)

    And

Do not speak evil against one another, brothers. (James 4:11)

Before you say, "He's not my brother" think for a second. Anyone who believes that Jesus is the Son of God; and that He died for their sins; and rose on the third day, is a brother.

It doesn't matter if he believes in speaking in tongues or infant baptism. He is still your brother in Christ.

  • veritas89g >>> this is what the bible says >>>

2Pe 2:1 But there were False Prophets also among the people, even as there shall be False Teachers among you, who privily shall bring in Damnable Heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction.

False Teachers bring in Damnable Heresies !

Do they sound like a 'brother' to you ?

    Mat 7:21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven;

    Brother ? No. Deceivers.

  • Veritas > don't confuse unrighteous judgement & speaking evil of a brother with exposing False Teachers bringing in Damnable Heresies & are aiding the Apostasy.

If you believe one can never expose the Apostasy & Heresy well you'll just sit there and receive All the False Doctrines then won't you ?

Do you know what the great falling away is ? the Apostasy ?

Do you think we are to sit back & not warn our fellow brothers & sisters of Liars, Deceivers & False Teachers in the church ?

  • XJayX7,

Have you even studied the heresies that plagued the early church?

Arianism- denying that Jesus and the Father are One; states that Jesus was not divine but merely human.

Manichaeism- teaching that the body is irreconcilably evil; that whatever sins the body commits are free from judgment because the soul is good. Also teaches that evil and good are balanced forces; that no force of good can overcome a force of evil and vice versa.

Heresy isn't a word to be thrown around lightly XJay

  • There is a big difference between a heresy and a theological difference in opinion. I may not agree with everything Brian says, but that doesn't make him a "heretic". Read my examples of heresy- they go against the core values of every Christian denomination from the Catholics to the Baptists. You can't disagree with someone's opinion and label them a heretic. To do so only makes you an elitist.

Read the Nicene Creed of 381- anyone who believes that is a brother and should be respected.

  • veritas > do you know what "apostasy" means ?

sorry, you don't have spiritual discernment.

you've got a lot to learn.

  • Apostasy is the total desertion of principles and beliefs. Brian has not totally deserted the principles of Christianity. If you want a good example of someone who has, look at Oprah.

Even though you do not know me- you presumably claim I lack a spiritual gift that you possess. For your pride's sake, I will agree.

I must ask how your "gift" can be so recklessly used. You fight just like the people of this world. Be a peacemaker and honor God. Spreading strife is of the enemy; not the Father.

  • veritas > sorry , you been deceived into believing that apostasy is a total desertion, utterly false.

this is what the bible says >

1Co 5:6 Your glorying is not good. Know ye not that a little leaven leaveneth the whole lump?

what does 'little leaven' represent ?

a little bit of false doctrine here & there, sprinkled to leaven the truth.

p.s i don't need to know you, the bible says "out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks".

your own words reveal your lack of understanding.

  • veritas > look at yourself first.

seriously, you have no idea how dangerous this stuff is...you're no doubt a relatively young novice who is not easily taught.

1Ti 3:6 "...a novice, lest being lifted up with pride he fall into the condemnation of the devil."

    your pride is evident.

the unwise responds like yourself making false accusations ie. spreading strife etc.

you don't understand the subtilty & depth of satan's devices. If you don't want to heed a warning of deception, so be it.

  • Knowledge puffs up, but love edifies.

But alas, you are right XJayX7.

But not because you presented a well-thought argument.

Not because you corrected me in love and humility as scripture demands(2 Tim. 2:24-25).

Not because of your elitist jargon.

I found a video in which Brian said the cross was "not the only way" to salvation. This is apostasy by my definition(and the dictionary's). This whole debate could have been avoided if you had simply supplied evidence to your accusations.

  • veritas > i have no joy in being right.

the reason i speak strongly is because there are so many people being deceived by these charlatans & worst of all, christians who are defending them, like yourself.

the bible says the following when a harsh rebuke is necessary >

    Tit 1:13 "Wherefore rebuke them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith;

further, Pro 27:5 Open rebuke is better than secret love.

i know the horrors of this deception, that's why i speak strongly against it.

  • veritas > i thank the Lord that He's revealed this to you because i can see you're a sincere believer.

i can assure you again, i have no pleasure in being right, i am so grieved at the deception that has infiltrated the church.

most is new age movement filth.

my life was nearly destroyed because of these lies, but the Lord had mercy.

so many christians today do not have discernment & will defend these deceivers to the hilt.

God bless, sorry if i grieved you...go and warn others !

  • veritas > i'll say it again, this man is a deceiver & a false teacher.

you do not have spiritual discernment, a gift of the Holy Spirit.

you have some 'historical' knowledge, doesn't compare to the gift of discernment.

  • 2Th 2:3 Let No Man Deceive You by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a Falling Away First..

    Veritas89g >

2Ti 4:2 "...be instant in season, out of season; Reprove, Rebuke, Exhort with all longsuffering and Doctrine.

2Ti 4:3 For the time will come when

    THEY WILL NOT ENDURE SOUND DOCTRINE; BUT AFTER THEIR OWN LUST shall they heap to themselves teachers, Having Itching Ears;

2Ti 4:4 And they SHALL TURN AWAY THEIR EARS FROM THE TRUTH, and shall be turned unto fables.

  • he doesnt understand scripture. he says hes frustrated that Jesus spoke in parables. yet He had to do that to fulfill the scripture 'they will listen with their ears and not hear, they will look with their eyes and not see'. only the ones who listen with their hearts understand parable.. what does this guy wana hear.

  • Jesus said ive come to bring division.

  • I don't think Brian was denying the fundamentals of Jesus' message that we all adhere to. He's emphasizing the complexity and mystery in some of Jesus' sayings. I like how he pointed out the kingdom of God applies to every aspect of human life. Don't be so quick to start witch trials. Maybe learn something.

  • No mention of sin, repentance or judgment. Jesus came to seek and save the lost. He came to live a perfect life, die a substitutionary death and rise again for our justification. Repentance and faith; turn from sin and trust in Christ as your only means of reconciliation between you a sinner and God a Holy judge. That sounds nothing like what McLaren just said.

  • What the heck is he talking about? I guess truth and clarity aren't wanted anymore. as long as he's "nice" he's Christian.

  • I definitely agree that the Kingdom of God is all encompassing: economics, politics, moral, ethical, etc. Living for Jesus is not only a spiritual salvation.

  • no. but it is spiritual at its core. Mk 1:15: Repent and believe the gospel. That is the call, for all to repent.

  • God gave us all the straight answers we need in His word - You, Mr McLaren, don't want to hear it.

    Utter gobbledegoop!!

  • Amen. Where is the message of Jesus? Nowhere does he mention the need for forgiveness of sins! The Kingdom is not of this world. Jesus was pretty clear about that. We are not part of the kingdom unless we know Christ as Lord and savior. Well put, "Utter gobbledegoop."

  • try turning up the volume next time before you decide its gobbledeegook. McLaren is speaking the Truth, the sort that WILL draw all people unto Jesus. Including the thinkers, the atheists, and the religiously-damaged, undoubtedly left out of your fundamentalist marginalizing alienating fearful paradigm. CHILL OUT, man. Mclaren's not disputing God's word, if anything he's disputing American evangelical 20th century (deliberate) misunderstandings of scripture.

  • Godlessness in the Last Days

  • II Tim 3:1-9 1 But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. 2 People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3 without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self‑control, brutal, not lovers of the good, 4 treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God-- 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with them.

  • Dear FMPastorTodd, it says, 'from these turn away', not from these people but these types of sins that are apparent in these people. Are we then to turn our backs on our sinning parents if one becomes born again? Is one who is born again averted wholly from sinning ever after?

Yes I'am to deny my parents before denying God, but we are not to turn away from THEM! only their sins and who is without sin? We should not twiat God's words that is sin. God bless.

  • 6 They are the kind who worm their way into homes and gain control over weak‑willed women, who are loaded down with sins and are swayed by all kinds of evil desires, 7 always learning but never able to acknowledge the truth. 8 Just as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so also these men oppose the truth--men of depraved minds, who, as far as the faith is concerned, are rejected. 9 But they will not get very far because, as in the case of those men, their folly will be clear to everyone.

  • it's a bird, it's a plane... it's a gospel pimp
