Thank you for introducing this song and singer 董佩佩 and composer 姚敏 to me. Beautiful song and lovely singing. I missed the opportunity to enjoy the Hong Kong music scene. I left in 1949.
forgive me for sounding ignorant, English is my first lang, but I find that I am liking songs like these, trying to get some on my iPod, especially the one about Princess Zhao Jun. if anyone has any more to suggest and how to dl it, just message me.
In 1959, Tsai Chin 周采芹 (actress) recorded an English version of Yao Ming's 姚敏 The Second Spring 第二春 , which featured in the London stage musical "The World of Suzie Wong ". With lyrics by Lionel Bart, The Ding Dong Song was released as a single on Decca backed by the original Mandarin version. Although they were not made with Hong Kong audiences in mind The Ding Dong Song became popular local nightclub songs and is well-remembered in Hong Kong.
verse 2: ming ming shi mo mo hu hu de huang hun, wei shen me hai you qing qing chu chu de deng ying, kan bu chu shi xi hai shi jing, fen bu chu shi meng hai shi zhen, hao xiang shi yi zhi jian, chuan tou liao wo de xin . chuang wai bu zai you qi qi qie qie de you ling, hu ting de xi que qi ming jin ye de qing feng, dai lai liao di er chun, yao ba xiao chen de ye ying chui xing .
She is one of my favour singer, she had appear in a Mandarin movies in late 50's singing -Life is like a Flower Basket, really great and pretty and great voice. Sorry i dont have Chinese computer so i cant write the name of the movie in Chinese , but the main actress is Little Wild Cat-Miss Joan Ching
Thanks, but I was looking for a direct translation of the Chinese lyrics. I only understand about half of the lyrics - my chinese no good. I knew the Ding Dong song since young. The English version has different lyrics, meaning.
She can be named Dong Bei Bei or Tung Pei Pei or Tong Pui Pui. She is one of my favoirte singer. This is her original song. She sang in one of the famous Night Club in Causeway Bay, Hong Kong in the 60-70´s.
Later she disappeared from the public. We missed her very much.
This is such old music. That is even my father and mother's song. At that time there only turn table and no VCR at all. Thank for posting. This really bring me back to my pre-school time.
看到簡體字就令人噁心........

so full of expression and emotion...something sorely lacking in modern music

I like the lyrics. It is quite crafty with neat contradictions.
It is clear that it is hazy...
