mmmm wrong. lifestyle they don't deserve? fans forget that athletes are privileged people and rightfully so. they sacrifice much of their leisure time to stay at peak performance. while most will work 8 hours at a desk job, the best athletes will be under duress for nearly 10 hours a day in season physically, not to mention the mental stress and scrutiny.
sure, there are some assholes that aren't dedicated and they will get hurt and be out of the game earlier than others...

He had a reputation as someone who wouldnt communicate or even acnowledge fans. Even on the final game of the season when the rest of the team was signing, Rios would walk by a crowd of kids like they didnt exist.

The guy was an All star the last 2 years. 14 Home runs and 62 RBIs is not bad at all for a guy hitting .264 on the season either. I mean, Wells got $126 million over 7 years based on 30 HRs and 100 RBIs. The potential for 20 HRs and 80 RBIs at $10 million a season is a much better deal IMO.
