I'm French, and here in France we had copies of this american series.. and I can tell you one thing, all those who have seen these episodes still remember Gilligan's character, and you know what? this serie has never ever been shown agin on tv here ! and we miss this matter of fact..;

and Iwas never lucky enough to find any dvd or copy of any episode...

so you can imagine how happy I am when I just can listen to this song...

brings back such lovely memories;...!

yeah i know what you mean, everything was much better then, no taxes on commodities,groceries,cars boats, food, homes, gas was so cheap it was almost free and  no one was sneaking into the country then cause the military patrolled the borders, and in 1960 99% of americans in this country were americans, there was only two races, whites and eskimo's. i'm not making this up. in 1968 the civil rights movement, was a mistake!

You know the Minnow you see here is still around. But its been refurbished and doesn't look like it does here. The Orca was an old boat that Jaws' production designer bought and built it up extensively for the film. The boat sank or was scrapped, it's not around anymore.

There was a time when Gilligan's hat became a fashion item for teenagers.

they were the "rich couple" prototype and it's long been a comical device to portray the rich as "packing everything" because it shows off their wealth to have a big wardrobe. that's my explanation why the Howell's decided to bring their wardrobe...plus you could say Mr Howell was a pessimist and a cynic and probably thought the worst and planned ahead.
