the reason why there's more pcs is cuz microsoft sold out to buisness so people at work got more familiar with pcs so bought them at home. while mac sold out to public. AND, the reason pcs need better processing power and memory is to maintain there system. Macs have been developed to run fast on slow processors. i used pcs all my life and got pissed off a lot. i got mac for a week and learned to everything i wanted to do easily without having to buy programs on the net.

-Play games like l4d2, Cod MW2, Half Life

- Upgrade abilities (for hardware)

Cost less than $500 And have more than 4GB ram and dual core or higher

- Have Billions of programs made for it, millions and millions which are free

-Have the main coding languages used in games and porgs.

and do all if not most of that without using Microsoft products or free programs.

I've never caught a virus, spyware, trojans or whatever in my life. And I'm using Windows without an antivirus program most of the time.

Besides, there are more viruses for windows cuz most people use it. Why would anyone bother making one for a mac? ...I would. XD

It is harder to get a virus/spyware on ure computer with a Mac, and thats just from personal experienc, but i would of thought the majority of viruses/trojans etc are aimed at PC users, simply to cause more "damage"... PC users being the (Very large) majority of Web Users. Thats not making any excuses for Xp though (well at least the original release) ..that thing had more holes than a sponge when it came out.

I sympathize Nogert, I'm dyslexic too. BooRadley & thegroove, try being a bit more understanding. BTW spell checker isn't fool proof. Unless I'm turing in a term paper and having it proof read by a trusted friend/advisor, I'm not going to obsess over every underlined thing in an informal post. Dang jsut replying to this took over 5 minutes! Bottom line, drop the sarcasim and be nice.

i have a pc but liked mac more. i used a mac for a couple years, never ran anything to check for virus's and never had a problem with it. pc's are annoying with their virus scans, they take forever.

It's not that no one will write viruses for mac, the whole mac system really is a lot more secure so that almost no one would know how to hack one. And the people who are smart enough to find a way how to are off frying bigger fish.

Of course there are no viruses for the mac, only a small percentage of the market uses them. Mac is safe because it's obscure. If mac ever becomes as popular as the PC then you will see viruses for it. But right now... why would a virus writer go thru the effort of a writing a virus that would only effect 2 percent of the market?

they don't... it is actually true. there are no known active virus' for the Mac. even in labs, all threats have had to have had human confirmation/interaction. the mac is malware-free.

there are mac viruses. Weather you own a pc or a mac people can and do program spy ware and viruses for them. I knew a mac owner who thought their mac was slowing down because it was 'getting old' (they had only had it 2 years) what had happened was they had never run checks on spy ware and viruses. this typifies the average mac owners lack of knowledge. seriously whichever os you have run effective virus controls and firewalls.

this is still heresay. there are no virus' for the mac. if you can post a link to evidence of a legitmate, in-the-wild virus running on the mac os x platform, please do, but you may find it difficult. there is only one decent mac AV, (ClamAV) and even they know the main usage of their program is to clear forwarded emails of any pc-specific virus' before sending them on again.

Mac is Built on UNIX, not Linux or anything else. UNIX is solid.
