I'm 18, I've been playing for 2-3 years(roughly 3 hours per day) and I can play most of Slash's solos. The trick (for me at least) is making my own solos, and improvising like he just did.

Throughout my entire life of Music, i've found that Slash has been the best soloist out of all guitarists.

First comes emotion, and the Soul in music. THEN comes technicality and composition. Slash has that soul in his playing that makes it beautiful.

You can find a classically trained guitarist, and play anything and everything known to man on a guitar, but it STILL won't ever sound as soulful, or as beautiful as Slash.

I think the pentatonic scale is quite useful in lead guitar playing. For what slash does, the pentatonic and blues scales are great, you know? They fit. He plays with his tone, his sound, and his style. Nice overdriven Marshall tube amplifiers through a good ol' Les Paul custom, what's the problem?
