  • thanks for info

  • @freevideos051 welcome...

  • Never seen a fish skinned like that before. Great stuff! I don't get a lot of trout up here, though. Does that work for Walleye or Pike?

  • @Kerouac2k1 It could work for walleye but not pike...this method does not work well with scaled fish...

  • Mike, very nice i do the same, i especially like the skinning method very slick havnt seen that one before tho. goodstuff

    -Mitch

  • @Nativesurvival Very welcome Mitch :) Thanks

  • Nice to learn something on youtube rather than watching idiots talking to a camera about nonsense. Thanks!

  • @johnnytuups welcome...

  • I all ready knew how to gut a fish but sure didn't know that you could skin one so easily. I would have thought it would be more harder than that. Thank you for teaching me something that I thought would be difficult.

  • @KLD2929 You are very welcome..

  • Brings back so many memories fishing with my dad. You couldn't eat unless you cleaned.

  • That method would be good on skining cat fish

  • @windmag22 It probably would :) Thanks...

  • Good video. I have never thought about skinning trout. I might try that method. Thanks for sharing.

  • @allenh60 Welcome...

  • WOW HOW LIFE IS, YOU TOOK ME BACK WHEN I WAS A KID GOING FISHING WITH MY DAD AND UNCLE IN THE WATER OFF CITY ISLAND IN THE BRONX.. I NEVER THOUGHT MUCH OF IT WHEN I WAS YOUNG, BUT NOW THAT I HAVE KIDS OF MY OWN I FEEL MORE DROWN TO IT, MORE THEN EVER, LOL NOT JUST THE FISHING BUT EVERYTHING IT JUST TOOK ME BACK TO THE BASICS AND HOW GREAT LIFE IS AND WHY WE SHOULD MAKE THE BEST OF IT, THANK YOU. THANK YOU FOR THE VIDEOS AND YOUR GREAT EXPERIENCES AND FOR SHAIRING... GOD BLESS..

  • @josesandra1946 Appreciate your comment...thank you very much...

  • sorry my friend, thats a trout. You just gut it and leave the head on. You are not cleaning a brim.

  • @tonysyl7175 You are right it is a trout...look at the tilte of the vid :) Thanks...

  • Thanks for reloading Mike !

    Groetjes

  • @patje0109 Hello Pete :) You are welcome.

  • i grow up on a farm cleaned animals a lot just part of life

  • I'll have to use a 6" Fiskars from the 1970's. The blade has approximately same shape. It is however a thin blade, I suppose for fillets? Works great for general cooking,,. veggies and such.

I can see that your knife has a thicker blade for heavier work and perhaps for suitable for most fish. If I ever get lucky enough to catch a fish I'll find out.

  • @InTheSticks0001 A filet knife is great...it will certainly do the job.

  • Looks like you've got some unusually warm weather there. We just now turned cold like winter should be, and even got some snow here in Montana. Heard there is unusually warm weather across North American. Drought this growing season is possible. I believe this is a result of the BP Oil spill and the stoppage of the Gulf Stream and North Atlantic current , the rudder of the Jet Stream. NOAA shows the Gulf Stream as weak or nonexistent.

  • @InTheSticks0001 Its actually really cold....This is a re upload I had to put back from a couple of summers ago.

  • nice video, man. ^^ subscribed.

  • @atlcoatl Thanks...

  • cleaned more fish than i care to remember lol good video

  • @skunkape49 :)

  • what kinds of things can you do with the skin?

  • @nathanyamaha465 If you catch 1000 trout, you could make yourself an awesome shiny troutskin jacket.

  • Cooked freshly caught fish is unbeatable! Great video.

  • @Lawborn Agreed :)

  • Mike, while you're still hungry, here's wot ya do: Rice, washed and cooked, fish, cooked how you like - soy sauce, mix everything together gently and...EAT UP! It's something an American friend showed me many, many years ago. Want veggies? Mix some in, but this guy just ate the rice and fish with the soy sauce. And yes, he cooked trout:) (Slurp).

  • @ChristLikeness100 Thanks for the recipe Jen :) Sounds a lot like I eat pretty often :) I live with someone who is from the Philippines :)))

  • Good work! gutted loads of fish, but never skinned. learn something new everyday

  • @skullmap Thanks...

  • Dawg Mike-Blackie Collins...you got a primo knife there my friend and probably very expensive as well. On my wish list for sure. Like to see how you do Catfish I think we all do it different huh?

  • @pappyhighlife Thanks Pappy...When the time comes for catfish I will try and post something :) I think I paid around the 50$ mark at a local hunting store but not 100% sure. Its been a while...

  • Excellent demo man. Great vid.

  • @ReeperzOutdoors Thank you...

  • Vegetarians are people who have never eaten the cheek meat on a fish.

I just finished a project for tanning fish skin that involves soaking the skin in urine for about 8 hours. It is a primitive process I learned from Eskimo women, however this process is widely used by other cultures of the past.

  • @TheMojavegreen1 Thanks for the info...

  • @bushcraftbartons

I just uploaded a video demonstrating this easy process.

  • @moorcamper mmmmmmm...now you really made me hungry JAN :)

  • Gr8 tip for skinning a fish! I wonder if that would work on catfish? As usual GR8 vid Mike, and gr8 camera work Josie.

  • @HillbillysNdaBush Welcome bro....I suppose it would work with catfish as long as you clip off the 3 quills/neeldes (not sure of the term in english as you can see :) on each fin so as not to tear the skin as you pull on it. I know you guys in the south are strong on catfish. If ever you try it let me know if it worked. Thanks.

  • Nice knife and a nice tutorial about skin a fish! I like it very much!

    wishes Gabriel.

  • Very interesting Mike! I wonder if the same skinning method would work on bass. Thanks for another compelling video. I need to go fishing now. lol. Thanks again brother. ~Wolf

  • @FatDaddy4Fun No problem Wolf....I dont see why it would not work....if ever you try it let me know if it worked out for ya...thanks...

  • Skinning the fish was EPIC!!!!!! will save alot of time scaleing small fish (I fillet and fry bigger fish and eat the skin)

I wish you would have shown the stomach contents, most fun part of gutting a fish (except when they have cigarette butts, then I get mad att my friend Lage ^^ )

The blood stuff "under" the spine is the kidney of the fish

Great vid! thanks and keep em coming!
