why is everyone mad that they stopped trying to cross death metal and punk rock and finally wanted to sell some albums? if you want to stay alive in the music industry you have to evolve. compare the number of views on any song of thier first 2 albums compared to thier later stuff like diamonds in the rough or even city of evil.

Also, you don't have to evolve in order to survive. If anything, you have to write music that appeals to a majority of music fans and a ton of promotion in order to survive.

I dont really think that they suck as much as the material and arrogance they have sucks. The rev is an amazing guitarist and Synester and Zakki are one of the best guitar partners in music today. Sadly they seem to have bought into corporate greed and their music is just so unlike it used to be.

While touring he burst a blood vessel in his throat, so as a precausion he and the band decided not to do it anymore. But he can still scream if he wanted to. Besides the new A7X is better then the old..

watch any post 2007 videos. they kick ass live. i saw them live back in february and i was insane. it only doesnt sound good now because shadows was not screaming cus he fucked up his throat. he now does not write any new screaming songs so the one he does a night does not affect him much. they r amazing live, u should try and see htm urself cus they put on one kick ass show.

In my honest opinion. Waking The Fallen is the best album they have made, and ever will make. I wouldn't say they sold out incredibly, although their style of music was much more rock oriented and was less metalcore esque.
I'm a true A7X fan until I die, but that doesn't mean I have to like all their music. Sound The Seventh Trumpet was shit. I would say that's more along the lines of hardcore punk.
Basically, Waking The Fallen is the best album, followed by City of Evil.

I agree, I think that was their best album, he sings and screams in that album. That's why it is so good. All of the songs are insanely good with awesome riffs on bass and guitar and crazy drums as always because The Rev is the best ever!! =)

This version of Unholy Confessions sucks. First time hearing it, I am sad. Obviously it takes talent or he would still scream. Because he didn't properly do it to begin with and messed up his vocals chords. BTW, he isn't that great of a singer. A singer who constantly goes flat singing live.
Three bands come to mind that still scream and are better singers than Shadows. Dillinger Escape Plan, KSE, All That Remains

Coincidentally, he did undergo surgery for a torn vocal chord of something, but this hasn't affected his ability to scream at all. Apparently he's better than ever...
