I wouldn't normally watch a nine minute vlog all the way through, but you're quite a good storyteller, you had me wanting to know what those silly Mormons would do next. Also, the hard on comment made me laugh.
@AdamOfNebb - this video was pretty long I admit. I need to do blogs on a more regular basis as events happen so they aren't as long-winded :) Thanks for subscribing too!
Lol - the "hard on" was so naughty of me! My friend from London told me that I should've asked if they take *their* clothes off for baptisms! :P
@butts12345678 - lol, I searched for the clip and had to laugh because South Park lampooned the exact thing I was skeptical about when the missionaries were here - the whole idea that the 'prophet' had to 'translate' the gold tablets into scripture (which by the way apparently 'disappeared' from the earth after it was 'translated').
For heaven's sake, why does God always seem to prefer the most inefficient ways of communicating?! ;)
@salemsaunders - I know!! It was such an inappropriate thought, but I just couldn't help wondering what those guys looked like under their stuffy suits. One guy was a football player from Utah and the other had a Wales accent. I just wanted to eat them up! lol
I second that on the research papers. I have worked like crap on things like that for my psychology class in May 2009 and just passed the class.
I remember some Mormon sisters that stopped by some time ago to talk to me about God and though I enjoy the philosophies and mysticisms of religions, I don't like to read the book of mormon or bible every day. You have to believe in what's right for you.
@HaleyMary - I agree, many of the stories and themes have merit and many of the traditions are enjoyable (like Christmas). It's when rituals get laboured, bizarre, and frankly illogical that I feel disconnected from it all.
I hate research papers, too! That was one of the last things I had to turn in before I got my Associate Degree. I was glad to get it over with. Dunno if I would have listened to Mormons to temporarily get out of it, though.
hey...hope you have a really GREAT Holiday up there in chilly Regina...i assume you have the dog sled team all ready to take you into town, etc....:)....Did you ever see the movie "Latter Days"??...about a mormon boy who is found out to be gay and shunned by his family...good movie.....congrats on finishing Uni too......
@landongendur ....i found the whole movie on u tube....just search "latter Days" ....uste25 is one utuber that has most of it....its a very well done movie....
I'm curious whether or not they realized you were gay, and whether that would make a difference in their recruitment. --You may or may not be interested, but there's another youtuber called Landon who's a Mormon from Utah that has the collab channel MondayAndTheGays & his own channel strongestintheworld. He said recently that he was going to talk about his being a gay Mormon in an upcoming video on his personal channel. He has a GREAT relationship with his family. Almost too good. I'm envious.
@dafttool - the missionaries would've had no clue about my homosexuality. It was never a topic of discussion during their visitations. I seriously doubt that it would discourage them though - in fact it may have encouraged them to "save me" even more ;)
I have a tremendous ire toward proselytizers such as that. In my neck of the world, it's usually a Jehovah's Witness or Seventh Day Adventist that comes knocking on our doors. But it doesn't matter what religion or denomination they're selling as far as I'm concerned. It's an invasion of privacy & an affront to my sensibilities. I also take a hard line against missionaries that try to covert 3rd world people, coaxing them with food, medicine & education., while destroying their native cultures.
@dafttool - I think of missionaries similar to salespeople - they're welcome to pitching their sales speech, but in the end it's all about whether or not I personally find value in it. I believe that a being powerful enough to create the universe wouldn't have given us free will if it wanted us to follow a complicated set of rituals. Think of playing a Sims game! ;)
Don't even get me started on Jehovah's Witnesses! I know a person who is alive today because of blood transfusions.
Great to hear from you! I agree with you on the research paper in essence you are taking information that has been compiled by biased people to be unbiased but are told that if they write honestly remember who is sponsoring you (the government) so don't be over critical of government inessence causing government to continually grow making things worse! Some things are as simple as falling off a chair you hungry go to work doing things that will feed you duh.
@karan6 - they're awful. And really what's the point? I can't think of a real-life career where I would have to make one (and I'd quit that job in a heartbeat if I ever did!).
hee hee funny story...I seriously LOL'd near the end there *ahem* was not expecting you to say THAT! lol
Congrats on your degree! Upload again soon!
