@JG2703 The limit for a train with a single engine is 6 cars, though any train with more than 5 is really sapping HEP power and would use 2 engines.

@dahood07 Yes, I think so. I've got to ride it again soon. They want to abandon it. It was the mainline to the mainland at one time. People took the LIRR to Greenport and sailed to Newport RI then caught a train to Boston. Untill they Bridged Ct.

Sunday afternoon, equipment is swapped. During the week the consist is 1 car. Friday, Saturday, and the first Sunday run have 2 cars.

He has his headlights AND red marker lights on at the same time. I thought they were just to be used for cab car operation. Or does this mean he is only pulling one car?

Greenport is the last station on the Greenport scoot,soon the engineer will head west so that he/she puts on the red marker lights

OMGWTFBBQ? A one-car train? I thought MNCRR's 2-car all-day train @ Waterbury, as well as the 2-car off-peak and weekend shuttles on the Wassaic and Danbury branch were bad enough....

Goes to show you that Greenport is a shadow of what it used to be :(

The engineer would alert the crew not to open the doors. They can then move the train in reverse until they reach the platform.
