  • all the townies moved in ruined the place dont care they brought the drugs der

  • I laughed so hard at "Gilbert is tops". Doesn't sound like Ballymun, sounds more like Blackrock.

  • I lived in Ballymun from when I was born 1984-1995 coultry road yeah their

  • I think that's Paul miley, collecting outside of the shops, Austin Oneill, and Richie Crean, are dancing in the Disco....cant place anyone else...Lived in Ballymun, when it first went up,it was a great place back in the day,no drugs or shit....became a kip...a lot of kids done good over the years...a lot ended up in the gutter.....my old man still lives there,he wont leave till they bury him...I know people knock the place, but if you never lived there, you would'nt know better.

  • We lived there from 66 until 72, my folks got out, said it was going nuts, and they wree right. Even as a little kid I can remember total mayhem, just flocks and flocks of kids marauding around. I realised it was all a bit nuts meself when I watched the older kids remove the two massive heavy wooden entrance doors to our block, for the halloween bonfire. Holy Spirit school, mad place.

  • if yous dont like it why did you bother lookin it up yis spa's , and yeahh there are some scumbags in ballymun so what its not ballymun with out them !

  • @sandcbom we looked it up coz we remember ballymun BEFORE the scumbags....when u had to have a job to get a flat in ballymun, then all of a sudden it seemed u had to have no job, a baby without a spouse, and a drug problem, to get a flat.......one wonders why there was a sudden change in policy by the powers that be.

  • reeling in the years has to be the best Irish tv programme EVER!!!

  • vhhiuytfhbvnj

  • i lived in ballymun 4 3 years in the 90s nd it was rough as fuck then aswell

  • @buloo1234 i know tallaght is ballymun quite rough

  • There are people leaving comments which prove how far they are removed from whats going on in these communities, whether you want to believe it or not ,the whole idea of social housing is to give people who are living on the breadline a place to live and then say, there ye go now we've given ye a place now don't bother us anymore. they don't take care of the maintenance in these buildings and put nothing into the infrastructure of these communities. try taliking to people before you judge.

  • what happened . They should make more tower blocks and flats like them around Dublin

1 low cost housing for first time buyers

    2 for the crac

3 You prob couldnt get a better community than Ballymun so why wouldnt it work in other places

4 I just like the look of them real workin class

  • Awhh datz my old tower block at the start.... ohhh the memories!! :) Some parties we used 2 have too.... miss d'old days!! xxx

  • you know whats weird, see these happy kids dancing at the start their descendants might be the absolute scum of the earth yet in this video they look so happy and just like anybody else.

  • A money sink. The taxpayer paid for these properties that lasted only forty years because they were ruined- urine in nthe stairwells, bulbs stolen from lifts, doors and windows smashed. No we pay again. The new apartments have broken windows and some have been burnt out. The area always has a library and swimming pool. The library was mostly empty whilst we subsidied those chose chose ruin state property. If you cannot afford a large family, don't have one.

  • did you live in Ballymun?

  • No, I lived in Rathfarnham, where litter does not blow around the streets, and people go to the library. In the late sixties people were so grateful when everything was shiney and new (as it is now), before they soiled and broke everything, feeding each other drugs, burning cars and intimidating each other. There is one teacher for every 25 students in Ballymun, compared to one in 30 for the rest of Dublin, at it is a SEZ. There are no excuses; none then, none now. Again I pay.

  • So you never lived in ballymun?

"No i lived in Rathfarnham, where litter does not blow around the streets, and people go to the library"

really...well excuse me.. forgive me for not living in the lapse of luxury.

    BALLYMUN was the goverments mistake!

what did you think was gona happing?

There are alot of places like this everywere!

"There are no excuses; none then, none now. Again I pay"

Know the history of ballymun, know how it came too be, before talking like we owe you somthing

  • You do live in lap of luxury- a multi billion euro development. again. Original was best social housing practice at the time- cental heating and unlimited hot water, library, swim pool, shopping centre, transport links & modern roads. YOU chose to ruin it, not the government (which you assist elect). nor anybody else. I see untended gardens. loose dogs. motorbikes, landscaping ruined, DCC picking up litter every day, graffitti. Towers pub full all day every day and still you complain

  • If you hate the place so much then why do you bother? i could understand if you lived in the place but you don't, why do you give a shit about a place thats miles away from you? yes ballymun has if faults as does everywere else,

I think you just like complaining.

    "YOU chose to ruin it"

The corpo didnt sling out the trouble makers juring the regeneration project.

Lasted only forty years? they were only meant to last 20 years! the flats were temporary fix for the housing crisis in the 1960s

  • Fair enough- I didn't mean to have a go. I work in Santry and go there for lunch. There's good folks there and bad folks, as with everywhere. I hope the bad folks don't ruin it for you and everyone. I don't think they were ment to last 20 years! Best of luck with it all tho!

  • here you have no right to even go and descriminate the whole ballymun area and thing the sun shines out of your arse we arn't all the scum of the earth but you wouldnt know because you never took the time to find a decent person in ballymun for you information ive been raised in ballymun my brother is training to be a garda and im a fuking art student and all my friends who live here dont fuck up the comunnity like you think we do its a minority that do so stick that up you hole ya sap !!

  • Then sort them out. There isn't a minority anywhere else that has managed to do what your minority has done. Ballymun is famous all over Ireland and further afield because of your minority

  • you for real like seriously are you that narrow minded.Theres minoritys everywere the only reason ballymun is so famous is because of my blocks and the towers. MY minority is the same as any other do you think that its easy to just get rid of them eh no! if that was the case they would be gone long ago sorry but you have no right to talk about a place you have never grown up in. I dont go around and nit pick your area no because i have better more civalised things to do wit me time thankyou sir

  • I'm in Ballymun every day. I see rubbish strewn everywhere- DCC doing their best to clean up, mere hours later the area strewn wtih rubbish again. The tiny minority are busy

  • you really like to find flaws dont you sitting up on your pedastil . did you ever consider ballymun is now a tourist attraction with the new hotels obviously the tourists litter too for god sake get a hobbie instead of pissing about how bad a place you dont even live in is

  • I'm lucky to have moved out of Ballymun about 16 years ago lots of the friends there I had are dead through drug abuse, and I lived there when it was seriously dangerous to walk around there at any time. I really think most people that live there would have felt happier living some where else. It's funny because living there and been unemployed was considered normal. The government have a lot to answer.Putting people into flats was such of an abuse of peoples dignity and political power.

  • Lived in town, blanch, tallaght.........went back to ballymun! better the devil you know than then devil you dont know.

  • It would hav been a great area of the City for young familys 2 start but nothing was put into it except drugs and its a shame and a waste of money 2 redevelop it wen the damage is done

  • thats right! Blame everyone else but the feckless idiots that live there!

  • Obviously you know nothing of the area and its people or history.

  • lived in the area for 5 yrs!

    Good enough for you?

  • I have lived and worked in the area for the last four years and have a number of friends who grew up in a and around the flats. It doesnt matter though, your ignorance and nastiness shines through your posts. fuck off please

  • have your friends stopped going to the toilet in the lifts yet?. Your all scum bags!

  • AND NOW THERE IS A RESESION FUCK SAKE

  • hhahah gas

  • what a better time this was when we didnt have drugs in ireland

  • There was plenty of poverty, emigration and other lovely things like that and I very much doubt we were drug free...ever hear of something called alcohol. Nostalgia for an age you obviously know nothing about is worth fuck all

  • Ah Not Dat Bad Gerrin Done Up ANy Waay :D

  • Tha is brilliant video. Yeh its got worse and now look at it. If the goverment would of put more into the community for the kids it wouldn't be this bad today!!
