a person douse not need to know punjabi to worship god but in sikhi punjabi is really important shri guru granth sahib is in punjabi. and you can not translate sri guru granth sahib ji. to under stand the guru fully you must know punjabi. even if you transalate it it wont be the same

i would just like to say even tho it is greattt to have these english songs so we can understand what the gurbani says..... but we should still every sikh should still make an effort to learn punjabi..... as some words in gurbani can neva be translated in english in the proper way..... so it is a good way of making thses english songs to get a message across but still punjabi should b a priority.... it is a song about the sacrifice of guru gobind singh and all he did for humanity. just like how "dhadis" can sing songs that they write in punjabi, there is nothing wrong with singing one in english. This is great for many sikhs who do not understand punjabi or what dhadis say. Also, remember guru nanak said to sing in the language you love and understand, you do not always have to sing in punjabi. To be a sikh, you do not have to be a punjabi.
