Ethel Smith studied Spanish & organ at the former Carnegie Institute of Technology in Pittsburgh PA. For a time she was also married to film actor Ralph Bellamy. Thanks for posting -- such talent at the keyboard.
This scene is from a movie I saw, oh...about 60 yrs ago - I wonder how many people are still alive who saw it, too!... (Red Skelton was in that movie, too!)
Look at him...little squirt! Of course, you're right; and 'Auntie' Ethel was the music teacher in an all-girls school! (They made nice flicks in the olden days, all had fun & nobody got mangled, no dead to count...)
I saw this movie last year in an old art-deco swimmingpool or hall, whatever you call it, here in mannheim/germany and met some poeple who saw it, like you, 60 years ago. in germany the film was released in the year 1950.
I know of a trumpetplayer who went to see this movie three times, to write down the music of one of the songs, he is still alive and kicking.
Well I haunt the tcm website to find films like this love old classics where the plots are about something other than sex I only wish I could have seen it when it came out only I was born forty-five years too late
