This song was the perfect opening theme for "Deathly Hallows." It fit so well with the poignancy and drastic measures Hermione took in the scene with her parents. My favorite song from the "Harry Potter" film franchise.
harry potter will always carry on in our souls, fuck what everyone thinks, be true to what you love. keep reading the books, keep watching the movies, show them to your kids one day, but never, ever, be afraid of what you love or i will avracadavra ur ass.
I think the final film really showcases Hermione and Ron, where the previous ones couldn't., I think they finally - FINALLY - get to flesh out their characters and embrace some non-G-rated emotions....actually be realistically human.
This and Hedwig's Theme are, I think, the two best scores in the series. This one is solely dedicated to Hermione, I think. She is my favorite character in the series... this score speaks to her modifying her parents' memories, her struggles when Ron leaves, and the stress of finding the Horcruxes and how her best friend, Harry, must confront his fate in order to save the people he loves. I get chills listening to it. I love Hermione.
@yurtyybomb I also recommend A Window to the Past + Hippogriff flight (both in PoA), but that's just me. Totally opinionated. I find many themes in other films worthy of similar praise.
The 8th Harry Potter Movie was impressive! My dad and I just stumbled across it released online. We located it on watch harry potter. us (w/out the spaces)
@dorado90 The first time i listened to the song by itself, I thought of how ahr dit must have been for Hermione to never see her parents again ,to never get to hear I love you, or even get to say goodbye. It still makes me sniffle..
I went like ":D" in the movie theater when HP7 started and some random guy next to me was laughing at me! but it was the first film in my life that made me do that !
this, Ron's Speech, and Farewell to Dobby are the most emotional tracks on the soundtrack and the most emotionally impactful scores I've ever heard in a film(not just harry potter, but in general).
This song is very sinister, tragic and sad but also hopeful, strong and you know that all of them are getting ready for the last and their hardest journey against voldemort.
The combination of the scene, this song and the feeling, which comes over - it makes me goosebumps !!!
I like how he subtly nodded to other songs throughout the score. Maybe it's just me, but this reminds me of Journey to the Cave from Half Blood Prince.
@child2ofchrist4 Yes i believe the same thing, that Nicholas Hooper was darker than Alexandre but Alexandre was great too.Especially "Obliviate" and "Snape to Malfoy Manor".I would like Nicholas to return the truth is...
@meganchild67 Part 2 has already been created so has the music from Alexandre Desplat.I read on the internet that "John Williams, expressed interest in returning for Deathly Hallows if it fit his schedule. Director David Yates stated that he was eager to work with Williams on the score for Part 2, but it was not possible due to their conflicting schedules."I wonder what music Williams would made..
Unpopular Opinion: I loved this soundtrack. It's completely new, it's SO much darker. It has that eerie tone to it, that's what needed to happen. If I just listen to the music, I get the chills. It's a good score.
@AmyEvette26 No. This is in the opening scene of the movie in which Hermione wipes her parents memory. It was a very heartbreaking scene to watch. The music fit perfectly, I thought
I personally loved the music in the new HP movie. The music flowed really well with the scenes and I left the movie theater wanting to buy the soundtrack. Desplat did an amazing job. Thank you for uploading this song WalissonTr. Ive been dying to listen this one! It was my favorite!
@WalissonTr Are you kidding me? Patrick Doyle was the best one! How can you say Death of Cedric or Harry in Winter weren't emotional pieces. I'm not saying Desplat isn't good. This one is probably tied for the best with the GoF soundtrack.
I totally disagree with the idea that alexander desplat is not the right composer, this is a beautiful soundrack and perfectly illustrates the theme of this movie. Desplat really creates the kind of atmosphere that is wonderfull, the journey, the danger, darkness. :)
Desplat has already been confirmed for Part 2. Zimmer would be an awful choice for a Harry Potter movie, as I do not think he would suit the magical genre.
1:56 *Hermione whispers behind parents' backs, wand pointing at them* Obliviate ... 2:00 - 2:37 *pictures of Hermione fade away from photos* 2:38 *Hermione leaves her house and walks out into the street, alone as the camera rises up ...
People shouldn't judge the score until they hear it in the movie. This score was perfect for the movie and it was my favorite Harry Potter score behind the John Williams scores
@EpisodeSkywalker I totally agree, if you hear this song in the internet you can't know the effect it has on the scene, the first time i herad was in the movie and i thought it was perfect 8D
Who could possibly dislike this track?! First, the Harry Potter scores are beautifully done. Second, Alexandre Desplat did an amazing job capturing the emotion in this film!
This scene at the beginning set the tone of the movie beautifully. The music, acting, everything. That was one example where adding things not in the book is good!
the problem with this soundtrack is that we make a big change from hooper to desplat and that for me is big. I only liked this track and snape to malfoy manor. But the rest of the movie was VERY QUIET. I want that nicholas come back :'(
At first I wasn't too sure about the soundtrack, but after watching the movie, i realized how much the music fit into the scenes. Its a pretty well done job
I agree with you; Hans Zimmer coming to Harry Potter would be fantastic. He is my favorite composer and has done a fantastic job with so many movies. Part 2 would be the perfect HP movie for him to come into
AH! This makes me want to cry! When they played this during the credits you think back to Hermione leaving her parents' house (since it was played then, too), and you realize just how sad and epic the whole movie was. It's SO good!
Just listening to this song, reminds me how I felt when I watched this part. I could definetly see her expression change a lot, and then it showed the pictures. That's where it got me. She seemed so real and amazed me with her skill at BEING hermione. not ACTING like her <3
I just hope this sounds and works well with the film!
Desplat creates some emotional moments but none as memorable or as defining as what John Williams has done for the first 3 films - or could have done for these!
@kazigi He was going to, but because of his schedule (he's scoring Tintin and War Horse) he's not going to do it. Yates said it in a press conference. He wanted Williams for Part 2.
@yonythemoony I think that was the most upsetting thing I've heard in a very, very long time. You could listen to "Battle of the Heroes" and more or less imagine what the Battle of Hogwarts could sound like.
Aw well. I actually like Desplat, I'm excited to see what he can do for the next one. Thanks for the update though!
@AAMPictures i agree! I can't wait to see the opening scene and then the words, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part 1, floating through the clouds towards me.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
This is the worst soundtrack of the entire Harry Potter series it just sounds awful. Hooper should have come back or they should have gotten Hans Zimmer.
@wabz662130 The worst and the worst composer of the soundtrack was Patryck Doyle, no doubt. The worst track, out of sync with the movie nor sentimentality and emotion in the scenes. Desplat did this trail with passion. Hans Zimmer must come to Part 2, which have long scenes of battles and will be great.
@WalissonTr What the heck! Hooper's soundtrack for Order of Phoenix was such a pile of crap that I wish the movie had been silent instead of listening to that awful awful awful mess. Honestly Hooper is a talentless hack, atleast Desplat knows what he is doing! Alexandre Desplat has made the best non-John William's soundtrack of the series, in my opinion! I can't understand what you don't like about it!
@WalissonTr I think Hooper was the worst actually! In my opinion, Doyle did a good job, somehow he understood better than Hooper the atmosphere of the movie and managed to translate it in music... Hooper, especially in the sixth, composed a score with no themes, that resulted in a series of useless chords everyone could have composed... Shame that John won't come back for Deathly Hallows Part II...
Just an example of the subjectivity of art. You see, I liked Doyle better than Hooper. I like Desplat better than hooper too, and though it would be great if williams returned for the final chapter, I'm happier to see desplat than hooper. But of course this is just a matter of tastes. way too many vicious comment wars get started over subjective issues, it's ridiculous.
@WalissonTr Zimmer?!?!?!? OH MY GOD!! Not him!! they guy was good....rain man, potc, lion king...but this days seem to be over, now we got inception...the vuvuzela concert, this HP score is good from what i heard..but please..no Zimmer
@WalissonTr Hans Zimmer is one of my favorites but not for harry potter.Alexandre did great job different, and we need different, new music not only the same old stuff, and i think that there are composer's styles that matches uniquely with a film.John williams' music style for exmpl does not match with Hp7,and he's my favorite composer.
@wabz662130 Hans Zimmer has been recycling old themes of his for years. His work today still sounds like his score for The Lion King. He is brilliant, but when analysed, his scores are all the same. The Dark Knight and his score for Inception are almost identical, and his Pirates scores and Gladiator and King Arthur ARE identical. You can't distinguish tracks from films, its rediculous. Alexandre Desplat however has never recycled old work, he is always original and improves with every film.

@wabz662130 i seriously agree with u! its nt just this 1, bt d entire score as well. being a music critic myself, he just failed to introduce emotions into places where necessary. somehow, hooper did a better job.
Eg, in HBP, d approaching of death eaters gvs u d sense tat 'oh, its trouble', with flow of excitement. but this? (again, using d death eaters score in DH) its more like they are participating in a challenging competition rather than on dangerous tasks!
does anyone else think this track is reminiscent of "Battle of The Heroes" by John Williams? I think this song is SO reflective of Williams. I'm stoked for Desplat, and happy he will bring continuity to the next part by scoring it as well.
Wait a minute! The score is not set to release until November 16th. How did you get it? I already have my copy on pre-order. But i don't have access to that order. how did you get yours so early?
this could very well be the best soundtrack of the 8 movies, with Ron's speech and of course Hedwige's theme.

Did everyone just forget about John Williams?
Uh...he IS still alive and the best man on the god damn planet. If anyone should do the last soundtrack- it should be the man who started it all.
kazigi 1 year ago 2
@kazigi He was going to, but because of his schedule (he's scoring Tintin and War Horse) he's not going to do it. Yates said it in a press conference. He wanted Williams for Part 2.
yonythemoony 1 year ago
@yonythemoony I think that was the most upsetting thing I've heard in a very, very long time. You could listen to "Battle of the Heroes" and more or less imagine what the Battle of Hogwarts could sound like.
Aw well. I actually like Desplat, I'm excited to see what he can do for the next one. Thanks for the update though!

@kazigi No problem.

Why not Nicholas Hooper for part 2! He did a fantastic job on Movie 6
LuckeMasse 1 year ago 3
I think Desplat is just not Harry Potter - like. Hans Zimmer is way better then him, but best for Pirates o.t.C.
John Williams is the one and only for Harry Potter Scores. Forever.

Great Soundtrack !

I can´t wait any more to look the full film!

Actually, I take that back, Desplat is composing Part II as well.

Only starts to get good at about 1:50. Not convinced by Desplat, John Williams should have come back or bring in Hans Zimmer.
ManUMan2008 1 year ago
Well... I really wanted to hear the music of hooper but i guess it wont happen neither in the last and more important film:( part2

If this is what the film opens up to?.... : ) Bloody Brilliant
AAMPictures 1 year ago 2
@AAMPictures i agree! I can't wait to see the opening scene and then the words, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part 1, floating through the clouds towards me.
MrHPsauce01 1 year ago
the worst composer was really Nicholas Hooper, though I actually anjoyed some of the tracks...but the 5th film is also the worst one so....

This is the worst soundtrack of the entire Harry Potter series it just sounds awful. Hooper should have come back or they should have gotten Hans Zimmer.
wabz662130 1 year ago
@wabz662130 The worst and the worst composer of the soundtrack was Patryck Doyle, no doubt. The worst track, out of sync with the movie nor sentimentality and emotion in the scenes. Desplat did this trail with passion. Hans Zimmer must come to Part 2, which have long scenes of battles and will be great.

@WalissonTr sorry to dissapoint you guys but word is Desplat is signed on for Part 2

@WalissonTr Warner Bros just made an announcement a few days ago saying the Alexandre would be coming back for Part 2.

@WalissonTr
Hans Zimmer would be just perfect to the 2nd part. he's awesome.
BUT I can't say I don't like music by Desplat. #1 is epic!
ilovemybrotherpiotr 1 year ago
@WalissonTr What the heck! Hooper's soundtrack for Order of Phoenix was such a pile of crap that I wish the movie had been silent instead of listening to that awful awful awful mess. Honestly Hooper is a talentless hack, atleast Desplat knows what he is doing! Alexandre Desplat has made the best non-John William's soundtrack of the series, in my opinion! I can't understand what you don't like about it!
williamjesnider 1 year ago
@WalissonTr I agree, Zimmer would bring a new twist to whats left of the potter franchise, then yet again, Williams will be back to co-score part 2.
BzK 1 year ago
@WalissonTr I think Hooper was the worst actually! In my opinion, Doyle did a good job, somehow he understood better than Hooper the atmosphere of the movie and managed to translate it in music... Hooper, especially in the sixth, composed a score with no themes, that resulted in a series of useless chords everyone could have composed... Shame that John won't come back for Deathly Hallows Part II...
Ency19 1 year ago
@WalissonTr
agreed to both of you hans zimmer would be amzing for part 2 and it would fit nicley even haryy gregson williams i think would be good or john powell

@WalissonTr

Brabbel93 1 year ago

@wabz662130 r u kidding? this is the best potter score yet!
pottyaboutpotter1 1 year ago 2
@wabz662130 Doyle was definitely the worst. He had no passion, and everything was bombastic Marching Band music.
Hooper did such amazing work with Half Blood Prince that I'm very sad he isn't back.

does anyone else think this track is reminiscent of "Battle of The Heroes" by John Williams? I think this song is SO reflective of Williams. I'm stoked for Desplat, and happy he will bring continuity to the next part by scoring it as well.

@xheathersmith "Battle of the Heroes" is an amazing song, but I'm not hearing the resemblance.

Wait a minute! The score is not set to release until November 16th. How did you get it? I already have my copy on pre-order. But i don't have access to that order. how did you get yours so early?
