YEZZZZZ! That's what it seems the announcer was saying when the snake smiled. Other people who have posted are right - the announcer here is voiced by the same man as the host in the 'An M Comes to Dinner' clip. Great memory - yesssssss indeed!
I used to hide when this came on...this ranks up there with the "U & N...together they make the sound UN" and then the other letter would come marching up from behind...scared the crap outta me
I was wondering the same thing too. Maybe the snake got surprised because, as the announcer said "I see", since "see" begins with "S", the snake must have thought that the announcer was another snake making an "S" sound too. (At 0:49, the announcer made a little bit of a long "S" sound before saying the word "see", so the snake must have been surprised thinking that he was talking to another snake without him knowing. (This is just my guess).
Didn't really scare me. I remember thinking at first that he was just a live S judging by way he was shaped. So that when he said was a snake, I just thought, 'well what do you know'.
Another creepy classic that I haven't seen since I was a kid. The narrator is the same actor from that other Hubley short about the guy who invited a greedy M to dinner.
