The Sibelius seems to be particularly popular among gifted young soloists. I wonder why that is. Szymanowski was a wonderful choice. We need more violin concertos
To be an artist,Imagination is the creation and it cannot be learn. You have it ,you have it,like those masters in the past.Go to art museum see how those creation of the imagination, see how the mind flow by years.
anyway nicola is wonderful violinist.but for sibelius her play does not suite my imagination. But still she played wonderful.
how can you be so rude and horrible?? I don't know why I am even replying to you. I was just trying to pay Nicola Benedetti a compliment as she is one of my favourite artists. Unfortunately, u seem to have deliberately misinterpreted what I said.
it's ok, I was just a bit upset because me and my friends work really hard at music college to try to play the best we can, but we also love classical music too. I appreciate the apology though :)
I'm a jazz musician, I live in Greece and I adore this woman and her music! Her sound is so smooth, so fine! I could fall in love with her... She made me love classical music again!
Ahahahaha! I played 4th horn when she did the Sibelius with the Irish youth orchestra. It works at this speed when it's accompanied. In fact, it's usually done at this speed, to my knowledge...
She's a very talented young player, and I have heard some good playing from her at Verbier. Her Mendelssohn violin concerto recording is well done, but the playing here is too slow, cautious, and stodgy for this music. Maybe with a fine orchestra and a stimulating conductor behind her, along with the adrenaline in a concert performance would help her get more out of her shell. Heifetz really "owns" this piece. He elevates the piece to heights just not realized by anyone else.
Love her clean "unfussy" style of playing...

I agree with Nicola about her favorite moment in the Sibelius - it's makes or breaks a performance for me!
