@ybdiffrent well the real cobra is a move that gets you on the enemies tail what is performed isnt as good.The sukhoi's are more aerodynamic and can handle high G manuver's like the cobra,double blackflip whatever.Still our planes are faster

@nwtruckerll The F-22 tops 1550mph the SU-27 isnt much faster.The F-22 still maintain's an edge over the SU-27 that would lose easily.Now an SU-35BM or T-50 would be a nice even fight.

@1bearcatf8f I wouldn't be so sure about specifics when it comes to the F-22. They're still classified but I did hear the previous Raptor demo pilot say "the F-22's engines produce over 37,000lbs. of thrust each" and then he threw in something else I found interesting. He said that "supercruise above Mach 1.9 is classified". I wouldn't be surprised if the top speed is considerably greater than the F-15's. Time will tell.

@bujoun76 true,The F-15C max's out at 1888mph while they say its 1650+ but they say the F-22 reache's around 1550mph but im sure the engine's are powerful enough to make it go past that.It's range is classified,Really sence it's a high level of stealth alot of the stuff that is said isnt accurate.But yeah time will tell.

Just think, the F-22 was designed and tested in late 1980s. So we are looking at 1980s technology that cost $140 million. The F-18 Super Hornets first flight was 1995 and Introduced in 1999. The Super hornet is almost as maneuverable and cost only 54.7 million.

I don't think you realize how much research and development go into a fighter jet. The F/A-18E super hornet is an upgraded version of the F-18 which first flew in the 70s and was designed in the 60s.  The updated technology in the super hornet make it a completely different animal than its earlier prototypes and predecessors. Likewise, modern advances in the current production F-22s make them much more capable than the 80s tech YF-22 prototype

Really, the only thing that seperates the F-22 apart is the cross sectional area of the plane itself and the 2 dimensional thrust vectoring engines. It was already talked about amongst the EU nations of putting thrust vectoring engines in the Eurofighter, but they figured that the plane was manuverable enough without them. The US government uses the same tactic of propaganda every other nation has over the centuries. Make the people believe that you are invincible, what lies.

It is not that the Russian's can't build an air craft that can compete or be better than the F-22, obviously you haven't seen the SU-47. The problem is they don't have the economy we have, and don't have the tax base to build such a jet. Look at us for example, we are already cutting back on the number of F-22's we will produce. It is not the fact we have better engineers, it is just that other countries don't have the finances we have to research and build advanced weaponry.

The incredible F-22 is amazing. This was the second time I've seen this aircraft and nothing compares. I had a few friends who were speechless after this demonstration. I don't care what kind of aircraft your flying no one matches up to our highly skilled pilots.

It's a shame that some politicians want 2 terminate the F-22 program 4 good. Stopping its production until someone else comes with a jet that can match the F-22, I could understand that. But replacing it with the ground attack F-35 is insane. In specially when the russians & the Chinese r doing everything they can 2 build 1 that is more capable than the F-22. Some experts refer 2 the Chinese J-XX as a F-22 on steroids. US politicians r completly retarded. The russian PAK-FA looks promising 2.

Well, the russians say their aircraft will have it's 1st flight at the end of this year & soon after that it will go into production. They want to introduce it into active service in 2012. The Chinese say that theirs will go into active service in 2015. Unfortunetley, F-35 is no match 4 any of these in aerial combat arena. & I don't think that by 2015 u will already have another aicraft. That means the F-22 will have the shortest active service in history.
