Very nice job. There are a few artists that I'd add, but no artists here I'd quibble about. If you do another one, maybe add Little Milton, Sam Cooke, Otis Redding, Huey "Piano" Smith, Etta James, Ruth Brown, Chuck Willis, Roy Hamilton and BB King. Again, a very nice job! Thanks!
I love that I was born in the 90s because I had parents that left me with a love of the oldies music from when they were young, I grew up on old cartoons and classic Disney of the 90s, and that I'm still young and growing up with a perfect combination of a respect and love of the old and an aptitude for the new age. I miss music like this, but I also love aspects of music today.
@trevorbronson Wasn't Elvis more of a rock and roll artist? he WAS named the King of Rock and Roll and is therefore more known for rock. Also, at that time R&B was genre of AFRICAN AMERICAN music.
The rarely mentioned divas of the sixties include Barbara Lynn, Mitty Collier, Jackie Ross, Betty Everett, Mar Wells and Maxine Brown to name a few. Listen to them, you'll be glad that you did! (if you haven't already!)
I made a little tribute to Jimmy Reed - most successful Bluesman of the late 50's and early 60's whose songs frequently crossed over into the pop charts (big boss man 2:14).
Just click on my name to watch my animated short - just 74 seconds long called "24 bars for Jimmy Reed".

Obviously the younger generation don't know what R&B and Soul music is...Elvis? lol

Just because Elvis isn't african american that shouldn't exclude him from this. You did title this "R&B Stars", not "Black R&B Stars".

Golden memories. Songs that couldn't be beat. All kings that couldn't be misunderstood. We yearn for the good old days when music was supreme.
