  • beauty :)

  • SPECTACULAR!!!

  • RIP MALCOLM MCLAREN.......TIMELESS LIKE U

  • he passed away last year. a true pioneer. a beautiful mix of classical and hip hop that tears at the soul and the video is loveliness.

  • I bought this on release (and still have the vinyl copy!) but considered it gimmicky not long afterwards. Listening to it now with the experience of age, I appreciate its subtleties and craftsmanship. Fair play Malcolm - you may not have always got it right, but when you did you really left your mark.

  • special, sophisticated (even it´s a bit old), gorgeous, fantastic, classic, but modern... it´s everything :)

  • total genius and musical pioneer R.I.P

  • two mins too long but what a song......great!

  • I LOVE this song.

  • i was 16 years old, babysitting for the general manager of the fort worth symphony, going through his vinyl collection, which was massive, and saw the cover of "Fans" and played this song because "madame butterfly" i had heard of. little did i know it was this version. took my breath away. absolutely tried to get my friends to listen to it, and none of them were interested. then i started going to this club called the Starck Club and i lost it when the Deejay played it! at last!!!

  • Agree with mrcayolargo! You have to hear the whole album!!!

How I wish we had musicians like this today..., where did they all go?

Guess they got old like me ... ;-)

  • Brilliant song from a classic album.Go and find Fans and listen to the whole thng it blew my mind the first time i played it,and it is still one of the best albums.

  • holy shit, i think i just gained a little respect for malcolm.

  • @rorydragula there must have been somebody else behind it:o)

  • WOW

  • A thousand years on ... and this will still be awesome, because everyone has lived a similar story ... Life.

  • Can anyone listen to Cio-Cio-San's (Butterfly) aria's without emotions welling up?

  • This is my favourite Song from him. A grestest hits CD please !!!! I still waiting! :)

  • What can I say........get's me everytime.

  • I think my heart stopped the first time I heard this

  • Utter GENIUS and a really brilliant music track,I really heard it for the first time in 1984 when I had been smoking Weed.I overlooked it until that Summers night.

Loved it ever since.Malcolm you were/are a great Man we will never replace you.

Thank's for what you brought us.From Sex to the Sex Pistols through to this a rare

    talent RIP. *GED*.

  • Gotta git me some of that waterproof makeup.

  • And how young/old were you when you first heard this? Twenty-five/thirty years ago, like me? M.M.

  • @thomasmoredamian 72 and still like it..........sad or what?

  • I hated this when i was a kid but now i realise just what a brilliant piece of work it is...RIP Malcolm you're a legend.

  • Duran Duran's "Girls on film", Olivia Newton-John's "Physical", Vanity 6's "Nasty girl"... There were many fascinating music videos in 1980's. Among those great videos, especially this Malcolm's video is extremely fascinating one. I love it!

  • Gotta have something to believe in....my white honkie I do miss him!!!

  • ..."I'm a bounder...I married a Yankie girl".

  • Somehow...I don't think the ladies in this video will be nowadays quiet so slim! Lol

RIP MM you helped shape my life..............................

  • Total masterpiece in every way , goosebumps every time , RIP Malcolm

  • @MrRemmoc when did he die i never heard

  • @mufc99ok , 8th April this year , twas a sad day for music

  • The song itself is brilliant in every way, a real masterpiece - rest in piece, Malcolm.

This video doesn't do it justice, though. You'd say it wouldn't be that hard to come up with a video based on an opera like this. I wish they'd have tried to illustrate the actual story instead of a few half-naked beautiful women clutching on a letter. Such a waste.

  • Where are you when we need you Malcolm. Your music was the best, there will never be another one like you. A true legend.

  • I loved this song too.

  • @robinhastings oops sorry, I did too.

  • Truly stunning.

Interesting how the drumline is basically 'buffalo gals' with slightly different drum samples.

    A true innovator.

  • from a teen in the 80's we had the BEST music, nothing like this manufactured crap today

  • deborah coles vocals are fantastic, 80s music is 100 times better than the crap served up today

  • This was my Time :-))

    AWESOME

  • this is the hottest music video i've ever seen

  • Thank you for these short Synthie Bass lines. They make my skin freeze forever.

  • I first met Malcolm in 1969 at "Le Bataclan" Club London; we where teens and both had flaming read hair. Many moons later when I was a 1st Assistant Film Director we filmed this classic with Terence Donovan at Harrogate Baths. Meeting again on this great shoot we reminisced the great music from the club. I use to bump into Malcolm over the coming decades and we always too time out to catch up. Dear friend and Auburn loner like myself will miss you.

    Theo de Rose.

  • @degingernut : What a beautiful & personal memory! Thank you for sharing this. It puts a new perspective on this already-classic song. You made an amazing video for an amazing song. We all miss Malcolm. Big Respect,{G}

  • @degingernut much love to you and malcolm,,,,,,they dont make music this way at all anymore,,isnt it rubbish , and totally crap videos these days....x

  • @degingernut Nice one son,,,we all Miss the man.We are either not producing imaginative/creative folk like Malcolm,or they are being stifled ?

  • @jimtheskim the creative music is out there you just have to dig beyond the charts to find it .

  • @irishmanufan I hear you but I have my hands full with my back catalogue.

Don,t do the charts.....If you have a good reciever there is or maybe was a fantastic Dutch radio station called Aero Rock Radio..They play all sorts from Neil Young to led zep,,worth a listen if you can find it? 675mw..

    kind regards.
