i just lost a drag with my stock 307 1985 oldsmobile cutlass supreme againsed a 4 cylinder 2 door 2004 honda civic stick shift, by only 2 car lengths. it was down a paved highway road that was marked at 1 quarter mile, he bea tme by 2 and a quarter car lengths. everyone sais my car is gutless and ball less cause i lost to a civic.. i take in to consideration that the civic is a hell of alot lighter and dont forget, my car was stock and at 26-27 years old. maxed out at about 150 after i let off.

@kowal789 Those 307's are pigs. Most Cutlass that you see (that aren't all "Boogied" up) are rodded out with 350's or bigger.

@GuitarArmy95 Aye we used to have an 84 Cutlass Calais with the 307(with 4bbl carb) and it was a pig, was a great cruiser in it's day but the 307 would sound like was going to explode at around 3500rpm. I don't wan't to even talk about the rats nest of hoses under the hood. I was a cool car though, too bad I don't have it anymore. I guess I'll just have to get along with my 71 Cutlass Supreme (350 rocket motor with 4bbl) :)

im only 16, and my very first car is a 1985 oldsmobile cutlass supreme. its a 4door, but it has power. the 305 aint that big of an engine compaired to some others but it gets the job done. im gonna slowly work on the car and make it pure canadian muscle. cant wait until i can get some upgrades.

hey, i also have an 88 delta with a 350 engine sitting right beside the cutlass. would the 350 engine physically fit in the cutlass? thakns =)

@dgk990 I dunno man... A friend of mine has a '91 civic hatch with a turbo LS/Vtech in it. Puts down around 380-390 to the wheels. Believe me, that much power in a 2200lb car is down right scary =]

In a civic with tons of power you just get a lot of wheel spin, in a viper with wide tires in the rear.. if you pop the clutch on that thing.. I swear my head went right through the seat. But yeah a light car with lots of power is the key.

1 - A WRX is something like 1,500 lbs lighter than a cutlass

2 - WRX had fuel injection, I don't think the Cutlass did until later on

3 - The Cutlass was naturally-aspirated, WRX has a turbo

4 - As for a drag race, AWD is always better. It sends power to all wheels simultaneously, and thus little friction from launch and a better acceleration.

If they were both N/A with RWD, the Cutlass would definitely win.

Cutlass supremes were designed to be luxury cars of it's time and were also known as baby Cadillacs. My father had an 84 Cutless Supreme and it had a very smooth ride with a very strong fast 307 in it.

Most likely this was a 1/4 mile...see how the WRX was starting to pull away? It has an extra gear and plus more power available in the top end but not much more than the Cutlass. Def a close race especially for a race against a twenty year old car.
