Do you have to muck about with the songs? This, my friend, is the ONLY version out there, as far as I know, of In the First Place with George's vocals yet you seem to feel that it's your right to muck about with it and add a massive echoey explosion thing at the start (which you have also done to many other rare songs). You're not George Martin. I, and i'm sure many others, would have listen to the song untempered with, especially since this is so so rare.
@HTprods The echo effect is because of the bootleg it's on called "Now And Then: The Lost Dream" which takes place in a dream. No disrespect but If you don't like it then find the song yourself and upload it. Try downloading the boot and your see what I mean.
I love this music. Ive tried your download, but for some reason I get a file that cannot be opened. Its probably just me doing something, but I wouldnt know how to fix it. Any good advice?
This is just such a wonderful song. ITS FUCKING BRILLIANT. It just has this perfect, damp feel to it almost. Its fucking gorgeous... It just and builds... slowly marching at first almost and then everything just stops and the chorus!!!! i need to stop freaking out, but GEORGE IS FUCKING WONDERFUL!!!!
@JohnyBleed Wow, I've never heard this! I can tell it's Ringo on drums but are all 4 beatles on this? I had the Wonderwall album years ago. All instrumental, lots of Indian music. I wish this had been on it.
@JohnyBleed No, this isnt George Harrison singing. The wiki page where you got some of the info is wrong. Remo Four did two tracks for Wonderwall: This one and "Wonderwall to be here" which are in the director's cut of the film. George Harrison is only credited as the producer, although it is widely believed he was also playing guitar on it too. The lead singer of Remo Four is singing.
I just looked this tune up on wikipedia and it says this was released as a single in 1998 with the A side listed as "Wonderwall Abbey Road Mix" and the B side as "Wonderwall Movie Mix." Anyone know anything about this? I'm assuming this is the movie mix.
Also, this is George with the Remo Four, not the 'Fab Four!'
Yes, it is a great riff, but, um, but such Beatle classics as Here Comes the Sun, Something, While My Guitar Gently Weeps, Within You and Without You, Taxman, I Want to Tell You, I Want to Tell You did quite a lot toward "establishing him as a songwriter in his own right before the split," n'est-ce pas?
Well said, but they were 'Beatle' classics, many people didn't know he wrote them (heck, even Frank Sinatra thought 'Something' was a Lennon-McCcartney song!) He did prove later on he was as good as the others.
I am always amazed by the many songs that were written during the Beatles sessions, but were not released by the band. Most notable of these are George Harrison's Beatles era compositions on All Things Must Pass, as well as Not Guilty, Circles, and Sour Milk Sea. I mean even Harrison's discarded songs from Yellow Submarine (It's Only A Northern Song & It's All Too Much) are vastly underrated in my opinion.
Beautiful song... how could he not release it as a single. It would have been a perfect Harrison single in 1968, estbilishing him as a songwriter in his own right before the split.
This is not George Harrison. This is the Remo Four.
