hahaha your so called burnouts are called power skids champ!!!!the biggest burnout comps in the world are held in Australia. Look up summernats or easternats and you can see real BURNOUTS. You can start on the break but then it is all the driver and power of the car. A burnout comp is judged on 4 things style, the amount of track used, smoke(which you seem to struggle with) and popping tires. Before you go and make dad humored videos you might want to make sure that you are correct.
Well stated Dave. Brake stand/Power Braking, all depends on the area you grew up in. Around here Brake Stand was the more popular term.
Dave, what type of tires do you find best for burnouts? Back in the day Firestone had a make they called Funrubber which were quite cheap and great for smokin' 'em on a Friday night ;-)
@540merlin Once again 540merlin, great video, I have a question, how many tyres do you get through in a burnout season (however long that may be????) and what brand do you prefer? I ask only because I am looking for some investment opportunities in Canada and I reckon your tyre supplier must be damn good stock right now! That Big Block bellowing into another set must be music to his ears! Keep up the good work and the smoke!
In the late 60's and all through the 70's it was called POWERBRAKE BURNOUT. People now-a-days think by changing the name of something sophisticated it's totally something different. People also think their time is valuable that they have to abbreviate everything. If you want to ban me,fine. I'm not saying you don't have a nice car, you do. It's just the misleading video titles. I have been around longer and way older than you too lose sleep if you ban me. Truth hurts doesn't it..
Rebuttal - 1- Just about all cars can make the motion of the wheel faster that the ground. (Ice / Snow). 2- It does not take 500 hp to burn out, I did it in the mid 70s with a Superbeetle, 3- "Brake Standing" was actually called "Power Braking" in the late 60s - early 80s. But still love watching your Camaro :-)
@highflyer4 You may be able to do a brake stand without a line lock. Some cars can. Some can but it is very difficult. Some just won't. You need to put the brakes on enough to hold the car from moving, but not enough to stop the back wheels from spinning. It's hard on the back brakes if you do one sucessfully. If you are watching burnout vids on YT and you see a car doing a brake stand and his brake lights are lit, then that is what he is doing. No brake lights means he has a line lock.
Nice terminology and description and such but you also got to add with the equation i think? tires..... my bfg's are so soft that it barely shows when i do my roast,so tires also play a great roll in burnouts.....
What about the term "peel outs"? I guess those are what other people consider by your terminology "burn outs" Your notion seems to make a little more sense in my opinion.
Nice video my 300HP foumula would light them up at 20mph without dropin the clutch but now my current muscle car i need to hold the brake a bit thats with my 86IROC but theres a motor swap in the works
@class2012drb I'm sure almaost any performance car parts place will sell line locks. Consider installing it backwards on the rear brake line. Then when actuated you can control the front brakes with the brake pedal, instead of just on or off like mine is.
I love all your vids. Dave :-) The patch that you lay down in 2nd gear is INSANE!!!! Btw, how is your daughter's driving coming?? I look forward to seeing more of her driving vids. (maybe a burnout one?) lol
Nice video Dave! You might want to explain to the listeners that trying to do a brake stand withOUT a linelock is bad for your car. See too much of that happening.
I'm going to make a video for you of me burning the tires off my truck, when I get my new ones ready to put on though. Maybe you should road trip to Iowa and take me for a ride in that thing?!
@60camarochick I've never been to Iowa. In fact, I don't even know what part of the states Iowa is in. Could be a nice trip. You live anywhere near OliverYourMom?
@shadowparrot My car may be cool - I think so. I may have more money than average. But I am just as big a loser as the next guy. These videos are just some of the good parts - I don't post the videos where I argue with my wife. Maybe I should start posting those too...
OMG Dave...so I am sitting here drinking my coffee and eating a few cookies, when that trunk door opened and you popped your head out--I about shot food on the keyboard...Keep 'em coming as you are quite entertaining ;) AND the burnouts are top of the line, buddy!
@60camarochick I am a very visual person, I see my thoughts. So now I have this image of you spewing food all over the key board stuck in my head. Thanks!
Your best quality video by far; the sound and picture were top shelf, but I still think you're in need of an external mic. But I enjoyed it, rather oddball.
But to be fair, you said a car wanting to do a rolling burnout needs at least 500HP, which isn't true. HP at the crank or wheels? What tyres does the car need to have? How much does it weigh? The power-to-weight? So on and so forth, you get what I'm saying.
Hate to've pointed it out, but you know what I'm like.

@JesseDanielHimself My new camera doesn't like wind, it screws ip the sound big time.
I said "about 500hp", not "at least 500hp". The "about" was meant to deal with all the variables you mentioned and then some. Good try though.
