I'm using a preset called Purple (I guess inspired by purple rain) I am using the wah wah pedal manually on the pod. I'm not using any other outboard effects.
What settings do you have on the line 6 to make it sound 'buzzy' like that? Are there any other devices connected to the line 6 like a wah or flanger? I think I hear some of that in there.
Gawd! Man I just LOVE that! The tone and the articulation is mesmerizing, haunting. I have loved the electrified violin ever since I first heard Mahavishnu Orchestra, 1974. Luc Ponty and Jerry Goodman rule! Your playing is very good, though I do think you could do better. Thank you for the lovely music and talent! Awesome.
may i ask wat effect ur using? its juz distortion or metal or something else? (sorry i cant reali distinguish these effects lol coz i been playin classicals all the time..got an e.violin and decided to try something different recently)
Very nice squared-wave like sound in those sustained notes. However, due to the high harmonic content in the attacking, the attack notes sound a bit harsh and sometimes a lil bit unpleasant. Nevertheless, thumbs up. What X3 amp model did you use for that sound? any X3 model stomb box ?
man this is freaking awsome, i love that sound with the Violin! your Damn good Bro! i just got the X3 myself, and still learning it a bit! bet it'll be the last pedal i ever buy!
I'm curious with electric violins are they 4 or six stringed? Also can you distort them to sound like an electric guitar? Please explain. Great work! Keep it up! I have a request can you play any video game music on your electric violin? I'd like to hear a medley of some stuff from Castlevania Symphony of the Night, Dragon Age Origins and Final FAntasy.
All this time guitarists try to make their guitars sound like a violin and you go and try and make a violin sound like a guitar. I'm so confused, nice though, you sound pretty cool.
I keep all the strings tuned in 5ths, the highest 4 (in pitch) are the normal violin strings so going downwards E, A, D, G, then 2 deeper strings viola C, and low F (so a 4th above a cello C), I used to have a 7 string that went to a low Bb.
These days I use Helecore strings for the top 4 and super sensitive for the F and C.
You should be getting more out of a fretless instrument... Do the slides that you couldn't do on a guitar... The fretless let you do sounds that are more onirical and not just pentatonic guitar stuff... With all that said... 5 Stars!
It is a 6 string Violectra made in Birmingham UK by maker Dave Bruce Johnson I ordered the first electric violin he built 22 years ago and this is my 8th!
Hi I am just plugging the Violectra straight into the POD X3 LIVE and using a patch called purple. Different violins will have different basic tones, and the other factor is the notes phrases and inflections that you use.
I'm not necessarily thinking about it to much while I am playing.
indeed i can, theres a few cool bands he's in, i reccomend 'Liquid Tension Experiment 1 & 2' 'Dream Theatre: metropolis pt II' and every other Dream Theatre album since, try also ' AN Evening With John Petrucci And Jordan Rudess' he is a living legend, best keyboard player in the world bar NONE! :-)
This is really sick!! But its so sick that i'm watching it again and again and I can't stop! Can you play more of this? 5 stars my friend! Greetings from Greece!
Check out Renae Truex of Cowboy Crush. She's been getting SRV type tones out of a fiddle, Sans Amp and Cry Baby for several years in her bands live shows. Been wanting to try this with a POD 2.3 for years, but life keeps getting in the way, LOL! Sounds great!
Yes it's a manual Wah Pedal.
PeteHartley 4 months ago
Pete, On your WAH sound, you manually rock WAH pedal back and forth,
should I do one cycle (forward and back) on each of one note? I have used some WAH before that change characteristics by Amplitude of sound.

there are 4, 5, 6, 7, and I believe 8 string electric violins I have heard rumours of a 9 string.
I distorted the violin using the pod on a setting called purple (I guess from purple rain)
If you would like to produce me the track and dots for the medley I would be very happy to have a go.
Pete
PeteHartley 2 years ago
I see I'm sorry to inform you that I can't produce the track and dots for the melody. Might I suggest looking online? It might be easier that way.

Cheers
