I have something in common with Gurdjieff. I probably am exploring the New Universe in a way in which G prepared me to do. I don't know about the rest of the 'People of the 4th way" I'm pretty sure they are remaining Under the Sun. I want them to know that there is experience Over the sun and that you are all welcomed to visit the entire cosmology
Long-time student of both Gurdjieff and Ouspensky's works. I really appreciate the fact that not only are there people keeping this info in the public forum but also that there are people keeping THE WORK relevant. THANK YOU!!!!!
Although some of the students of students of Gurdjieff, namely Seekers After Truth, are quite good in articulating the aims of Schools, for a really excellent introduction to The Gurdjieff Work, read Herald of the Coming Good. It was the first book Gurdjieff wrote when he arrived in Paris.
He lays out his mission rather clearly.
Many thanks to those who have put up these Work videos.
The moon is a giant magnet. It 'sucks' and pulls things from the earth (think about the oceans). What Gurdjieff (and he is not alone in this idea), is saying is that the moon attracts matter - the more coarse it is , the more it is affected. Think of the words 'lunatic' , 'moron' (r moon), and there are many other examples. The more degenerate, the coarser your process, the more you feed the moon. The more refined and finer, the more you feed the planet, sun and stars.
I read the fourth way and other Gurdjieff/Ospensky works, some of the material I think is incredibly insightful but some of it sounds very silly (things like souls going to the moon, etc.). Some of the ideas about Eternal Return were very profound though. Gurdjieff was a very spiritually learned man no question but I am sceptical of what his motives were. His system conveniently suited secular people with jobs and money to support him...coincidence, maybe, maybe not.
"Feeding the moon" could be a metaphor. The book is difficult. Purposely so. I suppose it's safe to say he didn't want to spoon feed the reader. Which is why he admonishes and seems to do everything to put the reader off in "The Arousing of Thought" (first chapter). the moon thing may have something to do with three centered being out of sync.
I have more on this if you are interested. I did not study G's work, I studied the work of someone else who explained thinks a lot clearer. Feeding the moon, links in to all kinds of other territories, but is part of the mystery of reincarnation. I will leave you to contact me if you want to know more.
actually it is not so silly if you think a little,
it is a principle about that everything is connected with each other, nothing is seperate, think about all the planets and sun and moon.. they're all a system actually, a big machine.. and we also cannot think ourselves seperate from this system, it affects us all in many ways
@Psychogenius018 agree,some G stuff does come across very silly,childlike..?
maybe this is how he was taught these "cosmic truths"...and how he repeated them? as to his secular side,g made no excuse for asking for payment for knowledge,i'm not saying i agree with this parse,however i can understand how his wealth of knowledge may of been lost if not for some kind of sponsership.

Gurdjieff is, simply put, the grandfather of the New Age movement. His "quest" is undocumented and unsubstantiated. Much of his "science" is anecdotal and rife with issues that plague any early 20th century absolutist pseudo-science.

I prefer the less eclectic transmission og the Gurdjieff ideas and practice given by The Gurdjieff Foundation.
